Bruticusmaximus
How do i download tone presets in the edit app on an iPhone? The only information I could find says in the edit app "click the "Get Tone" button". What button is the get tone button? If I go to the the tone webpage on my phone, the download icons for the tones don't work. Everything is fine if I use my PC.
rd2rk
I don't see a "Get Tone" button either. I see a list of presets. Superimposed on each is a rectangle with an "eyeball" icon. Tapping it appears to "select" it, but that's it. Since I've never found a useful sound on Customtone, I long ago stopped bothering with it. Workaround - works using OneDrive (OneDrive app required) or iCloud Drive: DL the tones to your iCloud/OneDrive, then (on your iPhone, from FILES>BROWSE>iCloud/OneDrive) copy them to the FILES>BROWSE>On My iPhone>Catalyst Edit>Presets folder. They'll now appear in the list when you select Load Preset in Catalyst Edit on iPhone. If downloading tones from Customtone directly to your iPhone matters, I suggest you contact support. My bet would be that it's a known issue.
Bruticusmaximus
I guess using one drive to get them from my PC to the phone would work. Just using my Spark 40 is easier. You can download the tones right in the app.
rd2rk
If your Spark sounds better, that's the way to go.
Bruticusmaximus
I wouldn't say the Spark sounds better. It's just easier to download tones. Plus it's bluetooth. I didn't have to go out and buy essentially an old printer cable for my phone.
Bruticusmaximus
So, I opened a support ticket and the response I got was, "There is really no way to load those with the phone app. You would have to load them on the amp first with the computer version." What I was told was to download the tones from the web with a PC then, use the Edit app to save those tones to the amp in one of it's 16 slots then, use the buttons on the amp to select the different tones. They said, "The app is really so you can edit a preset easier in a pinch.". I guess that makes sense but, don't advertise is as "Download presets from the web and send them to your amp" if you can't do that.
Bruticusmaximus
So here's the response: "There should be a way to send a file and save it on the phone, and then call it up and load it. The issue is, when you save a preset to the phone, it is stored in a specifically place on the phone. Unfortunately, the app is designed to only look in one place for the presets, and unless the preset you sent over is stored in that folder, then the phone will not see. I am going to dig into this a bit more, because it seems like there would be a way to do that." So I asked "What folder are the presets saved in on the phone? If I had that, I could just move the ones I downloaded there." Response: "Yeah I know. I was actually looking through my phone to see if I could find the ones on my phone." Then the ticket was closed. LOL
rd2rk
IDK, could be the tech was preoccupied with something else - like, maybe, how close the fires were... Or maybe they just misunderstood the problem. If phone browsers can't DL the tones from Customtone they'll never be on your phone. Is there an iOS browser that allows that? That's really the only question L6 needs to answer. Could be that no one at L6 has ever tried to DL from Customtone onto a phone. I never did. Why they had a problem finding where the editor stores files - they're all MAC/iOS users. How often do MAC users do anything involving direct access to the file system? Does the average iOS user even know that it's possible? FILES>BROWSE>On My iPhone>Catalyst Edit>Presets FILES>BROWSE>On My iPad>Catalyst Edit>Presets Took a few seconds to find, and I'm a lifelong PC/DOS/WINDOWS user! Anyhow, at least you have the workaround.
