  1. would be nice to have a bluetooth VDI transceiver
  2. There's no analog wizardry to level the signal before the piezos hit the DSP? I would think that it could be something between the DSP and the piezos causing the problem.
  3. They probably wont respond because of how aggressive the post sounds.
  4. Fair enough, but in the end, like I've said, there should be a bullet proof mechanism to guard against short circuiting via ground and power connection.
  5. It says to use a TRS when using a power supply, it says nothing about using a TRS at all times. "or use the optional xps-di direct box/power supply and TRS cable" Because you're actually using Ring to power the guitar...... Edit: Again, I think Psarkissian is just saying to play it safe. In reality it most likely wont happen, but why take the chance, is probably what he's saying. My argument is that Line 6 should have made the protection circuit fail proof because it's a ****ing thousand dollar guitar.
  6. This. How asinine is it that this is apparently a thing and there's no mention to use TRS? It's only suggested to use TRS when using a power supply. I honestly think the whole argument about how we should use TRS is just to make absolutely sure there's nothing bad that can happen, which is probably very small in the first place. Either way, the protection should of been built more appropriately for this scenario since nearly all guitarists use mono cables, because again, there is no purpose to use a TRS cable on a normal guitar, and again, no one in the Variax documents does it state that we needed to use a TRS at all times. Either way, I ordered the TRS to TS splitter and I guess I'll just connect to the tip jack to avoid any minor risks. Whatever. 1000 dollars and we have to be afraid of something that most guitarists are probably going to be doing in the first place with this guitar because Line 6 couldn't build a more solid protection circuit
  7. This is probably the closest thing I can find to a converter. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hosa-1-4-TRS-Male-to-Dual-1-4-TS-Female-Adapter-YPP-117-1-4-Stereo-Breakout-/321929583859?hash=item4af47f9cf3:g:fRcAAOSwAKxWVBtt
  8. So we need a connection where ring sleeve is not connected? How are we to be sure it's not connected when running it into a TS jack? So I need to buy some kind of adapter.
  9. Also, if we need to use TRS does it really matter? Doesn't the end result connect to a TS jack if it's say, an amp? So you're still connecting ground ring and sleeve, just at the other end of the cable. ???????????????????????????????????
  10. It is poor design. So apparently I can't use my Amplug anymore because it's only Tip+Sleeve. Thanks I really appreciate that. If this is the case then I guess they should of specifically told everyone not to use mono cables, something that A LOT of people are probably going to do because most guitarists just use those cables for their guitars in the first place, so you're telling me that everyone is going around damaging their guitars because Line 6 weren't smart enough to design a circuit that makes sure that it doesn't get shorted out when using a mono cable. Ok so I guess that means there's a crap load of guitarists getting ready for a dead variax soon.
  11. Sadly, the pot itself is going to be how tight the knob is.
  12. I still can't tell if he's saying mono 1/4 cables are bad by itself when using the Variax. It seems a bit anal, and I would of heard about this earlier. A lot of guitarists use mono 1/4 cables for guitars as there's not really any need for a stereo cable with guitars. Like I said, I use amplugs which are mono, is that going to damage my Variax or is the whole notion of using a TRS cable suggested towards using a VDI cable at the same time?
  13. We should be using TRS cables? Or only when using the VDI with the 1/4? I have amplugs that I like to use on my Variax that are mono jack.
  14. I just picked up my 600 which has the same modeling engine as 1.9 and there are tones I like I have on it. The old modeling seems to be able to pull off brighter sounding patches better. It's all preference I guess.
  15. They obviously have an ADSR system built in for models like the banjo. I think it would be awesome to have as a controllable variable in workbench.
  16. 500 and 700 are the same/alike 300 and 600 are the same/alike 300/600 use the coffin casing. 500/700 don't use the coffin casing.
  17. So I got bored a few nights ago and since I have a new good solder gun, I opened up my 600 and tried resoldering the volume and tone pots I replaced. Guitar's 1/4 output works good now! Moral of the story, buy good solder equipment.
  18. Honestly I think the problem might be the preamp for the piezos, hence why switching piezos makes the problem swap.
