cmcbroom1
I'm new to midi so bear with me. I have a pod jd500x ran with my evh 5150 iii 50watt. I have channel three working fine. Channel one and two are setup to change with fs 5 and 6 respectively. However the pod changes the channels on the amp but they are both clean and the knobs on the front don't do anything (gain, volume,eq) both switch to the correct channel but they are bot clean and at the same volume and I can adjust them on the amp. Channel 3 is fine on fs7 and everything works correctly. What could be wrong?
radatats
how are you connected to the amp? describe your cable hookups.
cmcbroom1
Four cable method with the midi out on the 500x to the midi in on the evh5153 50w
radatats
without any midi hooked up, just the 4cm, what happens if you manually change channels on the amp?
cmcbroom1
With the midi unhooked the channels work normally by pressing them on the amp
radatats
so just to clarify with POD hooked up standard 4CM: - manually changing amp channels: - works as it should, tone changes and associated amp controls function normally on all 3 channels. - this proves that all your connections are right and the amp and POD are functioning normally. - using POD to send midi channel change: - channel 3 (high gain) switches and amp knobs work. - switching to channel 1/2 stays on channel 1, tone remains clean, (knobs work? not sure from your first post). It sounds like your amp switches to high gain (Channel 3) fine but both FS 5 and 6 result in a clean tone (Channel 1). After reading the EVH manual, I think you may have accidentally assigned both FS 5 and 6 to channel 1. The manual states you can assign multiple channel messages to the same channel and it sounds like you may have assigned both switches to Channel 1. Try reprogramming FS 5 and 6 paying attention to the note after step 3 regards pressing channel SELECT {E} twice to switch between Channel 1 and 2. Hope this helps because that's as far as I can go without being there!
cmcbroom1
It will Midi switch between the clean (green) and crunch (blue) on the front of the amp using the 500x on the correct assigned foot switches. They are both clean and the knobs on the evh will not change any thing. No tone or volume controls. If I unhook the midi and change them manually they work fine
cmcbroom1
When I undo the 4 cable method and go straight it works so the problem is in the fx loop apparently. Any ideas in that
radatats
I was wondering about that as a possibility... set up a totally new patch with no effects, just a FX Loop and make sure there is no FS assigned to it so it can't switch off. hook up 4cm, no midi, and check that all channels switch manually and the knobs work for each one. if its all good here you know there is nothing wrong with your setup or your FX loops. set up your midi again on FS5-7. Make the amp relearn the assignments and try it again. if it doesn't work this time I'm stumped...
DarthHollis
There is too much going to get a full understanding of what you are doing. It seems like when you are on FS5 and FS6 you don't have the FX loop engaged. Do you have those switches set up not as ABCD? I have the exact same set up you do and I have no problems at all. Please watch a few of my videos and it should get you straightened out.
