sunshinewelly 0 Posted March 20, 2014 Is it possible to do both of these at the same time and if so how. for example lets say i want to have an acoustic preset saved to custom 1 at switch position 1 and i want drop D tuning with a virtual capo at the second fret - can that be done in workbench
phil_m 4,542 Posted March 20, 2014 Well, virtual capo and alternate tuning are really the same thing in the most basic sense. So, yeah, that's totally possible. The thing that's different with the JTV compared to the original Variax is that the alternate tuning feature can be used without having to edit the model in Workbench. There are number of ways to do what you want to do.
joebutterfield 10 Posted March 20, 2014 To add to Phil's comment you are correct, either way can be achievable. Remember Virtual Capo will overwrite any existing preset that you currently have loaded on your JTV, so be mindful of which tuning you want to overwrite. Workbench is a great way to do it, that way you can customize multiple alternate tunings then swap them in and out as needed. crice53 1 Posted March 25, 2014 Create your preferred Acoustic model in the Custom position. On the screen you will see the window to change the model tuning. Raise the 1st to 5th strings by a tone (two frets) ie it is now 'Drop D ' but a Tone higher. SAVE When you play the Custom model with the Tuning knob in the 'Standard' position the guitar will be in Standard EADGBE tuning. Turn the Tuning knob to 'MODEL' and the guitar will be in the tuning you created with the model in Workbench.
