  1. Yeah. I agree with Ozbadman here. Apple announce when they are releasing and stick too it. The example quoted was a known release plan so at least you knew up front. I have never failed to pick up an iPhone on release day. I definitely have never queued for one as well. No sign of the Helix still. I am actually holding off writing new album material as I wanted to see what I could work up on the Helix!
  2. I am with you there McB. Haha! That day will never come. Maybe there is an argument for replacing the drummer with a drum machine :D But then a drum machine can't steal your money, clothes and girlfriend so where is the fun in that. Haha!
  3. Hi McBeddall Just round the corner from me but they don't do Line 6. very small outlet as well. Thanks anyway.
  4. Fixed is good for recording and On The Fly is good for live. As mentioned the HD POD series allows for both.
  5. Hi Just an update on my own post to say that even Line 6 can't answer this. Tried contacting EU support in Belgium and they don't have units to physically test for my issue. They will get them when the EU can buy them apparently but that may be too late for me. I will let you know when I know.
  6. Hi Bond19 Any luck with this? Seems I can only ask those that actually have a Firehawk. Just an update to say that even Line 6 can't answer this. 8. Hi Thanks for all your comments. MCBEDALL hit the nail on the head when he said 'He's asking if you tap the tempo in for a delay and then switch patches does the tempo carry over to the next patch or do you have to tap it in everytime you change patches' If you follow the steps and make a note of result it will prove or disprove this. Your help is appreciated, Punkster
  9. No problem Bond19 I too will end up with a HD500X (as I have a DT25 as well) and the Firehawk (as it is easy to use). I have recorded a couple of albums just using the FX100. Cheers
  10. I am thinking of swapping out my HD400 for a Firehawk but there is one think I need to know? It's still not available in the UK but if anyone has one can you run a test for me please? 1. Set up any patch with a delay button in it, i.e. digital delay. Set tap tempo to 180bpm 2. Save the patch 3. Switch to any other patch 4. Tap the tap tempo button to any other setting than 180 bpm, i.e. very slow tap or a very high tap rate. 5. Switch to new patch in step 1. Does the patch selected take the tap tempo you programmed in (in step 1) or does it keep the tempo of the patch you tapped out (in step 4)? This is important because when playing live I need to tap the tempo in before switching patches (very erratic drummer.. haha)! I have an FX100 which doesn't allow this which means you have to switch patch and then tap which sounds stupid as it takes a while for the FX100 to figure out what you are after. By the way the HD400 does this the correct way and will retain whatever setting is tapped in last (not the programmed version). It's a big buying factor for me. Daying that the FX100 is brilliant in terms of programming and changing tones so I expect the Firehawk to be similar. However, without the above I may as well keep the FX100 Thanks people.
  11. I have a HD400 if you want to trade with the Firehawk? As new, manuals, boxed etc.
  12. Hi Big deal breaker for me this. FX100 is really good. Surprised me in fact and have used a combo of tones on new CD... available on iTunes... haha! So Tap Tempo? I need to tap the tempo before I select the 'patch'. So I tap in say 180 bpm on the tap button. I want that to stay as the default tempo for whatever patch I select. This can be done on the HD400 but not the FX100! On the FX100 if I tap out the rhythm and then select a patch it takes the tempo assigned to the patch . No good live. Cheers Punkster
  13. Thanks for info Triryche Tough to demo as no guitar shops as such in peterborough, UK! But I agree it is a personal preference thing. Just sharing what I know about the Amplify and Pod range that I have to help people to decide on where to head. Regards Point 5. In hindsight I think it was a thread discussing Amplifi and HD500x where I think the thread may have gone off piste at some point. It did make me want to ask the question though. Point 9 added again for peoples info as I understand it. HD400 has Line6 Port (which allows control of DT25 and DT50 amps direct from the footswitch). No such port on the Firehawk. Could you the Firehawk FX Loop but not quite the same thing. Brilliant that there is bank up and down switches though as the tapping of 2 FX100 switches to go up and down was prone to error. Independent switching for FX (5 switches) is great as it means I am not limited to just the 4 settings discussed above. Makes it 20 available I think (maybe more in combination) A big requirement for me is to be able to use the Tap function independently of the programmed tone. FX100 tone set with a delay of say 180bpm is locked into the system so I can't switch from A to D (for example) to anything other than 180bpm without tapping again and this is useless when playing live. Hopefully I can tap on intro and then just kick in the delay as required. Hopefully that makes sense. I read somewhere that the tones for Firehawk are in packs. Does this means additional purchases? Outputs look more like the HD400 on the Firehawk but FX100 outputs are comprehensive anyway (other than the Line 6 Port). Wish it had a 'kettle' lead though I guess this bulks up the pedal. Nice to have LCD of loaded tone on Firehawk. HD400 has a proper looper. Fire hawk doesn't I believe. Hope the update helps? Punkster
  14. Firstly, can I say that I think the FX100 is great. I have had many effects / pedals in the past and usually just gone back to Marshall and Guitar and ditch everything else. I do have an HD400 but never really tweaked it much and the PC editor was good but a bit of a faff to use. maybe over complicated for an average user. For the record I have used FX100 for rehearsals and recording (released material) and it is very effective (I reckon it could easily be used live but I have held back due to potential for monitoring concerns). Try and play tones loud when you get the chance as they come alive more than just listening at home. I use it with a bank of settings using the same Amp. So A is Amp only, B is Amp + Volume and Reverb (for lead), C is Amp + Phaser, D is Amp + Delay I too am not sure where to head next with regard to the Firehawk. I have a HD400 and an FX100 (and an Amplifi 75). Something has to go! Some differences I would like to understand though: HD400 has Line6 Port (which allows control of DT25 and DT50 amps direct from the footswitch). No such port on the Firehawk. Could you the Firehawk FX Loop but not quite the same thing. Brilliant that there is bank up and down switches though as the tapping of 2 FX100 switches to go up and down was prone to error. 15. Sorry it's been a while but I agree with John61254 Going from left mains out to the FX loop of my DT25 sounds fabulous. The thing that threw me though was that it of course bypasses the amp's preamp but it gives purer tones. i thought the volume with on the amp would actually do something with this setup but volume is influenced by the volume on the FX100 if that makes sense?
