  1. I am fairly new to using any kind of impulse response with my Helix as I usually use a Power Stage 170 and a 2x12, but I have recently been toying with the idea of trying out some impulse responses, as I had received a few "free" ones from a couple YouTube channels, I decided to load them up in my Helix LT, the one I got from Glenn Fricker loaded up fine. the ones I recieved from Ola Englund however did not, when loading them into HX Edit, 3 of them work fine, the rest give me this error message: "HX Edit was unable to import IRs into this set due to the following errors: -2- out of memory condition" I did some searching around and figured out that I am receiving this error because of the size of the IRs, the ones that won't import are all 237kb, while the ones that worked fine are significantly smaller, at 59kb and 6kb. is there anything I can do to make the larger ones work with my helix?
  2. Hey guys, Today I have a “Dimebag” Darrel / Pantera inspired guitar tone. I threw together some fun Pantera riffs to demo the tone. It’s more of a hybrid of Dime’s tone as it evolved through Reinventing the Steel. This was a lot of fun. I used Ownhammer impulses on this one. Their stuff is the best. I used a blend of: OH 412 ENG V30 421-FRED OH 412 ENG V30 421-EDGE FRED for cutting through and the EDGE for the chunk and low end. I used the LINE 6 Fatality model. CHAIN: PRS Tremonti SE loaded with Fishman Fluence Moderns Line 6 Helix Rack using the Line 6 Fatality amp model and Ownhammer Impulses Into the Universal Audio Apollo Twin which feeds Persons Studio One 3 Drums are Toontrack Superior Drummer 3
  3. Hey gang. I get a lot of questions regarding Impulse Responses (IR) Stock cabs, What IRs to use, the cost of IRs etc. so I found a couple good, FREE packs, made a metal tone, tracked a few riffs and walkthrough it all. Hopefully, it helps someone. Have a great Monday!

