  1. macOS 10.13 and 10.14 has implemented an additional security layer for kernel extension drivers, such as the Line 6 audio drivers. After the Line 6 device is connected, the customer must open the Security Control Pane and accept the Line 6 driver in order for the device to be recognized. Typically, but not always you'll see this message when your driver gets blocked, or is not available for use with your DAW: However, sometimes the driver gets blocked and the message won't appear. Your driver and hardware simply won't work. In either case, you'd need to approve the driver in System Preferences > Security & Privacy: Additional information about this change can be found at https://developer.apple.com/library/content/technotes/tn2459/_index.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/DTS40017658 For some cases if the "Allow" button does not change anything, or the "Allow" button does NOT disappear after clicking. Please try these steps: Go into: System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Select 'All Controls'. Then: Go back to System Preferences > Privacy & Security > Press 'Tab' until 'Allow' is selected > Press 'Spacebar'. Note: the Privacy & Security page may need to be unlocked before 'Tab' will work.

  4. Apple’s policy is that if you acquire an app, free or not, the app should be available to download to any of your personal devices. However, as the app is updated, it's requirements may change and prevent fresh downloads on older devices. Example: If you attempt to download AMPLIFi Remote to an old device, and the minimum iOS version is 11 or above, you’ll get an installation error: "This application requires iOS version 11 or later. You must update to iOS 11 in order to use this application." To get AMPLIFi Remote onto the older device, you'd have to first acquire the app via iTunes on a computer, or via the App Store on a device that is running the required iOS version, then download the app on the older device. Note that iPhone-only apps won't appear on an iPad, and vice versa. For our example, we’ll use iTunes. Use the search box for the name of your application. Select the app in the search results. Click the “Buy” or “Get” button to acquire the app (you don't have to download it). Use your older iOS device and search for the exact app in the App Store or click on the “Purchased” icon in the lower navigation bar. When you locate the app, click the “Install” button. After you click “Install”, you’ll see a popup indicating that there is an older version of the app available for download. Click “Download” to install the last compatible version.

I am running a POD HD500X and the Line 6 Monkey is telling me I have a USB Firmware update from v1.01 to 1.04. Any thoughts?
  9. How to Activate Helix Native Download the latest version of Helix Native at http://line6.com/software/. Run the Helix Native installer. We suggest you temporarily disable all third party antivirus programs during the installation. During the install, take note of the VST3 and AAX Plugin folder locations. If you choose to install the PC VST2 plugin, you will be able to choose your own folder location. On Mac, VST2 is installed at /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/. PC VST2 only: Open your recording program’s preferences and point it to the folder that Helix Native was installed to. Start your DAW, create an audio track, then add Helix Native as a plugin (see below for links to your particular DAW). On first run, you will be prompted to sign in to your Line 6 account to authorize your license. Individual DAW Set-up Articles Pro Tools Cubase Garage Band Reaper Studio One Sonar Logic Pro X Ableton Live Q: I can't find the Helix plug-in, even after following the steps in the articles above. A. Possible causes: The default VST3 folder on Windows is C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\. Ensure your DAW has scanned that directory. Helix Native is a VST Effect. When searching your DAW's plug-ins list, make sure to look under VST Effects and not VST Instruments. Helix Native is 64-bit only, and therefore won’t appear in a 32-bit DAW. Q: What are the default locations for Helix Native plug-in files? This version of Helix Native plug-in installs on a Mac to: AU Plug-in : /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/Helix Native.component VST2 Plug-in : /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/Line 6/Helix Native.vst VST3 Plug-in : /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Line 6/Helix Native.vst3 AAX Plug-in : /Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/Line 6/Helix Native.aaxplugin This version of Helix Native plug-in installs on Windows to: VST3 Plug-in : C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Line 6\Helix Native (x64).vst3 AAX plugin: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins\Line 6\Helix Native.aaxplugi n NOTE: The VST2 plugin installation location, if installed, will be determined by the user during the installation process.

