Getting Started w/ Helix - What Downloads are needed?

I just got my Helix and read through the manual, but I still cannot tell what I need to download and/or install. I know I need firmware, but instructions are not clear as to what to do about "Helix Native" "HX Edit" "Line 6 Updater" "Line 6 Edit". What's the differences, what's needed, did I miss any others, where do I start?

Other suggestions?

thanks

Assuming that you've created a Line6 account and registered your Helix, go here:

Line 6

Select Helix as your HW, HX Edit as your SW and whatever your OS is.

DL the latest version of HX Edit. It will install everything you need.

If your Helix is not on the most recent 3.71 FW, when you open HX Edit you'll get a message about "Update Available".

You'll be guided through the update process.

READ AND FOLLOW ALL OF THE DIRECTIONS!!!

DO NOT CONNECT YOUR HELIX TO A USB HUB!

EDIT: Helix Native is a separate download, same download procedure.

My Mac is up to date...any suggestions?

Hi,

You have encountered Apple’s over zealous “Gatekeeper”.

It’s a total PITA - Override it! Here ya go!

Hope this helps/makes sense.

I got the update to start...then got an error message, and now the unit is not recognized by HX edit, nor does it work. in fact, there's nothing legible. it's a computer mess.

It's a big paper weight.

Hi,

It’s very rare that a firmware update would actuallly turn your Helix into a paperweight. It’s a computer (a very specialised computer, but that’s what it is) and software.

To save me from lots more typing, and for the third time in the past couple of weeks, I will simply say - go here and follow the links that I have provided there. Follow the instructions and do not deviate from them and also during the update procedure do not let your Mac lose focus - i.e. if your cursor leaves the update window it may fail.

Hope this helps/makes sense.

Oh, yeah - don’t forget about the “Gatekeeper”!
