  1. Sorry ,but can't help but be other than hugely impressed by the fact that you did a 5 hour gig in the hot sunshine , i'd have given up way before the Helix.:-)
  2. I'm quoting you phil_m because you were the one that initially engaged me in conversation, and i'd just like to say a massive thank you, not only for that, but also for being the voice of reason. :-) Massive thanks to Frank at Line 6,..and to quote spikey.
  3. You're not quite grasping this one mate, it's just the nature of having such an expensive unit as the helix, that it has to be fully insured, it is what it is, and i never blamed anyone. Still doesn't mean that i have to accept that, and as i mentioned earlier , i won't be either. Are there really that many "Bad" units these days ?, if that is the case, then i don't think that puts Line 6 in a particularly good light, but you're quite obviously one of the lucky ones, and if you'd be happy to pay the $72 to have yours repaired whist still under warranty, then that's your prerogative. The same amount for a unit not under warranty ?, then yes i could understand that. You obviously have the patience of a Saint :-) Seems like you've had more than your share of bad luck , or whatever else you'd like to call it , I think i may well have just thrown the towel in a lot earlier . There are an awful lot of "Going beyond the call of duty" type L6 customer service stories, and i don't doubt any of them, but they only serve to alienate those other customers that may feel let down by their experience. From experience ,I'd offer Mesa/Boogie, and Morley pedals as two US companies that do offer good worldwide customer support.
  4. Yes, i appreciate that there will be some new and interesting additions in the next update , but the hardware fault so early on for me , it doesn't really inspire confidence in the Helix. They are happy to repair it , but the Helix would have to be sent to the repair centre fully insured as they request , so there is no way out of it really with it being an expensive unit , it's just the nature of the beast , and though it's seen by Line 6 as a free repair under warranty , the reality is that it's actually a $72 fix regardless of the problem. Just to add, the shop i purchased it from online would also post it to the repair centre for free, but the cost for me to send it there is the same, so makes no difference unfortunately.
  5. No, i'm in the UK, so i contacted Line 6 , who then suggested that i contacted the shop i bought it from, who in turn put me directly to a service centre here in the UK. I'm not even saying i had a bad experience, the majority of the customer service reports i saw prior to purchase had been positively glowing, so i thought i had good reason to have a certain level of expectation there. In 20 odd years of using Boss multi fx i never had one faulty unit..my first Line 6 one though goes wrong within the first 7 months , though it was possibly faulty when purchased, it just took me that long to plug in headphones. Still doesn't fill me with enormous confidence in the Helix , so i plan to just sell it on with the inherent fault, and if someone else wants to have it repaired under warranty then good luck to them.
  6. Probably means that for some people, their customer service experience is different from yours and probably the majority of users on here. Personally i don't feel that paying $72 dollars fully insured to ship a faulty unit that i paid $1300 for, and is still under warranty, is that good a customer experience. You can look at it any way you like, but that is the amount i'd be required to pay to repair a faulty headphone out, and i don't think that's acceptable,...part of Line 6's t&c's ? ...yes, absolutely, still doesn't make it right though. The Helix is a good unit, and Line 6 make some great products, which i will still continue to buy , but i would never buy another Helix based on my experience.
  7. Wow ,that is amazing, how old was your Helix LT ?, and how much extra did it cost to upgrade to the floor version?
  8. Easy to do all editing on a Mac, though you may have problems adjusting settings on the fly at a gig, the screen on the floor is still pretty big though. Scribble strips would probably not be advantageous to you . I went from a TC G-System to a Helix, and the footswitches on the TC are way better, nice and big, the helix ones are tiny by comparison, and i have on a few occasions hit the wrong switch. There are switch toppers you can get to fix to the existing switches which would give you a bigger target to hit though, so that could make things a bit easier for you.
  9. Maybe something as simple as enabling input monitoring on the track you are recording on.
  10. A good few of the questions were just not relevant to me in particular ..What do you like or dislike about how Powercab sounds and feels?, when i answered 'no' to having tried one the previous question. I've never been a fan of demoing gear instore anyway, because sure as hell you take it home, and it doesn't quite sound the same. At that price point , I'd need a week and couple of full rehearsals with a Powercab, before i could make a decision on one. You tube vids give no clue as to how it actually sounds as there are just way too many factors to consider when listening. You can also buy a Fender HRD for less than the 112 plus model , and although it may be defeating the purpose, at least you know exactly what you'd be buying into. The Laney 112 FRFR is half the price of the line 6, and i've heard some positive things about it ,so were i to take a punt, it'd be on that.
  11. Just wondering if anyone has encountered a similar problem to mine involving the headphone input ?. Bought my Helix floor June last year, an ex demo model at just a shade under the normal price , and with full warranty. All was well until a few months later when i plugged in phones for the first time to do some drone editing, only to hear all sorts of random sounds drifting in and out ,and on occasion cutting out all together. Touching the phones volume or putting my hand anywhere near that panel area affected the sound and made it completely unusable through the headphones. I don't know with it being ex demo whether it was an issue prior to sale or not, so it is possible that it was sold on to me with the same problem, though not something that i became aware of initially because it wasn't till a few months later when i first plugged in the phones. I hasten to add that Line 6 US have been excellent and addressed my problem very promptly, so the unit will be sent away for repair here in the UK at the first possible opportunity. Seems like a 2-3 week turnaround ,but unfortunately i have no 2-3 week window where i'm not playing, so currently, i just carry on using it regardless. Had i used the headphones jack on day one, the unit would have been immediately sent back whence it came, and replaced without issue , so another lesson learnt there for me.
  12. I am still a valve amp guy, and i've owned a few over thirty or so years of gigging , though i've come to the conclusion that whether i'm using a Fender ,Orange, Marshall, whatever, .. my current Mesa, that i just end up getting them all to sound the way i like them to sound. The problem i have live is the mic'ing up of an amp, which can fluctuate massively based on there being so many permutations,.. so the Helix could cure that problem ? Absolutely,.. i'm using the Helix in the fx loop of my amp, so i still have the amp in the room thing going on , yet i get a consistent pa sound without a mic, and tbh it sounds way better front of house than the old mic ever did. I've plugged into a lot of those valve amps that i mentioned , and on first impression was less than impressed ,then spent some time tweaking them till i really liked them. The Helix is no different, but it does so much more as well, and i'm still very much loving scratching the surface.
  13. Yes, you can do this in command centre per snapshot. Plug in to Ext Amp on the Helix ,then to your Mesa's footswitch ,then Choose ext amp from command ,then just change between tip, ring, or both . It's exactly how i use it with my Mesa. It'll change the channels as you move it ,so you'll see what changes occur on the amp. I think 1-tip and 2-ring change between clean and dirty on mine.
  14. This any use ? L6 H-Floor Sticker A4 Print .pdf
