YammerUK
User Defaults are very useful, but, on balance, I think I use Favourites more often. And, because I was a n00b when I started playing with User Defaults, I'm wondering whether changing the defaults was wise in some situations. My question is: short of going through every amp, cab and effect, looking for set User Defaults, is there a better/cleverer way of identifying which ones have been altered? This might be using the Helix control panel, Helix Edit, or getting under the bonnet and looking at preset/setlist/bundle files on disk? Hi, Yes, if you have saved a full back up (as when you update the firmware) and then perform a Factory Reset on your device, you can then click on Restore from Backup in the HX Edit menu. Then the restore dialogue box pops up with the option to choose which files to restore to your hardware. Your "User Model Defaults" is in there, along with Favorites, Globals etc., and any that you don't check in the option box with a Green Tick will remain as the Factory Default. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Good question. If there is a way I’m not aware of it. @datacommando described the method to remove all modified User Default models and restore to factory defaults but that won’t identity the ones that you have modified among your current models.
YammerUK
Thanks. I need to look at the saved files and see which ones are in XML. Then maybe I'll do a factory reset and back that up for comparison.

Hi, IIRC, the Line 6 HX presets are JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) - a standard text-based format for representing structured data based on JavaScript object syntax, rather than XML, which is more complex and requires a tag structure. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: I found this ancient thread about the file format.
