SpiderJam
I've had my AMPLIFi 75 for a couple of days now. Over all I like it, but every time I flip the power switch to turn it on I get a loud pop from the speaker. Does anyone else have this issue? If this is not the norm, I'm going to go through the hassle of swapping it for another one. Thanks.
thiago_gp
I'm no audio/eletric technician but I know a bit about amplifiers, maybe you'll give a penny for what I think it is:If the amplifier makes the loud pop even when no cable is connected, you bet it's the amplifier. I would return it, if your warranty expired I would send it to a technician for evaluation, maybe it's no big deal. Sometimes the switch has some poor contact, he'll swap to another one and problem solved.Inadequate voltage or voltage oscilations in the energy coming out of your wall outlet might be causing this too. Try using a surge protector or try plugging it to a UPS no break, the surge protector regulates the voltage an eletric device receives by blocking or grouding the voltage so that it is safe for the equipment. Same goes for the UPS, but it will condition and equalize the voltage more precisely. The pop you hear might be some extra voltage, this might damage the device pretty bad. Charlie_Watt
Some amps do this and some are designed not to do this. We need other owners to pipe up here.
archtopeddy
I have the 150. I do not get a pop -- loud or otherwise -- when I turn on my amp.
SpiderJam
The amp pops the speaker at turn on when it's been off for a short time, with or without a guitar cable connected. I've also tried it powered through a Furman power supply and it still pops. Looks like I will be swapping it out. :(
vlxjim
I have the 150 and there is no pop. Just the lightest noise not a pop more like a low huff.
Old_School_LP
My AMPLiFi 75 does it too. I originally bought the floor model. It did it too. I just exchanged it for a brand new one in the box. Same thing.. No big deal I guess.. I'm also getting a LOT of noise and Humm on medium to high gain settings even with the noise gate on.. Anyone else?? michaeltyyz
I haven't had problems with gain - just the popping sound.
SpiderJam
Got the replacement amp. Same exact popping sound at turn on. Looks like I'm just going to have to live with it. :(
jhschmitt
I get the same popping sound when turning on my Amplifi 75 or Spider IV 150. I thought it was just a quirk of Line 6 amps. It is a little annoying. Did it once with the headphones on and that hurt a bit.
