tron2012
Hello friends, with my Helix LT I need to play chords of a song by using the 4 OSC effect. I'm using snapshots assigned to footswitches to play every chord, but they are 8 in total per preset and I need to program and play more chords. Can anyone advise me how to have more than 8 snapshots within the same preset? Thanks
silverhead
You can’t have more than 8 snapshots in any preset. That’s a hard limit. You might find that you can arrange your song and playing to tolerate a preset change at some point, giving you 8 more snapshots in the other preset. You will need to find a place in the song to allow a few milliseconds of audio dropout as the preset changes.
tron2012
Sure, it's a cool idea, I had already thought about it, but I would like to find another kind of solution to fix it.. If only there was a way to be able to set an On/Off state to a footswitch, I could assign two different values for each Snapshot and thus be able to have double the number of snapshots. For example Snapshot Off= Chord # 1 Snapshot On= Chord # 2 . How can I get this?
silverhead
You can’t. There’s nothing to ‘fix’ because there’s nothing broken. A Snapshot does not itself have two different sets of values. Each snapshot represents a single specification of block on/off states and parameter values for the preset. There are 8 such specifications in every preset, and exactly 1 of them is active at any time. The other 7 are inactive. You can’t do what you want to do. Final answer.

In it I show how to mimic the sound of a Hammond B3 drawbar organ with a Leslie spinning up. To answer your question, just an idea: you can come up with "compromise" chords. As you know I'm sure, 2 chords can share 1 or 2 notes between them. For example: C major: c, e, g E minor: e, g, b So you can come up with a "compromise" partial chord where you can have just g and e notes that will satisfy both C and Em. Or maybe just a single note in octaves: E, e, e that will cover C, Em, E, etc... That way you can have full-blown chords and partial chords, or sometimes single notes. It could actually be a nice arrangement to go from full chords to just single notes! Additionally you can use the expression pedal to control pitches... IMO, the tone generator thing is a neat trick for one/two different chords... But live it's so much of a pain in the lollipoppers to perform. Plus the footswitches have these flimsy micro switches.... so if you want to play your Helix like it's Taurus bass pedals, expect the footswitches to start malfunctioning soon....
