  1. After updating to 2.80, I changed the global settings for footswitches back to the 8 snapshot mode I previously had. However, now when I navigate between the snapshots using the footswitches, the LEDs don't show me which snapshot I am on (nor does any of the signal chain update on screen). It does switch between the snapshots though, as I can obviously hear the difference - but it does effectively mean I can only view one snapshot, so if I want to make changes to any of the others I have to guess what settings I am using. Has anybody come across something similar? Any idea how to fix it?
  2. Hello, After I add IR's to the list in Helix Edit, my Helix LT (about 1 month old) will only let me select the IR in slot 1. It does not matter which IR I put in that slot, I can only select that one with the physical LT. However within Helix Edit I can select a different IR and assign it to the preset just fine and it shows on the LT. But if I get on the LT and turn the knob to select a different one, the original one disappears. Some things I've tried: 1. Helix Edit: Drag and Drop the IR's, and have also tried "Import" 2. Swapped around the order of the IR's in Helix Edit 3. Deleted the IR block on the LT and added it back in 4. Confirmed that I am running v2.82 on both Helix Edit and the LT 5. Running Windows 10 I've attached screenshots of the Helix Edit screens. ~Pic1 shows the list of IR's in Edit ~Pic2 shows the IR selection in the preset in Edit ~Pic3 shows the dropdown in the preset that displays the list of available IR's in Edit, but they do not show up in the LT Any ideas on how to remedy this? Thanks! Chris
  3. Hey all, currently trying to figure out a problem I'm having with getting my computer to recognize my guitar signal through my Helix LT. My usual set-up is using the 4CM into a Supro Blues King 12 amp and I absolutely love it. The Supro acts as a clean pedal platform amp, and the Helix LT gives me all the effects I could ever want, and helps me achieve my default tone with a compressor, noise gate, EQ and such. I usually play along to music on Spotify or YT, through 2 Presonus Eris E5 monitors & Temblor T10 subwoofer -> Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (3rd Gen) hooked up via USB to my computer. I live in a house so I don't really have to worry about cranking the volume of my amp and speakers. However, I work odd hours (4am-12pm) and sometimes I'd like to play along with music at times where neighbors are asleep and I don't want to bother them. Basically, I'd like to be able to hear my finished guitar signal from my Helix LT as well as the audio from my computer while headphones are plugged in. In addition, I want to start recording guitar parts using the Helix LT, and I'd like to record directly into Ableton Live using the Helix LT. I figured that I'd be able to plug headphones into my Focusrite to hear the audio from my computer and somehow be able to have my finished guitar signal also loaded up on my computer, whether it be through USB with my Helix LT, or through the Helix Native plug-in. I have the HX Edit software installed on my computer, and using the USB cable, I have the Helix LT directly connected to my computer. So there is no issue with recognizing the Helix LT, as I am able to edit in real time with the HX Edit software. I also have the Helix Native plug-in, which I have been attempting to figure out within Ableton Live. I should mention I'm brand new to Ableton so figuring all this stuff out has been felt a bit overwhelming to say the least. The only way I can hear my guitar signal is to hear the dry signal when plugged directly into my Focusrite, this is less than ideal because it's just my dry signal without any compression or EQ, the same as if I was plugged directly into my amp. I guess I might just be struggling to understand at a basic level on how to play my guitar through the Helix LT into my computer.
  4. So, I picked up an LT about a year go, and I love it. It honestly fulfills pretty much everything that I want, and the extra 5 or 600 bucks for the Floor is not something that I could justify. The only thing the Floor has that I wish the LT had in all honesty is the Mic input. (the scribble scripts, the extra fx loops, and all that other stuff are kind of irrelevant to me). SO, To fix that lack, I have purchased myself a small 5 "channel" Behringer mixer that I'm going to run into the input of the Helix and then run the guitar into one of the FX loop returns (or maybe the other way around) to give myself the ability to have a mic input for the LT. The mixer was like 50 bucks.

