pineweasel
Bassist here, using my HX One as a simple one pedal setup for gigs. I use the tuner and a handful of presets for octave, chorus etc. I have never used either Tap Tempo or Flux and have turned off the Tap Tempo LED flash. I upgraded the firmware from 3.71 to 3.81 and decided to to investigate Flux, but I find I can't get the RH pedal to do either Tap Tempo or Flux at all, and the LED is permanently off. A factory reset restores the expected Tap Tempo and Flux functionality, but as soon as I reload my presets it is disabled once more. Is there some setting that I might have made that can disable Tap/Flux altogether or have i just run into a bug?
jiml6
Make sure the global setting "Tap Flash" is on (Global Settings > page 4).

Hi, As noted in the post above, from @jiml6, please see the HX One Owner's Manual - available to download here: https://line6.com/data/6/0a002026003567648f05c4097/application/pdf/HX One Owner's Manual - English .pdf Then in the section named Settings View on page >28< in the Settings View Options it mentions that Page 4 - Knob3 is where you can control the On/Off option for the TAP flash function. Hope this helps/makes sense.
mbackus
I agree with the original post. There is an issue with the TAP and FLUX being completely disabled/invisible when recalling user presets in 3.81. I've setup presets to be recalled via a midi controller and both the FLUX and Tap Tempo functions are gone regardless of the TAP flash view option. Furthermore, I can't use or tap in an invisible tempo or push the flux button (it's totally disabled) and it only recalls the saved time/tempo setting. There is an additional issue/bug involving the preset names. Mine is setup to recall my user preset name(s) "great new feature". Sometimes after loading a preset, and then turning the effects scroll knob, all of the following presets load with the last preset name that was visible and don't change accordingly. At one point during this strange behavior, the pedal completely crashed and froze up. It wouldn't reboot and I had to perform a factory reset and then reinstall my pedal backup (thankfully I had one!) I had really hoped they would have sorted out the midi functionality by now so gigging musicians could rely on this pedal. I've had this for more than a year and it's yet to leave my home. I've never had so many problems before doing simple PC midi recalls with the HX One. None of my Strymon pedals have ever slipped up. This is a handy device please make it work better. Thanks! pineweasel
Turning Tap Flash back on doesn’t do anything. The LED remains permanently off, Tap Tempo does not work, and long pressing does not enter Flux mode. The RH switch does function otherwise. I can scroll through and load presets, and use the tuner. Hi, again, A couple of thing here would seem to indicate this is more likely a user error issue rather than defective hardware. For example, say that a Factory Reset restores the Tap function, and in your second post you also mention the RH foot switch functions as expected. plus you said that it works perfectly until you load your presets. I’m a Helix floor user and not a HX One owner, but in here we have a saying along the lines of when weird stuff starts to happen, perform a factory reset, and if that doesn’t fix it, do a clean install of the latest firmware. Those two options will generally blow out any bugs. A reset seems to return your HX to a functioning device, until you load your presets. I’m not familiar with all the functions and global settings in the HX One, but it must be a setting within your presets that is creating the issue. I’m really not quite sure what is happening but I did find this video about a misunderstanding of how the Tap and Flux feature works, as it is not really clearly explained in the manual - take a look to see if it makes any sense to you and the issue you are experiencing. If you feel you have a defective unit, it is covered by warranty for 12 months from the purchase date. This means you could swap it for a brand new box. Hope this helps/makes sense. pineweasel
Yes, I've seen that video and I'm aware of how Tap Tempo and Flux operate; I explored them fully when I first bought my HX One a year ago. I've merely set up a modest number of presets, turned off Tap Flash as I don't use Tap Tempo, and gone out and gigged with it. I've applied the various firmware updates too (though I missed the apparently dodgy 3.80). Somehow it has arrived at this odd state. I'll report it as a bug, which is fully reproducible with my presets file. Thanks all.
pauljoy
I came here searching as I have the same issue. After updating to 3.81 the flux feature works as expected until a Midi PC command is sent to load another preset. Then after changing back to the original preset the Flux switch no longer functions. The bug seems to be related to changing presets.
KaylaRussell
While the sounds are good, the interface and ease of access are lacking. I'm a big Line 6 fan, but this pedal feels somewhat outdated even when compared to older models like the M series.
