rwinking
So I have been using my PC+112 or 212 for an acoustic guitar monitor with either a Quad Cortex or Stomp XL. I use a really nice Martin D-28 IR and it gives the tone a kind of next level acoustic with a mic sound. I go from a Felix preamp out and use the QC or Stomp in the FX loop for Verb and DDL and also have that Martin acoustic IR in the chain. I have been looking into the POD Express with the idea of having a really small pedal for smaller gigs for verb/ddl. 1) My question is can I load an acoustic IR or two onto the Powercab? 2) And I could then have that extra shimmer? 3) Using the acoustic IR, would the PC then default to FRFR or something? 4) Would this be in effect doing what I do on the Stomp/QC except putting it in a different place in the signal chain? 5) If this is doable, are there tutorials on how to download IRs onto the PC/? Thanks everyone. rick
rd2rk
1) Yes. 128 if you like. 2) ?? 3) No, but you need a way to select that IR. Unless you want to be tethered to a computer so you can use the unreliable app, a small MIDI controller would be the way to go. Using the Stomp you already have the MIDI controller. POD Express does not have MIDI. You'd also want to set the CAB in the PE to OFF. 4) Yes. 5) RTM. It's done using the app. Overall, I think that you'll be better off sticking to the HXSXL. This is not an application for which the POD Express was designed and it brings nothing to the table but size.
rwinking
So I tried it out with a Plethora X5 and it works great. Please understand that this would be for small acoustic gigs where I just need verb and delay. I don't know if I am making it up, but the IRs seems to sound a little better on the powercab vs on my QC or SXL. I downloaded 5 different acoustic guitars and it is nice to have choices. I don't need the MIDI function on these gigs....basically I just plug into the Grace Felix and out to FX, back to the Felix and then into the PC. I will have whichever acustic IR I like and then I don't need to change it so I am good there. Thanks for the help!
