HELIX LT freezes at startup (error -28)

Hi. Today my Helix LT (firmware 3.70) doesn't start anymore. It freezes at boot with the logo image, the red line completed expanded at right and a code :-28 at the upper left angle of the screen. I tried to power cycling... but it doesn't resolve. The Helix LT is not connected to PC through USB and no guitars or other devices are connected to it. Only the power cord. No responses from any button or joystick or pedal. Please... any ideas? Thank you so much!!

First perform a factory reset:

For the Helix LT, hold footswitch 9+10 on boot to restore presets, setlists, globals and IRs (restores factory bundle) "THIS WILL OVERWRITE ALL USER PRESETS AND SETLISTS. Normally you would perform a system backup first but in your case you can’t. Hopefully you are in the habit of backing things up.

 

If that doesn’t work, hold down footswitches 6+12 to put the device in Update mode, then run the Line 6 Updater program to reinstall the firmware.

 

If still not working open a support ticket.

I tried to make a reset, holding fottswitches 9+10 on boot... but the Helix freezed while resetting! Not resolved.

Now I'll try to put the device in Update Mode.

Anyway, I just opened a support ticket.

But... sincerely I think it is unacceptable that a device like the Helix LT (about € 1.100 in Italy) had problems like this!

No... no way to go out of the problem. I installed the firmware (3.71) booting the Helix in Update Mode and using then Line6 Updater, but the Helix LT doesn't boot: there is always the error -28!!

In my opinion this error code means an hardware problem. This is the reasons why it is impossibile to resolve with sw actions.

Hi,

 

 I knew that I had seen mention of the :-28 error a while back - fact it was mentioned back in 2017.

 

 

As nobody came back to say what the fix for this was then the best thing to do is raise a ticket with Customer Support.

 

If you do get a fix for this please come back and let others know about it.
