scottkatz
I noticed each patch I download has a different output level. Some are lower some are higher. What is the best way to adjust and save when I listen thru my headphones? Is it raising the channel volume or change the output level at the end of the signal path? silverhead
I prefer to use Channel Volume to balance preset levels but you can use the Output block as well. The important thing to understand here is that these two controls do not affect the tone. Other parameters such as amp drive, gain, or amp Master volume do affect tone and should not be used for preset leveling.
scottkatz
So other than the master volume it really doesn't matter? Also do you have to resave once you make the changes? Thanks.
silverhead
Generally it doesn’t matter whether you use the Channel volume or the Output block Level. However, an increase in the amp Channel Volume could affect the tone of the preset if there is an input-level-sensitive FX block after the amp. And, yes, you need to save the preset to save the changes.
theElevators
Rule of thumb should be that a blank preset should be about the same loudness as an actual preset--this way there will be no digital clipping and other harsh sound artifacts. So take a preset that has absolutely nothing, and compare it to your presets in question and adjust the output volume (last thing in your signal chain). Good luck!