Marketplace lets you purchase custom Helix presets and impulse responses (IRs) created by select third-party development partners. You can browse by product or developer, listen to audio examples, and even watch demo videos if provided. Checkout is a breeze and you can pay with either credit card or PayPal. Why was Marketplace created? Our primary goal was to develop Helix as an open platform that will serve you for many years to come. We believe that will be best accomplished by supporting a vibrant, thriving community of third-party developers that continually expand the sonic and creative capabilities of Helix, HX, and now POD Go, products. Can anyone become a Marketplace partner? Our goal is to provide you with high-quality products and a great overall experience. For these reasons, we will carefully curate Marketplace and include only partners that we feel meet those expectations. What kinds of products are available on Marketplace? Marketplace offers impulse response files (IRs) and presets. These products will be sold individually and within collections or bundles, for example multiple impulse response files of the same amplifier with different microphones. The exact contents of each product are described on the respective Marketplace shop page. Can I use the Helix Presets in my POD Go? No, POD Go cannot accept Helix or HX presets. How much do Marketplace products cost? Pricing is determined entirely by the third-party developer, and we expect most products will sell for between $5 and $50. Can Marketplace products be returned? Yes. Our standard 15-day return policy applies. Returned Marketplace products will be deactivated once you log out and back in. Will there be free products as well? Some developers may offer free products for promotional purposes. Please check Marketplace listings on a regular basis. Can I still load non-Marketplace presets and IRs? Of course. Marketplace simply provides a convenient way to purchase additional resources and access them at any time. Will Custom Tone be removed? Not to worry. Custom Tone will still be available without changes. Who provides customer support for third-party products? Please contact third-party developers regarding setup and usage of their Helix presets and impulse responses. Third party contact information can be found on corresponding product pages within Marketplace. Contact Line 6 regarding Helix products generally, and questions involving the Marketplace online shop - including billing issues and difficulties downloading or importing presets and IRs. Which Line 6 products work with Marketplace products? Helix Floor, Helix Rack/Control, Helix LT, Helix Native, HX Stomp, HX Effects and POD Go. Do I need a specific firmware and software version to use Marketplace products? Yes. You need these versions (or higher) to support Marketplace: Helix/HX firmware v2.9 HX Edit v2.9 Helix Native v1.9 POD Go firmware version 1.1 POD Go Edit version 1.1 Will you add support for other Line 6 products, y’know, like Powercab? We cannot discuss future development plans at this time. I purchased a Marketplace item and cannot find the software download. Where do I need to look? You can find all your Marketplace downloads on the “Helix Marketplace” page within your Line 6 account. The link to this page is located in the “Hardware & Software” section on the main account page. We also provide a link directly to this page within the “How to Authorize Your Line 6 Product” email that you receive after any Marketplace purchase. Can I use items purchased through Marketplace with non-Line 6 products? All third-party items sold through Marketplace are copy-protected and require HX Edit software, POD Go Edit software or the Helix Native plug-in to work. For this reason, they cannot be used with modeling devices or software from other manufacturers. How does this copy protection method work? Do I need additional hardware or dongles? Products purchased through Marketplace are automatically activated when imported into HX Edit, POD Go Edit or Helix Native. The activation process requires internet connectivity upon first use. The computer that was used for import gets authorized in the process, and no additional hardware or dongles are needed. How many licenses do I get? Can I share these licenses with others? We allow up to four individual computers to be authorized. If you own multiple hardware units, you can update all units without affecting license count. Finally, licenses are tied to your Line 6 user account and cannot be shared with others. Activation requires internet connectivity. How often will I need an internet connection? You will need to have an active internet connection every time you use a newly purchased product. The connection is needed so that our system can validate your license. Once a product was used at least once, the system remembers its state and will allow usage offline without internet access. I discovered that POD Go Edit, HX Edit and Helix Native require Line 6 account log-in. Why is this necessary? You will be asked to log into your Line 6 account if you work with third party products purchased through Marketplace. Log in is only required for the system to install or synchronize licenses, for example when importing third party Helix presets for the first time*. Log in will not be required if you do not use presets or IRs purchased through Marketplace. * On Windows systems, you may need to be online at all times in order to import and export Marketplace presets and IRs. What are the most common uses for IRs? The most common use for an IR that you will see is to replace a Cabinet model with your own third party Cabinet IR. This allows you to use a third-party sound mixed in with your favorite Helix amp tones. The IR in this case will usually include everything about the cabinet model as part of the sound, including: speaker type, mics used, mic placement, room sound. The other way you might see IRs being used is for the purpose of an acoustic simulator, especially modeling the EQ of an acoustic guitar sound. You may see some of these in your preset packs, or offered by third parties as part of a preset bundle. Can I buy dog food, tequila, or 19th-century expressionist paintings via Marketplace? What? No.
  5. I've been pretty st0ked on this amp I purchased for my small practice studio. But occasionally, even with all the great sounds Line 6 Spider V technology has, I am trying to get just a "clean" signal to the driver. I have a set of the standard outboards pedals for sculpting my sound. But none of the 128 presets or any tweaks I have done to them have given me a sound that wasn't "time-smeared" and colored in a negative way. The real tell-tale is when I am using my RC-2 or RC-10r BOSS looper pedals' drum sounds. The snare and especially the cymbals are all resonating in a weird, mushy way that extends the attacks over a couple dozen ms, taking the definition away. It's not just EQ, which I can adjust for "flat" tone. They sound like crap anyway, and it takes some of the enjoyment away from practicing. This is with all the effects off (no chorus/mod, delay, reverb) in the amp, no distortion or overdrive, and using one of the "clean" amp models, with the preamp gain lowered as much as I can and still get output. If I compare it to my other practice amps - a Roland 30x and an old Fender - the clean channel sound is crisp and tight and the BOSS drum sounds (which are EQ'ed to sound fairly flat out of a guitar amp) work very well. Anybody got a clue or a hot tip how to just bypass all the DSP and feed the power stage in the Line 6 Spider V directly? Am I thinking about this in the right way? Thanks for any help, sincerely!! -JD in San Francisco
  6. Hey guys! Put together a "Clutch" type of tone inside of Helix with the Brit P75 Brt Amp Model using Ownhammer Impulse Response Libraries Zilla Fatboy 212. Recording chain is a PRS SE Custom with Seymor Duncans into the Line 6 Helix, throught the Universal Audio Apollo Twin Duo, into Logic Prox X. Drums courtesy of Toontrack Superior Drummer 3
  7. Hello, I was wonderwing if with the HX Stomp i can get 1 signal chain with effects/amp modeling/IR impulse to go to the FOH, and a second signal with just effects/amp modeling to my power amp and cab (so without IR impulse). Thanks in advance!! Greetz Wouter
  8. Hi guys... I am trying to record some songs using an audio interface and that's what I am doing: Interface input A -> Vox AC15C2 mic'd with Shure SM57 Interface input B -> comes from the R (out) from HX effects I would like to use an IR just in the R channel, not in both. In Helix floor and LT I could do it easily but in HX Effects, seems that the L+R outs are mixed. Is there a way to use a IR just for the R channel, insteade both at the same time? Thanks !