  16. Hi Thanks Expert. Tried the 2nd option as I wanted a pure mode as I can hear from the FX100 direct to PA. Thought it wasn't going to work but the volume level on the Amplifi was very low so just had to turn that up to 50% and the amp growled away. I am sure the other option will be fine as well but easier to set the tone up through my home studio and then just use the amp for the extra kick. Are both safe to use with Tube amps? Thanks P
  17. Hi OK I am stuck. How do you put the FX100 through an FX loop of an amp. Not sure what goes in and what comes out! Ta P
  18. Hi John I have no technical knowledge to support my theory that the FX return is safer. Just a hunch really. I agree the fewer cables the better. I will give your preferred setting a go. I do feel there is more to the FX100 then some people are saying as the tones through my home studio setup are great. Hopefully your suggestions will replicate this through my amps. So your setup is just using the mains out (left / mono) instead of using the (more logical) amp out, yes? Can I ask if you have any specific tones settings (or is this just down to individual taste)? As soon as I get time I will try all the options. My DT25 also has a 25w and 11w switch so this could be useful. Both the Mode 4 and the JMD1 go through 4x12 with vintage and greenback setup. The mode for cab / head combo is 350w. That'll shake the neighbours up. Haha! Ta P
  19. Hi John61254 Thanks for the comments. It does seem odd that something called amp out doesn't seem to work! Be good if we could get some Line 6 Guidance on that one. My only concern would be if the direct out could mess up my tube amps. Not sure about the electrical side of all this. Again Line 6 expert? Until I understand that I would probably think that FX loop is 'safer'. Did you try changing the tone settings mentioned earlier in the thread, i.e. dropping the bass and treble out etc. as this sounded like the way to go when outputing direct to an amp. Cheers P
  20. Hi I have an issue with FX100 regarding how tap tempo works. Essentially it is not possible to set the tap tempo whilst playing a different tone which means that you are locked into the tempo that the tone is configured in and can't configure 'on the fly'. Here is my scenario. I made a tone called Fuzztone Fizzadelic (based on the album I did of the same name while playing for a band called The Now). So I have set a bank on the FX100 as follows: A. Fuzztone Fizzadelic (Straight Tone with no effects on) B. Fuzztone Fizzadelic (With volume boost and slight delay for solo's) C. Fuzztone Fizzadelic (With a digital delay set to say 80 bpm) D. Fuzztone Fizzadelic (with a Jet Flanger) So you are playing live and playing a song at 180 bpm using preset A and the solo is coming. You hit preset C and it switches to the 80bpm setting which doesn't fit the tempo of the song! My question (at last). Is there a way to change tap tempo for all 4 presets at the same time so that I can play the delay live? Otherwise you can only use delay for a whole song on a single preset! You really need to tap the tempo before switching. The Line 6 HD400 range does this by allowing the modulation to be either off or on. Of course I could set up all 25 banks with the tap tempo of the album but I really don't trust my drummer. Haha! PS Check out the tone uploaded to the community at Line 6. It's a good old punk tone. Cheers
  21. Hi All Thanks for all of the input into this one. I will certainly try these options, i.e. amp settings going into the front of my amps. By the way, this problem isn't unique to Amplifi, FX100 as I have in the past had spider amps, vyper amps, fender amps, HD400 and always had issues. Just feel inclined to persevere with FX100 as it is simple to use. I'll also give the FX loop a try and get back to you on the results with various amps. I get the points about using the amp purely as an output and not processing an already processed signal. I have to say that the tones in there are pretty good actually. I can get great results via my mixer into my iMac with KRK speakers. really good warm tones, particularly in the overdrive range where tend to operate. So I know they are in there for working with PA's (assuming no connection problems at venue) in live environment. Get back to ya with results.
  22. Hi Does anyone have any recommendations on how to set up an amp to send the FX100 directly out to. I have tried a few options based around my assumption that it is best to have a very clean sound on the amp. However, I have tried on Line 6 DT25, Marshall JMD:1 and Marshall Mode 4 and the results seem really thin and tinny when compared to pushing the amp through my home studio. Am I missing something here? Route is FX100 Amp Out to Amp in Cheers
  23. Hi. Thanks to everyone for your answers. That helps a lot. I am running FX100 through Heath & Allen Mixer at home which works fine through iMac / KRK Monitors. Can I also ask if most live venues would have direct boxes to allow 2 x TRS or Mono Jacks to be converted into XLR, assuming that most venue mixing desks have XLR (and not jack inputs)? Just wanted to avoid loading my tones, taking it out live and finding I can't output the sound! Feels risky but I like the idea of portability. Maybe I have to take head / cab combo with me as backup. Thanks
  24. Hi The suggested setup options when using the FX100 on the line 6 website do not show a link to a PA (there is an option where it says 'speakers'. Just wondered if anyone has been able to connect FX100 (and Amplifi) to a PA? How did you do this and how does it go in the live world? Ta Punkster
