    Variax Support?

The Helix Hardware has good support for the Variax. Wondering if the software will integrate somehow with the Variax? I know the communication with the Variax is currently limited over USB, but because the VDI spec is closed we have no idea of what's possible using that or USB. FYI.. Here's my ideascale to build a stand-alone Variax interface that could be used along with Helix Native.
  2. Hello, i´m really excited from this AMP but there is still something to improve *imho - Why is it not possible to get tones from the cloud with the PC-Remote-App?? - Recording over USB with dry and wet Signal? - Dry and Wet Signal for the Direct Outs? - PODfarm-Tones not compatible with Spider-Tones. Why? - a record mode for the FBV2 to start/stop/record the Loop with the Pedal I hope there are some Ideas for the next update :)
  3. Thanks everyone for getting into the Spider V. We hope you’re enjoying all that it has to offer. We’ve found that with certain new product launches, it’s helpful to keep a running thread of your experiences with connecting various Android mobile devices, whether it works or not. With such a wide variance in offerings and specs, it’s impossible for us to test all of them, so maybe this thread will help answer some customer questions, while possibly helping Line 6 spot issues/trends with a given group of devices. Here is the Spider V / Android Device USB Compatibility Check article that should help you find out if your device support USB Host Mode, which is required for the Spider V Remote app to communicate with Spider V amplifiers. Please post your device model, Android OS, and Compatibility Check results. Thanks for your input. Please remember to visit https://line6.ideascale.com with any feature requests you may have.
  4. Working through issues with my brand-new Helix LT, so far Line 6 Customer Support has been quick to engage and support: Initially the Helix LT was unable to connect to either Helix Editor or Line 6 Updater applications - first with a MacBook Pro laptop running MacOS El Capitan. Switching to an iMac running MacOS Sierra, I was able to successfully update the Helix LT to firmware version 2.21.0. I subsequently updated the operating system on the MacBook Pro laptop to Mac OS Sierrra. Now the Helix LT will temporarily connect to the computers with Helix Editor software, then dis-connect with a yellow-bar error message stating "Service is not online." Subsequent attempts to connect are unsuccessful, sometimes with an error message stating "Cannot connect to device." Both computers, two USB cables supplied with Line 6 hardware, all available USB ports on the computers... same dealio. Not working!! My original Helix Floor unit connects successfully to both computers - with both of the USB cables I have - and there appear to be no issues with navigating the setlists, presets, etc. Exporting the files to the local storage disks also works OK. NO CONNECTIVITY ISSUES WITH THE ORIGINAL HELIX FLOOR. Curious to see if other early adopters of the newly-released Helix LT are experiencing similar problems with USB connections and Helix Editor + Line 6 Updater applications. Possibly this is more specific to Apple/Mac devices & not Windows/PC devices?? Thanks for any helpful input, KWH

    Connecting Pod HD to amplifi

I have been searching for an answer but am. It able to find anything, so I will post my question. i have both an Amplifi 75 and a pod HD bean. Although I really enjoy the amplifi as is, there are times where I would like to plug my HD into it to utilize the amps, effects, editing etc. In essence use the Amplifi as a set of speakers. I have read and tried with variable success using the aux in jack. I was wondering though if you can attach the pod HD to the amplifi with the USB port. I used this in past through my computer and it worked really well. Just asking as I noticed that in the manual for the amplifi it has changed from “future use” to audio in/out for recording. Anyone tried this or have any knowledge about this. Asking before I start plugging in this where they may not be meant to go.

    Helix USB stability

Hi all, Just did the firmware update on my helix LT (2.70) and It now seems to have a stability issue when using Helix as an audio interface. Every half hour or so, the usb seems to disconnect for about a second or so and switchs back to the inboard sound card of the PC. It then reconnects as quickly as it has quit and works fine for another half hour approx. I was wondering if anyone had had this problem too? Helix is the only device connected via USB and if I don't use it as an interface (say I only use the midi over usb fuction) It works fine... I don't reject the PC being a possible cause for this problem but it didn't behave that way prior to update... Thanks