  11. Hey Guys! I put together another video highlighting a bass tone inside of Helix. It uses the Del Sol 300 amp block which is modeled after the "Sun Coliseum 300," with eh Obsidian 700 which is a model of the Darkglas B7K. The impulse is a ROSEN DIGITAL AUDIO Ampeg SVT. I tried to zoom on all of the important settings. If you have questions, feel free to leave a comment.
  12. Hey guys, Just wanted to share a walkthrough the tone I used in a recent video. Hope this helps someone! https://youtu.be/OFhFWvt6nzU

  16. Hi. Which output should I use if I'm going to use the poweramp + speaker from two notes CAB? I know I should choose only preamp modeling. Should I choose direct output or stack? I tried going direct/studio but it sounded weak and thin.

    Free IRs

Just got my HX this week and have been going back through my IR stash, auditioning them on the new device. My favorites are the Tonic IRs: I'm particularly fond of the Bogner cabs in this set Taylor CE: If you try these, you might decide that an acoustic sim block isn't such an urgent need Here are some other sets I have. I don't like 'em as much as the Tonic ones but YMMV. Guitar Hack IRs Guitar Cab Impulses Kathallen Cabs Anyone else have IRs they'd like to share?
  18. Has anyone tried the Fat Lazy Cabs pack on the Helix? Demos sound pretty good. http://fatlazycabs.b...t/fat-lazy-cabs I'm looking for good metal tone and considering: 1. Ownhammer 2. Redwirez 3. Fat Lazy cabs 4. Rosen Digital 5. 3 Sigma. What do you guys think?
  19. I've been trying those Taylor IRs for some days and they sure add an interesting flavor to what my variaxes can do by themselves, so I was wondering, does anybody have nylon/classical guitar impulse response files?
  20. Had Helix a while now, but I purchased it right after 1.06.5 came out. Back then I received the unit, then updated the firmware, THEN started playing. I have the patience of a saint, lol. The problem is that back then I didn't have to worry about backing anything up, UNTIL NOW, and I'm terrified that I'm going to do something wrong and lose all my hard work. Today I did "export bundle" to a folder on my computer, then downloaded and installed all the newest software from Line 6 (1.10 firmware, 1.10 application, 1.78 driver (bug fix for Windows 7), 1.08 updater, and 1.11 application) per the instructions. I then did the "hold down footsitches 5&6 at power-on" thing, which evidently doesn't affect your current patches, setlists, or IR's. What does this procedure (the 5&6 footswitch thing) even do? After that, I (stupidly) proceeded to work on some patches for ergonomic reason (basically just moving some footswitches around and relabeling a few) and also reset my global eq to my liking. I assume at this point that the changes I just made were for nothing if I do the "hold down footswithes 7&8 at power-on" thing, in order to get the new factory presets that I don't have yet. Losing my most recent changes is not a huge deal, since I can easily redo them in a few minutes, but I'm terrified of not importing my bundle correctly. What is the procedure for this? Was export bundle even the right thing to do? How do you backup IR's? I did overwrite an existing bundle from when I first got the unit, cause I hadn't really created anything yet and was just curious as to what would happen, what the file name would be, etc., so I think I'm ok there. I just don't want to lose my patches that I have been tweaking for the past couple of months. Hope this all makes sense, and I'm so sorry to burden you tech-savvy gents with my meatheadedness. HELP!!!!
  21. What it sounds like? Worth the money?
