indyj_son
Hello! Playing around with some old gear. I never tried the Line 6 link so I was messing with it with my DT25 head and HD300. The tone I am looking for is hard to heavy but not super metal, something you can roll the volume back and get an OD clean-like tone. I have settled on the JCM800 model. In general I like the sound but there is this annoying high "fizz or brittleness" I just can't get rid of. Rolling the Presence down helps a bit but it is still there. If I could just get rid of it my tone would be perfect. Any suggestions? The DT25 is like new with very low hours on the stock tubes. I am running it through my line 6 4x12 with Vintage 30's. My HD300 settings are: Live mode Amp set to PreAmp mode Setup output = Stack Amp Line 6 link to amp. No FX1 Any suggestions with some settings to play with greatly appreciated! silverhead
Check the Bias setting on the amp in your HD300 preset. This setting may only be available on the full, not pre, amp model. Sometimes a higher setting will reduce the ‘fizz’.
hurghanico
Try putting a MID FOCUS EQ after the pre-amp in your POD patch to use its included Low Pass Filter (sort of like a HIGH CUT). By default, two MF EQ parameters that are not needed in this case are active and therefore must first be neutralized by setting them to zero: the GAIN and HP FREQ. The parameter that serves as HIGH CUT is the LP FREQ, setting it to a value between 63 and 70 (depending on the amp model chosen) should solve the fizz problem. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

It does have the 4 band and Parametric. I messed around with the 4 band a bit but still was not quite able to get what I am looking for. You're right, I use a HD500X and I didn't remember that the HD300 didn't have the MF EQ. But I think that the HD300 should be equipped at least with the Vintage Pre which also contains a Low Pass Filter which you could use for the same purpose. In this case the values would be more conveniently expressed in kHz, and a setting more or less around 6 kHz could be what is needed.. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
