Another noob question - Catalyst and Reaper

So I want to start recording and looks like Catalyst and Reaper works great. But my problem is I want to hear sounds from Reaper through my computer speakers not Catalyst. Right now every sound like metronome, or backing track that I loaded to Reaper goes through Catalyst. I don't want this.      targetpayandbenefits

Is it possible to do that?

ASIO requires using the same ASIO device for both Input and Output.

You can connect your speakers to the Cat's HP Out and put the Cat in MUTE mode, but if you want to play along/record simultaneously your guitar will then be routed to the speakers. You can't separate the playback/direct monitor functions.

You need to get a separate Audio Interface and use its ASIO with the speakers connected to that AI and record from the Cat's XLR/DIRECT Out.

Someone copied your post in a lazy and uncreative attempt to make a first time post here, which requires moderator approval. Their post contains a hidden link (at least really small font) which I expect they hope will drive traffic to an external site.

That’s been a recent trend here in moderator world and we try to be on the lookout for it. The post should not have been approved since it violates the Terms of Use here but the link is easily overlooked.