    FireHawk USB Question

Hi everyone, I just bought a Firehawk, and so far I am pretty pleased with it. I have a couple of questions: (thanks in advance) 1) I want to connect my ipad to the usb port in the back of the firehawk, but I don't know what type of usb port that is so I can buy it on line. It has this "funny" type shape. 2) I am plugging the output to an amp, does it matter what type of guitar cable I use (balance, unbalanced, etc) Same with the cable going to my student montiors (I am using a three prong cable for that.. not sure what the of the cable is...I am knew to all this) Thank you, Lguitarjsm
  8. Hi All, Just upgraded my firmware to 2.70 from 2.54 and now my USB audio is very distorted. Helix sounds are fine but any audio coming back from the mac via either the system or my DAW are now very distorted. I installed the latest drivers and read the notes about allowing them through Mac OS X's security features in 10.13 and onward however I never got the prompt for this and it doesn't show up in the privacy settings either. Tried the usual restarting of everything with no luck, anyone else experiencing any problems using the helix as an audio interface?
  9. Just spent a few frustrating days trying to get Line 6 usb drivers for Helix and Variax to load successfully. Admittedly I hadn't connected either to my PC for a while, so a lot could have changed in that time. To cut a long story short, the resolution for me has been to turn off Memory integrity in Core isolation in the Windows Defender Security Centre. Neither my audio interface nor phone had problems, so in my limited sample set only the Line 6 drivers were struggling. Is this a known phenomenon? Should the drivers load with Memory integrity enabled? In both cases the drivers are the current versions (1.91.0.0 and 1.0.7.2 for Helix and Variax respectively). I tried earlier Helix drivers but they had the same problem. My OS is Windows 10 Home, Version 1803.

Sending USB Midi tempo - iPad to Helix

Hello everyone, I need send a USB MIDI tempo from iPad to Helix. How I configure a Helix to receiving the MIDI parameters? I searching about for this here, but I don't find it. Tks
  12. To whom it may concern; here's how you get your POD HD Pro to function properly with a linux based OS. First off, you need a supported OS to run inside of your Linux OS, so get yourself a disc image (.iso) of Windows/OS-X. Note that I have only tried this with Windows XP Pro 32-bit under Ubuntu 12.04, so I really have no idea whether or not it works the same for OS-X and/or other hosts. Next, you'll need to set up a virtual system using a neat application called VirtualBox. Instructions on how to do this can be found in this video: (Virtualbox can be downloaded from https://www.virtualbox.org/) Now, once you've got your virtual system up and running and have installed the guest additions and what not, there are a few steps you need to take in order to enable USB support in you guest OS: 1. Shut down your virtual machine. 2. Connect your Pod. 3. In the Virtualbox UI, go to the virtual machine's "settings" page. 4. Under the "USB" tab, make sure that the option "Enable USB controller" is checked. Make sure the option "Enable USB 2.0 (EHCI) controller" is NOT checked. 5. Below the two aforementioned options is a list of USB device filters (probably empty). Click the small icon on the right hand side to add a filter, you should see your Pod listed along with any other connected devices. Create a filter for the Pod (no need to change any filter settings), and make sure it is checked. 6. There is a user group created by VirtualBox, called "vboxusers". You need to add yourself to this group. If you do not have the "Users and Groups" application in your user interface, open a terminal and enter the following command: sudo adduser "username" vboxusers, "username" being whatever your username is (without the quotation marks). 7. Reboot your computer. 8. Run your virtual machine and connect you Pod. If it isn't recognized by the guest OS, look under "Devices"»"USB devices" in the top menu bar. Make sure the Pod is checked. That should be just about it, although I may have left something out.
  13. Hello, I cannot seem to get the dry tracking option working in ProTools with my Helix. I've tried reading the Helix manual, looking through Helix posts, ProTools posts and any videos I can find but nothing so far. Here is what I have set up: In Helix I have: USB connected to Windows 10 PC in Global Settings I have USB In 1/2 set to Multi In the patch I have output set to Multi In ProTools I have: Playback Engine set to Helix I/O is reset to default with the Helix settings that populate automatically Tried mono track set to input 7 as well as input 8 and get no audio Tried stereo track set to input 7/8 and have no audio In Windows I have: Audio device to recording and playback set to Helix If I select input 1 I can record the processed track fine...no issues, but I cannot get the dry track to record. This is my first time trying this as I have always recorded the XLR out of Helix into my Focusrite interface. I wanted to try recording a dry track so I can use Helix Native to process the sound. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!
  14. Just set up my old Pod XT Live on new(ish) Win10 x64 machine. All drivers are now installed and up to date (according to the latest version of Monkey). Everything seems to work fine except there is quite a delay between hitting a string on my guitar and hearing the output via my soundcard. I could just monitor using headphones into the Pod, but it would be nice not to have to if there is any way to fix this issue. Is it just because I'm basically using two sound devices and the signal is being routed from the Pod through my soundcard, or is there something I can tweak somewhere that might fix it? Cheers for any help.