  11. Locating Helix Native in Pro Tools 1. Create a Mono or Stereo Audio Track 2. Open the Mixer Window in Pro Tools (Go to View -> Mix Window), then go to the insert section on the guitar tracks and click Insert A to view the plug-in menu and see if you can find the Helix Native plug-ins via the path: plug-in - Effect -> Helix Native Note: If the plug-in or manufacturer’s name is not listed within the plug-in menu, then the plug-in is not detectable by Pro Tools. If the Helix Native plug-in isn’t in the list, make sure it shows up in the Pro Tools Plug-ins folder using the directions below. If they don’t show up there, try to download and install them again. If it does show up in the plug-ins folder but Pro Tools still doesn’t see it, try trashing Pro Tools preferences. That will force Pro Tools to re-scan all the plug-ins in that folder. For Mac Check the Plug-ins Folder: 1. With the Finder open, click on Go and choose Computer. 2. For Pro Tools 11 or 12 (AAX), locate your plug-in at: Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Avid > Audio > Plug-Ins > Line 6 For Windows Check the Plug-ins Folder: For Pro Tools 11 or 12 (AAX), open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins\Line 6
  12. Hello everyone, New to these forums but not new to the Variax. Have been enjoying the heck out of this JTV69 for the past couple years. Was a gift from my father and quickly became my favorite guitar not just for the tuning and modeling but also because it's butter smooth, great action and sustain and is just easy to play. My question may be considered sacrilegious, impractical, or you may ask why I would want to do this. Well, because killswitch stuff is fun and I love learning to cover Buckethead. :P I am trying to install this Iron Age killswitch in the Variax; I understand that a switch would not work on the VDI output, which is fine as I always play conventionally out of the 1/4 inch output, and would mostly use the killswitch with the modeling off like a regular guitar. This thing however has quite an impressive looking 1/4 in jack containing a pc board with two connectors, one with 5 wires and the other with a single wire which I am assuming is a ground. I feel like I'm attempting to disarm a bomb compared to conventional guitars. Where would you guys install this switch in line with? Or which wires in this connector are what? I am telling myself that despite the complexities of this guitar, all that signal has to funnel down to somewhere on this jack where I can kill all signal with the momentary switch. I am comfortable with soldering and have no worries about the actual installation, but need help with figuring out exactly where in the chain to put this. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Cheers! Brandon
  13. I love my JTV-89F. It's one of the best guitars I ever had. But, IMO, EMG active pickups are the best. I use EMG 81 and 85 and they sound great. So I decided to install those in my Variax JTV-89F. After searching the Internet I could not find any source of reliable information regarding this topic. So I decided to share my experience. I made a video documenting the process. You can find it on Youtube. !!! WARNING !!! If you do this, you'll void your guitar warranty. After installation all the Variax models are working perfectly. Also tuning and custom tuning. Issue #1: The EMG pickups do not allow to split coils and the Variax uses a 5 way switch. While in magnetic pickups mode, position 2 produces the same sound as position 1. And position 4 the same sound as position 5. 1 = Bridge 2 = Bridge 3 = Bridge + Neck 4 = Neck 5 = Neck When you activate the modeling mode, all the positions continue to be independent, as in stock mag pickups. Issue #2: When the active pickups are powered, the volume control acts almost as an on-off switch. At 1/5 of a knob turn you start to hear sound already at almost 80% gain. Bellow 1/5 of a turn, no sound at all. Issue #3: Tone knob seems to produce no noticeable effect. That's it. To me, now I have a perfect guitar. I don't use much the tone knob, and I can control volume with my volume pedal.
  14. I want to connect my korg rack mount tuner to my pod pro hd x without going through the front and having a cable going from inside my rack to the front of the pod pro. The tuner has an input and output 1/4" jack on the back of it. Is there a way to connect the korg tuner to the back of the pod pro x though one of the numerous input/output jacks? and then I can just connect my guitar to the front of the tuner. Thanks for any help on this matter!
  15. NOTE: HD model packs are not compatible with POD Farm 2.5. Only standard model packs can be used with a Line 6 device and/or a computer authorized with POD Farm 2.5 or better. This is a step by step guide on using the Line 6 License Manager to install Model Packs on the POD HD500X and HD Pro X. If you have Line 6 Monkey installed, then you have Line 6 License Manager. There are a few things to check before we get started: Make sure you have the latest version of Line 6 Monkey installed. If you don't you can find it here: http://line6.com/software/ Line 6 License Manager comes in the Line 6 Monkey installer. Before you Begin: Connect your POD via USB, open Line 6 Monkey and make sure the latest drivers are installed. Next, the Flash Memory version on your POD must be version 2.60 or higher: And the firmware must be updated to version 1.04 or higher. Step by Step in Line 6 License Manager: After your POD is updated it's time to run the License Manager. You can access it in the Start Menu on Windows or in C:\Program Files(x86)\Line6\Tools on a Mac it's in the Applications\Line 6 Folder in Finder. When License Manager opens it looks like this: Click the Login Button and type your username and password for Line6.com: Once you are logged in, you will see your computer and the POD: Authorize your computer first: Then highlight the POD: And authorize again: Next, the POD will indicate that there are add-ons that need to be installed: Click the install button to program your model packs on the POD: The POD will tell you to Power Cycle. Unplug the power for 5 seconds and plug it back in. Now you can Check the hardware for your new amp models buy putting your cursor over the amp icon in a patch and using the first knob under the LCD screen to search: Enjoy your new amp models! About Amp Models: Here is a Full list of Amp models in the Fully Loaded Bundle: http://store.line6.com/software/hd-model-packs/hd-fully-loaded-bundle.html You can learn more about individual model packs here: http://store.line6.com/software/hd-model-packs.html Keep in Mind that the new amp models will "allude" to the amp they are modeling like all of our Line 6 models. Only standard model packs can be used with a Line 6 device and/or a computer authorized with POD Farm 2.5 or better.
