What happens if you're supposed to use instrument level but you keep using line? In my situation, using sometimes Helix in 4cm I've never heard that much of a difference in sound but I've always liked the sound with line level a bit more. Any cons?

Hi, I'm trying to replicate what John does in this video at 5:50. The goal is to change snapshots (in a custom order) pressing just one button, but when I set the order (as in the video below) Helix remembers only 4 snapshots, precisely the first and last two. So for example if my order is: snap1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Helix remembers only 1,2,7,8. I tried to delete the command, change preferences (discard to recall), and even reboot the device. Nothing fixes it. Any help? Thanks!

Alright, I will! Thanks for your help!!

I'd like it to be stereo cause many of my patches have ambient stuff using stereo blocks etc.. After your explanation it's starting to make more sense so I watched again the Castellano video and I noticed he has the stereo mix from the mixer in return 1 and 2, should I do the same thing? Also I don't understand why he splits off the main signal with the "Send/return Send 1" block, it says everything after goes to your ears but that's only guitar, not the entire band/backing tracks; For that he uses another blank signal path.. why doesn't he put everything (guitar mix + band mix) on that path in the middle? Maybe because he wants to EQ (or else) his guitar alone and differently instead of EQing it along with the entire band mix? This gets confusing to me, I would EQ the entire mix I get from the sound guy in one single path, so should I use that Send/Return block or just that blank signal path in the middle would be enough?

It's starting to look more clear now. So just to double check, I just have to normally send my guitar (I don't sing) in stereo through XLR to the mixer and the mixer sends me back my personalized mix as it would be sent to a monitor on stage, but where exactly do I have to plug it, into one of the sends or returns in the back? Also should I add any send/return block into my path or it would work right away without adding blocks or parallel paths to my patch?

Thanks for replying, I'm very confused with what goes to the mixer and what comes back to the Helix and if I have to set a specific path on the Helix patch what would it be? We don't use backing tracks or click, this is just for me to avoid having a wedge speaker on stage and be able to hear myself along with the entire band. I'm a total noob on this topic, I apologize!

Hello there, I'm starting to use my Helix floor XLR stereo direct to mixing board for live gigs and I was wondering if I could have some help in using Helix also as IEM instead of using standard wedge speakers. I watched the Richie Castellano video on YouTube and a couple of others but its a totally new topic for me and I'm having a hard time understanding the routing involved between the device and the mixer. Can you please help? Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, I was wondering what would be the best way to use the Neural DSP plugins (Plini, Wong, etc..) in a DAW through an Helix floor purely as AI. I tried my best to find the right setup but the latency is horrible! I'm using Reaper as DAW on a laptop (i7 - 6700HQ quad-core 2.6 Ghz, 8gb ram) and I'm monitoring through my headphones. Do I need a dedicated AI for this matter or Helix can do the work as well? Please let me know, thanks!

So I witnessed real MAGIC for once! I totally get your point and you're right; I've also compared the Dhyana Drive with my original Zendrive but again, you never know if it was the same version modeled. I had the feeling that you need to work a lot (at least for me) in order to get a "good" sound, and that definitely shows I need to spend more time learning this magical device called Helix. As for the Custom Audio, yes it is expensive but I guess because has been discontinued. It's a great amp but heavy as hell in terms of weight, that's why I was hoping to replace it somehow for live gigs.. but this thought always leaves me after playing it and then I realize I would rather get a herniated disk than replacing it with something else.

Thanks for the info! So, I just used my Helix right now (everything was left as it was: cables, saved patch on the Helix, etc..) and it magically works.. I'm trying to figure out what could have caused the problem but I have no idea. But I have another question, is it normal that the overdrives (king of tone, zen drive, minotaur) sound a bit off? I have the impression that they don't sound similar as if their corresponding pedal would be plugged straight into the amp.

Yes, I checked many times both wiring and quality of the cables. I'm using a Custom Audio Amp OD-100. (amp itself works great so no tubes issue or else)
-
Yes, everything is at the right volume. I noticed there's a tiny speck of sound coming from the amp as if something is turned way too low.

Hi everyone! I'm trying to use the Helix 4cm with my tube amp but I don't have sound at all; I checked the cables routing and quality, everything's fine. I might be wrong but as far as I know, you need to use the Fx Loop block in order to create the virtual image of your amp in the Helix path so you can add effects before or after. Now, is this the right way to do it or should I use 2 blocks (send and return) rather than all in 1 block? Also, what should I set the 1/4 inch out and the send 1 and return 1, line or instrument? (so far 1/4 inch out is on line and every send and return is on instrument). Thanks in advance for your help!