USB connection causing NOISE with 4CM

I love using the helix with my real tube amp. I can use the real amp-sounds and just effects and/or the preamp modulation from helix and a real power amp kicking a real cab. Now, I would reaaaally love to have the helix connected to my DAW at the same time so I could also record and reamp the signals but plugging the USB between my helix and my mac causes all the speakers go justinbieberbangingcyborgbritneyspearsbrmmmmmmmm : C I haven't had this kind of problem with any other gear in my home studio. Any ideas? I could just use the analogue connections back and forth between my mixer but would love to skip all the A/D/A-conversions...

    Pod HD 500 USB Problem

Hi all I have a problem with my POD HD. The USB is not working properly. My POD connect to the PC only if I start (or restart) the latter whit my POD on. If I connect the POD after computer is switched on POD edit show the message "POD not Connected" and the POD is not in the list of the PC's Playback Device. So if I restart the computer all works. Does anyway have this problem? I have also noticed that the USB connection on the POD is quite loose. Thanks in advance Carmine
  17. I purchased a Relay G10 about 45 days ago and have had nothing but problems. My first gig the day of purchase went fairly well, only one dropout about 35 feet from the receiver all night. The following week I plugged it in at a venue and the receiver was completely dead. No LEDs. I was forced to revert back to wire. I got home and plugged it in and it worked. I thought maybe I had a bad electrical outlet. The following week at another venue I again had the same issue. Completely dead. I tried several different outlets to no avail. Reverted back to wire. Tried it at home again later, worked fine. Next gig the unit powered up however I had to stand directly next to the receiver. Any further than 7 feet away I lost signal. Uplugged it and reverted back to wire. So this goes on for weeks. Sometimes it works great but more often it doesn't. I try it again at home and this time it doesn't work. I check the outlet and the cables and to my shock I find the USB cable can be plugged in backwards! And of course it doesn't work plugged in backwards. I test it with another cable and find it can be plugged in and seated completely backwards as well. Looking at the receptacle in the power supply I found a non-standard pin type connector rather than a USB connector. Its a very disappointing design and does not meet the keyed criteria of the USB specifications. So Friday I took it to an important gig now conscious of the connector polarity issue, plugged it in and it is dead. No lights. I swap the polarity and nothing. Dead. I look at the receptacle connections and find the first two pins are bent completely sideways flattened against the bottom of the connector. I revert back to wire. So yesterday I Googled this problem and discovered that this has been a major issue with the product since 2016. Why do you sell stuff that has known problems that can be easily re-engineered? And why would a person who discovered that you sell stuff that is known to have problems (that you don't fix) continue to by Line 6 products? And since its been more than 30 days how do I get my money back for this thing?
  18. For the Helix Floor, is there a way to control the volume of the USB 1/2 out with the EXP Pedal? I can control the volume with the volume knob but for stage performance, I would like to use the EXP pedal. I am connecting the Helix via USB to my laptop or iPad to play tracks. Thanks!
  19. Once I updated my Macbook Pro late 2013 to MacOS Sierra 10.12 the UX2 usb audio interface crashes the computer. Everytime I plug in the ux2 interface, the computer immediately restarts and gives the error message (white text on black background). I have tried both of my Mac's usb slots, tried taking everything off of the interface (monitors etc.) and tried it with and without power cable on my computer. Also, when I try to start my computer while the UX2 is plugged in, the Mac's starting screen has some white error messages and then the computer restarts. Nothing helps. So atm I CAN'T USE THE INTERFACE AT ALL. Pod Farm software doesn't seem to have any problems. Please tell me if you've had these problems or you can help.