  16. I have a POD HD500 that i have just recently bought. I have previous experience with this pedal, but have never run into an issue like this one. I will do my best to explain this without getting anyone confused. I have 2 Computers. A custom build and a factory built Dell. The POD HD500 drivers will not properly install on my custom built PC, but install perfectly fine on the factory built Dell. The custom built computer is my primary computer and the one I am wanting to use for recording. This issue is very odd to me because i have previously had a friends HD500 connected to the custom built pc for 3 months and it worked fine. I haven't made any changes to the computer since then. I have tried installing the drivers as administrator, tried every USB port (which all work fine for any other devices). My PC recognizes the POD HD500 in the device manager, but is not recognized in Line 6 Monkey or HD500 Edit. I am at a loss and would appreciate any helpful advice.
  17. how to? is it a problem if you authorize the pod farm on a windows vista, then copy the files into a windows 7 ?
  18. Where is everyone downloading HD500X Edit from? I have searched everywhere, including through all the forums, looking for a link or for someone to have said something. On the downloads page it shows all of the other products and their edit software EXCEPT hd500x. Did they remove it for some reason? Am I blind to something? Everytime I call customer support they say they're in a meeting and call back in an hour. Someone please show me where you are all seemingly easily getting this program. I even downloaded the regular HD500 Edit just in case every 500X owner was using that, but calling it 500X. Anyway, program doesn't recognize my 500X. Thank you for any help, Thanasi

  22. Please go through the following checklist before updating the flash memory of your Variax guitar to ensure the update completes successfully: Ensure that the interface you are using to update the Variax with (Workbench Interface, PODxt Live/Pro, POD X3 Live/Pro, POD HD500/HD Pro, Vetta II) is NOT connected to the computer through a USB hub. Make sure to connect the interface into a USB port directly into the computer, especially into the back of a desktop. If problems persist, make sure to test all of the USB ports on the computer. Avoid plugging into USB ports found on keyboards, monitors, or laptop docks. [*]When using the Workbench Interface to update or edit the Variax guitar, ensure that a charged battery is in the guitar (JTV only) and a 1/4" TS mono cable is inserted into the guitar's output jack, or that the stereo TRS cable is plugged into the Variax providing power from the XPS power supply to power on the guitar. [*]On a James Tyler Variax guitar, ensure that the Volume knob on the guitar is NOT set to the '0' position as it will put the guitar into Power Save Mode. Q: How do I update or re-install the flash memory on my Variax Electric 300, 500, 600, 700 and James Tyler Variax guitars? A: These instruments can only be returned to factory reset by reinstalling the flash memory. You will need to connect your Variax to the workbench software using your Variax enabled hardware (i.e. Variax Hardware interface, POD XT/X3 Live, POD X3 Pro, VETTA with VDI, or POD HD500), then you will have to connect your interface to your computer via USB. Once the guitar and interface are connected to the computer, you will need to run Line 6 Monkey. See the following link for more information on connecting your device to your computer and installing Line 6 Monkey: Line 6 Monkey Installation and F.A.Q. USB Connectivity with Line 6 Devices Once you have Monkey installed and your computer is recognizing the connection, see the screen shots for the reflash procedure: 1) Once you run Line 6 Monkey, Monkey may ask you to register. If you do not wish to register (or have already registered) select "remind me later". 2) If you want to reinstall the factory presets (or update the firmware), select "Flash Memory" the select "Reinstall Latest" 3) Select "OK" to agree to the software license 4) Select "yes" or "no" If you want to keep the patches on the instrument 5) Select "Yes" to continue with the update. Do not disconnect the variax during the update. 6) Line 6 Monkey will reinitialize the device and update the flash memory. You can watch the progress on the blue bar on the right side of Monkey. 7) Once the update is complete you will need to select "OK" to continue. Note: Older v1.71 and v1.82 Models might not be compatible with the v1.90 and v2.00 data block formats. Variax Bass 700/705 Reflash Factory defaults must be restored one at a time. Select the Model you wish to normalize, the place the blend and two tone controls in the detent (center) position. Now press the Model select pot down until the indicator light stops flashing. The Model should now be restored to factory settings. Use this procedure for any model you want to restore to the factory setting. The Variax bass series can also be "reflashed" using the procedure for the Variax electric guitars described above.