    Helix vs Helix LT

Hello all, This questions would have been raised I presume many times and I have looked through all the internet. I have watched youtube videos and so on but I can't make up my mind. I currently play guitar, bass (active bass mostly) and various other instruments. However, one thing stops me, the price... in Euros 400€ difference for just a "few things" they say. But I read a lot, the pedal is better, the scribble strips is amazing and the amount of various type of inputs/outputs is over amazing. I want to know, should I pay 400 more "just" for that or is it going to be an utter waste of money? Please ask me questions if you want. I'll be happy to answer if that means you can guide me more to my purchase. I play with Fender Strats, and Teles. I have also few basses but my main one is an active Ibanez Thank you! A Helix dreamer from France
  6. Couple quick questions on controller assignment. I understand how to assign multiple blocks to one controller and cycle through them. However, let’s say I want to use one controller to cycle from a phase block, to flange and then a 3rd press to bypass both completely? How would this be done? Second question. When toggling /cycling through the block assignments on any given controller, the name of the block doesn’t change. Is there a way for the name to change to whatever block it switches to?
  7. Hello there, I`ve had my share of Line6 products in the past (Pod 2.0 / X3Live / HD500) and I have also been away from this brand for a couple years now. I remember that I lost my patience with the usb issues on the X3 + Hd500, however, Helix has caught my attention a while ago. I was wondering if there is any known usb malfunction on the Healix Lt? I noticed that a couple people (not as many as when I had the x3 thats for sure) referred usb issues on a few forums (usb being disconnected from the computer + noise when having the usb cable on). I want to get one so bad, but at the same time...I am so afraid of going back to the same headache as in the past... Don't take it wrong but...should I stay away? Thanks, RR
  8. Hi! So, I have been seriously considering buying Helix LT from Thomann, since its under 900€ there. How ever, I have never used these amp modeling units before, and my understanding of them is pretty limited. So, my question is: How would I setup the Helix LT to be able to use headphones, and play along with Spotify tracks on my PC? Just to be super clear, i want to hear BOTH Helix and Spotify from my headphones at the same time (duh) I do have a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 2nd gen audio interface which I plug my headphones into when normally using my PC. So would I need to connect the Helix to the Focusrite? If so, should I connect it to the microphone, or instrument slot? Or will it be enough to just connect the Helix to my PC with the USB cable, and then plug headphones into the Helix? I live in an apartment, so being able to use headphones and play along to music that way is a "must have" feature for me. I have been using amp sim softwares like Bias Amp before, and with those I have just plugged my guitar into my pedalboard, and the pedalboard into my Focusrite interface and that's it. Thank you so much for your help! I am really looking forward to getting the Helix if what I described is possible with it.
  9. Hi - I've been using the Helix LT live for about 9 months now, but I've barely scratched the surface of it, so pardon me if these are dumb questions. I'm thinking of adding a synth pedal (EHX Synth9 or Boss SY-1) to emulate some keyboard parts (I've been playing some keyboards on stage, but I'm giving that up). If any of you have tried this setup, how do you rig the pedal with your Helix so that you can have synth only, guitar only, and guitar + synth (with the synth not mixed into the guitar signal but as its own separate signal)? Some of these synth pedals seem quite amazing, and might help me avoide lugging around the 58 pound Alesis QS 8.1 I've been using on about 12 songs per night. Thanks in advance and cheers! J.C.
  10. I am fairly new to using any kind of impulse response with my Helix as I usually use a Power Stage 170 and a 2x12, but I have recently been toying with the idea of trying out some impulse responses, as I had received a few "free" ones from a couple YouTube channels, I decided to load them up in my Helix LT, the one I got from Glenn Fricker loaded up fine. the ones I recieved from Ola Englund however did not, when loading them into HX Edit, 3 of them work fine, the rest give me this error message: "HX Edit was unable to import IRs into this set due to the following errors: -2- out of memory condition" I did some searching around and figured out that I am receiving this error because of the size of the IRs, the ones that won't import are all 237kb, while the ones that worked fine are significantly smaller, at 59kb and 6kb. is there anything I can do to make the larger ones work with my helix?
