Help hooking up zuul plus to HX stomp

So recently got a Soldano Astro and I have it hooked up my stomp using 4cm. I have also purchased a Fortin Zuul plus noise gate. It hasn't came in yet, but I was wondering how I should go about hooking it up. 

 

Before I decided on using my stomp as my main source of effects, I was going to hook up the zuul first in the chain using 4cm though my Astros effects loop.  Is it possible to still hook it up this way?

Place it between the guitar and the Stomp Input. This could compromise the Auto Impedance feature, but if you're not using any HXS FX that use <1M Impedance, no loss.

 

OR

 

Place it between the HXS SEND and your amp's Input. You'll need to use the Fortin's FS to toggle it (unless the fortin has MIDI).

 

OR

 

Waste a Block for a second FX Loop.

Which effects have auto impedance?  I mainly using the the stomp for drive, reverb, delay, and occasionally vibe and chorus.

I'd solve it like this:

guitar -> Hx input

Hx send L -> amp input

Hx send R -> Zuul key in

amp send -> Zuul in

Zuul out -> Hx return

Hx out -> amp return

 

Use a TRS -> 2x TS split cable for the Hx send to amp input and Zuul key input. In the patch use an additional Send R block first in the signal path to send the clean key signal.

 

Alternative solution:

guitar -> Zuul key in

Zuul key out -> Hx input

Hx send -> amp input

amp send -> Zuul in

Zuul out -> Hx return

Hx out -> amp return

Thanks so much. I've always just used cleans amps and effects to the front of the amp. This is my first time using effects loops.

This only matters if you use one of these as the first block in the path.

 

The solution from my previous post (but not the alternative one) lets you use the Hx input with it's impedance switching btw.

Thanks. I'm going to try your alternate method when the pedal comes in on Monday. Honestly, the gate on the stomp seems to work decent enough.

The HX gate does work great, but it doesn't have a key input like the Zuul. That makes the Zuul the better solution because you can put it after the preamp of your amp while triggering it with your clean guitar signal.
