  1. Hi Guys. Would you be able to help with this? I've sent the message below to Line 6 in a 'support ticket'. Latest in the long-running episode: In the vain hope of connectivity between my Variax 500 via Pod XTLive, I downloaded every version of Workbench and only Workbench HD will install on my MacBook (El Capitan OS) and of course 'HD' doesn't work with a Variax 500 (I knew that!). Line 6 Monkey recommends Variax Workbench 1.54 to be installed. I've tried to install this version but I get the following message: "The installation failed. The Installer could not install the software because there was no software found to install". Now I suppose you're going to suggest that I go back to using something like 'Snow Leopard' as my OS - won't happen, I've happily moved on! By the way, all this happened because I didn't have a Variax USB interface for my Variax 500. I was advised (by you at Line 6) that a Pod XTLive would do the trick - NO it doesn't and this is getting frustrating! Please can you sort this one out for good? Regards, Chris
  2. Hi ALL - Can Workbench be accessed via a Guitar Pod XT Live using a Variax 500? Thanks for your input!
  3. Darn! I missed the ebay sale but thanks anyway leesteel - I'm still looking. On the same subject, would an FBV Shortboard perform the same function? Someone has one available on this side-of-the-pond (UK). I appreciate all your help!
  4. Hi ALL - I've just bought a pre-owned Variax 500 and I need the USB interface which did not come with the guitar since that model didn't come with the Workbench software when it was new. I've communicated with the guys at Line 6 in order to try and purchase one from them - NO LUCK and really, NOT very helpful; their only suggestion being that I buy a pre-owned POD in order to access the editing features on my beloved 500! Obviously, as discussed by some of you, this is an expensive option - how much for a cheap circuit board and a plastic box AND Workbench is now a free download from Line 6?!!! (Come on Line 6, this is lollipop!). Mm, obviously 'lollipop' is an automatically generated euphemism - you know what I mean - 'taking advantage' in British English! I am therefore appealing to those JTV owners who have the USB inferface which apparently, was included with their new purchases. Does anyone have one for sale at a 'reasonable price'? I live in the UK and I'm trying to track one down over here but I'm putting this 'out there'. If you can help me out, I'd really appreciate it! Many thanks, Hermes
  5. Attention JTV owners. I need to get hold of a USB Interface for my Variax 500. Does anyone have one for sale. I'm based in the UK. Thanks for your input.

  6. Thanks for your posts 'silverhead' and 'Charlie_Watt'. Now all that remains is to find a way of broadcasting my plight to JTV owners in the hope that one of them will sell me an interface at good price.
  7. Regarding the Variax interface. I have a similar problem in that I recently purchased a Variax 500 (fantastic guitar by the way) but it didn't come with the hardware interface. Now, I'm trying to get one. I live in the UK and Thomann (Germany) sell the Workbench software with the interface package. My gripe is that I already have the software - thanks for the freebie Line 6, but I'll be looking at spending around £90 for the hardware interface - ridiculous! What a shameful exploitation of Line 6 customers! The device probably costs less than £10 to manufacture. I've emailed Line 6 and their advice so far, is to try and get hold of an HD500 effects pedal (NOT the HD500X - NOT compatible) but I've got effects pedals coming out of my ears! Besides on a recent search on ebay, a used HD500 is around £150-200 so that's obviously NOT a solution. Come on Line 6, as someone has already commented, you make GREAT products now, how's about some GREAT customer support? Let me have my hardware interface for a 'reasonable' price. MAKE ME HAPPY! Please!
