HX Stomp XL 'fast preset scroll'...?

Is there a setting to enable 'fast scrolling' through presets?

Sometimes I'm caught out when there is a song change and the band has to wait for me to individually 'stomp' my way through dozens of presets to get to the appropriate one that may happen to be located a long way from the current preset.

I would think that a 'press & hold' function would be perfect.

BTW: I have my UP/DN buttons set to PRST and the Toggle set to Snapshot mode.

Hi,

There isn’t a fast scroll function available, possibly because then people would complain that other members of the band have to wait while they hit the appropriate one, after scrolling past too quickly.

Anyhow, it might be advisable to arrange your presets into a more manageable list in HX Edit which would give you 4 presets almost ready to go in each bank window. If you know where your various scattered presets are located you could switch back to BANK mode to scroll through 4 presets at a time rather than individually. Find the BANK, then switch back to PRESET mode to select the one you need. I guess, ultimately your Presets for a gig need to be more organised, but there will always be a situation where you need to leap to a preset that is not in sequence - solution, don’t ask for audience requests.

From the HX Stomp XL Owner’s Manual:

When set to “Presets” or “Snapshots,” FS1 (BANK ) and FS4 (BANK ) change to PRESET / or SNAPSHOT / , where pressing either switch instantly selects the next/previous preset or snapshot, without a bank queue. This is useful if you’ve programmed a fixed set list for your show and just want to increment through all your presets or snapshots. You can also cycle through all three switch types by pressing and holding both the and switches for two seconds. At any time, press and hold both FS1 and FS4 to cycle through BANK / , PRESET / , and SNAPSHOT / . Note that this setting affects the Up/Down Switches for Preset mode as well as Stomp mode (when the “Stomp Mode” option on page 1 is set to “4 Switch”)

Hope this helps/makes sense.

There's lots of strategies for handling this sort of thing.  Quite honestly I doubt I'd use a "fast scroll" even if it was available.  I want to have minimal time and effort between songs.  I export each one of my presets onto my hard drive through HXEdit, then once we have our songlist set I simply import them into a specified setlist reserved for live performances in the order of performance so it's a single footswitch to select the next song in the list.  Of course this depends on not changing our setlist during performances which is not a problem typically.  If we do change the order for some reason it's pretty simple to just move a preset to a different location in the setlist.

This is how I've worked with my Helix for about 7 years and it's been very easy and dependable.  It also helps in getting all the presets I'll be playing gain staged to consistent levels so all I have to do at the start of the night is gain stage one preset on the mixer at sound check and all my presets will be consistent.  The added advantage is I've never lost a single preset because the "master" of that preset is on my hard drive, not in my Helix.

Well it's a real shame that they haven't implemented an option to have either a fast scroll OR an individual scroll somewhere in the HX config.

I have individual presets set up for each and every song so, if there's an unplanned change in the set list, I'm caught in no-man's land and everyone has to wait until I scroll to the right preset.

Damn.
