arowana1027
Can I di my Marshall into the mic jack on my Spider Jam?
silverhead
Depends on your Marshall amp output level. The Mic input is expecting a mic level signal; if your Marshall is sending a line level signal it likely will overdrive the mic preamp leading to unpleasant distortion. But you could use the Aux input on the Spider Jam instead.
psarkissian
No, the clipping light will come on too easily. That would stress the input circuit. And would have the "unpleasant distortion" that sliverhead mentioned.
arowana1027
It was just a thought, it would be cool to go from my marshalls xlr di to my spider jam though. Do they make a xlr to rca cable?
arowana1027
Nevermind, just realised the rca's are output, not input.
arowana1027
Ok, so here's a pic of the di out jack on the back of my marshall, you think maybe it would work, or better to just mic my marshall, the sj is a nice amp and has good models, but can't replicate a good all tube marshall. And I'd like to do some looping with my marshall in the mix.

Yes, it will likely work in the sense that you will hear sound. Will it sound ‘good’, whatever that means? Only you can say…. but probably not. Or are you trying to achieve something else? arowana1027
Just seeing if I could for kicks and giggles, but it sounds like a no. Don't wanna mess either amp up, I love them both.
