u0088782
Whenever my HX Stomp establishes a connection to any of my computers (a Windows 10 desktop, a Windows 10 laptop, and a Windows 11 laptop), the initial volume of the USB interface is at 100% regardless of what the volume slider indicates. It's jarring and often defeaning. I'm also worried I might blow a speaker. The instant I adjust the volume slider, the volume automatically corrects to whatever it should have been. Is there any way to fix this or is there a workaround? I can obviously mute my monitors everytime, but it's an annoying extra step. I need to mute every time the HX Stomp or computer is power cycled. Invariably, I forget at the most inopprtune times - like people are sleeping. I'm fine doing that when setting up for a gig, but it's not OK for my computer setup where my monitors are otherwise always connected and on. Thanks in advance. Schmalle
I read this as you use the Stomp as USB interface and the monitors are directly connected to the Outs. Is this correct?

Is this correct? Yes. You may have to configure your computer to use the Stomp as its audio device. The other thing you will have to do is balance the levels if you want to do things like play along with backing tracks. You can do this either by using the Stomp Global Settings control for the USB In trim or simply by using the computer’s volume control. Yeah, I already went into the Global Settings and reduced the trim to -18dB. That doesn't really help as eventually the output is so low that the backing tracks are inaudible when I practice. I just want to be able to leave my volume slider at 40% so that notifications and system sounds aren't deafening when I wakeup the computer, and not raise the volume to 100% to hear anything because I trimmed the input signal too much. I'm not sure what there is to configure. I installed the version 2.00.0.0 ASIO driver and am running HX Edit 3.82 on all 3 computers. The moment the HX Stomp is connected, it becomes the default playback device for all audio, including systems sounds. As an example, I turned on my PC this morning and it blasted system sounds at 100% (I had my monitors turned way down of course). I checked the system tray and the volume slider was set to 40%. I wiggled it and the volume dropped from 100% to 40%. Same behavior as always.
Schmalle
I mean - it looks like a bug. The OS uses the wrong start value (100%) for volume. Opening up a support ticket is worth a try. Maybe it's a know issue. Why don't you lower the volume on the monitors themselves? Aren't they too loud anyways?
u0088782
I've wasted too much time on this already. I think I'm just going to work around it. I'm just going to always set the volume of the USB input to 100%, then set the trim to -12dB and lower my system volume to 5% so I'm not deafened by Windows notifications and am just going to live with it... Yes I’ve noticed this with all audio devices I’ve used with Windows since I started with the POD X3 Live in around 2009. I think it’s a Windows issue, not Line 6. For sure it’s not specifically a POD Go issue. It seems Windows does not retain the previous volume level for any connected device but starts up at 100% every time.
