Snapshot only sends midi once and must not be selected already

I’ve been experimenting with controlling various devices via midi sent from the HX Effects.

I have run into a problem: When I assign a midi command to say snapshot 1 of a preset, this snapshot being selected by default when its corresponding preset is chosen, it doesn’t send the midi information when you first press the snapshot button.

You have to select another snapshot and then go back to the 1st one to get it to transmit midi. If you press it again it doesn’t transmit the midi again.

is it something I am doing wrong or misunderstanding, it seems very strange.

Enable Global Settings -> MIDI/Tempo -> Snapshot CC Send .

Thanks, this is already done: There’s no problem sending a CC message the _first time_ the snapshot button is pressed as last no as another snapshot is selected first. However, further presses if the same footswitch does not cause the CC to be sent again.

What you're seeing is designed behavior.

Snapshot ICs won't resend the same message consecutively.

A different message must be sent on that IC before it will resend the first message.

Ok, interesting to know it’s designed and not a bug :-) But why? I don’t see the logic and it’s certainly not convenient for my case. I think I read on another thread that when the preset is loaded, the IC on the snapshot is automatically sent? Which explains why I have to select another snapshot and go back to the one in question for it to work.

trouble is I’m using backing tracks to automate various other units.

It definitely requires a strategy.

Maybe use your SAVED Snapshot to initialize the other devices, then use your other 7 Snapshots to change their settings as necessary?

A Snapshot that changes settings on devices 2, 3 and 4 won't change the setting on device 1 unless the snapshot tells it to, which may be the logic.

If it's already set the way you want it, why would you want to send the same setting again?

If the setting being sent is a Preset Change it might even be detrimental, as reloading the preset might cause an audio glitch while the preset unloads and reloads.

As to L6's actual logic, nobody outside of L6 knows and nobody within L6 will ever tell.

It is what it is and ever will be.

You could try posting your preferred fix on Ideascale, but don't hold your breath.

Thanks for your thoughts rd2rk that's a very interesting idea of using the snapshots like that. I'm just a dinosaur that doesn't like adapting my ways to various devices!

Cheers,