    Is the USB output Balanced?

Hi everyone, I know that my question is probably very stupid, but like someone has said ages ago, there are no stupid questions but there are stupid answers :] So recently I was thinking about the quality of my recordings. I use Helix as my interface and I record via USB 1 and 2 set in my DAW. But there sound seams to be unbalanced... I am not sure, if the usb transfers an unbalanced or balanced signal? When I plug monitors wia XLR cables, the sound is much more tight and clear. If someone could help me and provide a solution for using helix as an interface but recording balanced sound. If it is impossible, than what should I do to record balanced sound? The reason for me to use helix as an interface is simple, I like keep things minimal and also I often record while I travel. So caring another interface would be adding an extra bag. I need to figure it out, Helix + Laptop + monitors = recording balanced output. If another interface is the only solution than I would assume that I should use XLR outs L and R from Helix, direct the sound to another Interface (Could you recommend any please?) and than from that interface use an usb cable to connect to my laptop, right? Thank you for reading my post and possible answers and good solutions, PEACE!
  21. A couple of weeks ago the USB quit in my HD 500. Now the unit is in a boot loop and when I run the diagnostics the SDRAM test never finishes. Is there a document that tells how to use the diagnostic mode? Monkey can't see it to re-flash. There are no service center within 300 miles of here. Is there a document that tells which chips are the SDRAM? Is there a document that tells how to use JTAG To diagnose this? or am I stuck and now just need a new unit? Since I am a loyal Line 6 Customer (POD 2.0 , SPIDER VALVE I and II, POD HD and HD 500, JT Variax) maybe they can cut me a deal on a helix? Does anyone know what the reliability of the helix unit is like?
  22. Does anyone have any information concerning using and/or assigning USB audio I/O channels 3, 4, 5, and 6 in the Helix? I am trying to configure a wet/dry/wet DAW recording path using USB 1/2 as the stereo wet output and one of the above USB audio channels as the "dry" output. I want the dry output to contain everything from the guitar through the amp, therefor; I do not want to use USB audio channel 7 or 8, as they contain only the raw guitar audio. Sending wet/dry/wet out through the connectors is no problem. I would just plug into my mixer, but unfortunately, it has only 2-in/2-out USB audio. I see all of the Helix USB audio channels in my DAW, but cannot figure out how to, for example, assign a Helix effects loop out to a USB audio channel. Are there any other alternatives? I have attached an MS Word file of everything I have been able to find on the USB audio and MIDI I/O concerning the Helix, if it should help anyone. Please let me know if there is anything I should add or correct. Thanks, everyone! HELIX USB and MIDI Matrix.docx
  23. I made a good faith effort to look for this on the site before starting this topic. If I missed it, I apologize. I'm trying to do something pretty simple: take video with ihpone, with the audio coming from Helix via the USB port, connected through an iphone camera connector adaptor. I thought I had this working a couple weeks ago. But now, there's no audio coming through when I try to record video. I was wondering if maybe there's a hidden volume function or virtual port that got turned off in the iphone.... Thanks for any suggestions!
  24. Imagine if Line6 made an iPad/iPhone looper app along the lines of GroupTheLoop or Quantiloop (but better) that had the added USP of being able to communicate two-way with the HELIX - so that by going into a special "Looper App Mode" the HELIX scribble strips behaved like an improved version of the built-in looper- but in a way where the labels would synchronise ( using OSC etc ? ) with the iOS app. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/idea-v2/902705
  25. hello, I'm pretty new to MIDI, but since I recently bought a KORG Volca Keys unit, I was wondering if I could use my Toneport KB37 as the MIDI controller for this device without first going through a computer? I'm asking because in all the forums and manuals it always mentions going through a computer, and of course the kb37 does not have the MIDI DIN connector. if I get a USB-MIDI converter cable (or SPDIF-MIDI??), can I just plug the kb37 into the Volca and have it work? what kind of cable do I need, in case it needs a special cable? and, you know: just all the other silly noob questions about (this) midi setup that you can think of... ;) thanks, Eric. PS: this is a video of the KORG Volca Keys with a midi keyboard setup, I'm looking for something similar, but with the KB37 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVTm0mT53fU
