Issue with sound when running a Line 6 POD HD500X effects unit

Hi,

I have been using my POD HD500X mainly for recording at home directly into a pc. I want to use the unit live, connecting to a Laney VC30 amp and bypassing all the amp models on the Line 6 so it retains the sound of the amp. With no amp selected and all effects off the tone of the amp changes which I thought shouldn't happen as the guitars going into the Line 6 then out with any changes along the signal path. Is this usual or am I missing something? Basically I'm just trying to uses multiple effects, no amp modelling as I like the sound of the amp as is.

I'll be honest. I saw your post a week ago but am rarely logged on. But today, I signed in and saw that no one has answered, so allow me to respond -

I don't know what you are saying.

Could you be a little bit more descriptive/specific.

To get a completely transparent, non-degraded bypass guitar signal when all effects are off, you need to set the input impedance parameter to 3.5 mega ohms or 1 mega ohm (no less, not AUTO).

By default this is a per-patch setting, but it can also be set as "global" so that it no longer needs to be changed and saved for each patch.

The default setting of the input impedance (AUTO) is to make sure that the guitar signal is influenced by the typical impedance value of the input of the first effect in the chain (on or off), therefore to obtain a better response fidelity of that specific chain of effects, but unfortunately the downside is that the complete bypass signal remains degraded.

(In the guitar input (and only in this one) there is a physical circuit that adapts its input impedance according to how the input impedance parameter is set in the patch).

The solution to your issue is the one given above,... or use the AUX input (1 mega ohm fixed) instead of the Guitar In
