MonCGuitar
Well, this iS FRUSTRATING. Out of the blue, my PGW won't boot. And it happened 30 mins. before showtime at a very important gig for my band. It was working like a clock before this. I've been to every post in this forum, written by people who's been through this already (using the Updater to go from 1.21 on -will stay stuck in ANY version- until the process crashes on 2.00, etc.). NOTHING HAS WORKED FOR ME. When I got in touch with the tech dept. to start a ticket, I get options that will lead me to buy a brand new unit instead, between shipping, the "minimum bench fee of $45" PLUS the parts (call it anywhere between a RAM stick and a new motherboard)... Of course I find this ABUSIVE, being that the same problem has been lurking for some time now, and through many different users here. This is complete BS! So, if ANYBODY around here has found any other way to do this before I offer my almost mint unit for parts or just throw it to the waste can, please let me know! BTW, here's a pic of the unit. Has been stuck like this since last night, and and after turning it off and on a thousand times (which was also recommended -?-)... Thanks in advance. Mon C. Rickkit
Not to sound preachy, but, I have never trusted any of the different multi-effect units and modelers in a live situation without having at least another unit for backup... My first unit was a Digitech GSP-2101 and I had 2 of them programmed identical, which I only used for a year... Then I moved to the Digitech RP6 and I had 3 of them, and they served me faithfully for about 20 years before they all finally died... Then came the Digitech RP1000 and I had 2 of those, and I used those for about 5 years until I retired (I am 71 years old)... Anyway I cannot tell you how many times my lollipop was saved by having an identically programmed backup ready at various gigs... Now since my gigging days are behind me I have only 1ea POD Go which I have been using in my house for about 3 years... I realize that none of this helps you in your current situation, but you should take this old musician's advice to heart if you are gigging professionally in the future... I had to have various RP6 switches replaced over that 20 year period because they would fail without warning at the most inconvenient times... My bandmates never gave me static about using the multi-effects, because they knew I could switch a defective unit out in a heartbeat, just like a guitar with a broken string... Rickkit
In my previous post I typed "lollipop" and it somehow became "lollipop"... Very curious... EDIT: It did it again - the word I actually typed was slang for one's behind region...
theElevators
Try resetting the Pod Go to the factory defaults. See if this helps. If you didn't do anything and your Pod Go won't boot all of a sudden, definitely submit a support ticket, that's not normal. As for things failing right before showtime, this can unfortunately happen. I've seen lots of things fail right before the show, including a MacBook Pro's sound just failing all of a sudden--then rebooting fixed it. That's why you must have a backup for every gig you are playing. When I toured and relied on the Helix Floor, I'd take a Helix LT as my backup, much to the annoyance of my band mates. But knowing that it's just Chinese mass-produced printed circuit board plastic junk, I know better. If you have a backup, nothing ever goes wrong. When you do not, then that's when the fun starts. Recently I've downsized to a Pod Go for my drunk bar performances. Every time I play, I arrange for some kind of a backup situation, including my friend's Pod Go loaded with the very same presets I'm playing. Right now I'm seriously considering buying a second Pod Go for all these drunk beer-spilling situations. Pod Go is so tiny, that it won't break my back if I take 2 of them together--still way lighter than my Helix Floor. cheers!
MonCGuitar
Thank you both for your input. Yes, I’ve tried it all, as stated (hard reset included). Nothing. I’d rather buying another Pod Go and store the damaged unit for any future emergencies (broken parts, et. al) than paying Line 6’s tech dept. more money than it’s worth just to “fix” it (hence my “abusive” remark). …and to think that I got rid of a back up Pod Go (red edition) just months ago … I hope this thread stays here, in case someone from planet earth encounters a viable solution. Again, thanks a million.