  11. Hey all, Yesterday I reinstalled all my music software on a new PC and discovered something interesting.. By accident, I had only enabled output 1 and output 2 while setting up the Helix ASIO driver in reaper for my Helix LT floorboard. I was recording guitar, using headphones and hardware monitoring and by accident enabled record monitoring in reaper as well. This made my tones HUGE and brought an almost stereo-like width to my patches. After jamming out for some time.. I realised my mistake and enabled outputs 1 to output 8 like usually recommended, which in turn, made combined hardware monitoring and record monitoring sound lollipope again. I have tried studying the Helix LT bible (manual), but I am not sure i completely understand what is going on here. I hope someone with a bit more technical knowledge can help me out? :-) Cheers
  12. I have recently purchased Helix Native in its 1.82 version and upgraded my Helix LT to 2.82. I was hoping to control Helix Native directly from my Helix LT, (switch Helix native presets from footswitches, use EXP pedal....) but i did not find any indication that this feature was existing. Can somebody tell me if this is possible ? or will it be possible soon ?
  13. Hello All - Writing to get some expertise on an issue I'm having with the 6 button looper on the Helix (LT if it matters)... The issue is simple, and I hope there's a simple answer but I can't for the life of me figure out what happened. When engaging the six button looper that has been assigned to one of the stomp switches the looper interface used to come onto the screen and show me which foot switches were assigned to effects/rec/stop ect. But this is no longer the case... NOW when I hit the looper the foot switches will light up - like they should, showing the looper is armed, and it does work - but the screen remains on the signal chain view, and I get confused... What did I do? How do I get the looper interface to come back onto the screen!?
  14. Hey, guys I just updated my Helix LT from 2.60 to 2.82 and saw in the instructions that in order to get the new presents from 2.80(?) I need to restore my Helix presets and then restore my backup (yes I made one) to get my custom presets back. My question is are the "new" presets worth the hassle? I never used any of the original presets and just immediately started crafting my own and downloading user-made presents since day one. But curiosity has me wondering if there is anything amazing in the newer presets I could be missing out on. What are your thoughts?
  15. Hello all, I know this topic has probably been covered, but I couldn't find all the answers I was looking for. First, I am strictly an at home hobbyist with no gigging aspirations in the near or distant future yet. I have not been playing guitar very long, but I was looking to upgrade my amp and stumbled upon the helix route. It intrigues me because I feel I can get more tones at lower volumes than a tube amp. Also, I like to play a lot of different styles (John Mayer all the way to high gain stuff Killswitch, Tool ect), so the amp/cab simulation might be a better route than having multiple amps and pedals. So I have a couple questions. 1. Stomp, LT, or Floor? Is the Stomp too limiting with 6 blocks? Will I be looking to upgrade to a bigger model in a year as my effects and playing knowledge increases, or is it perfect for my situation? For a regular Joe schmo, is the floor worth the extra money over the LT? (I am in no rush to buy right away, I want to do my research, and will save the money to buy what's best for my situation.) Also, any disadvantages to buying used when it comes to software/registering the unit? 2. For my situation, do I get studio monitors or a FRFR PA like the headrush units. I want to be able to play/ practice without having to wear headphones all of the time. What would sound best for all genres at moderate volumes? Any brands or suggestions (Moderately priced) 3. What's the deal with a headphone amp? Saw someone say the LT does not have a headphone amp and that they would need a separate one. Do I need one to use headphones in my scenario? 4. Last one, a lot of people say you will not get the "amp in the room sound" and will sound like a amp micced up through a PA. What exactly does that mean. For me, the new inexperienced player, will I even be able decipher the difference because my ear isn't trained? I've never micced the amp I have now. I know to some, these questions may seem elementary, but I'm ignorant in the multi effects realm and still green in the amp/pedal/gear world. I was just looking to avoid playing the tone chasing GAS game if the Helix can cover a lot of the ground. I also know a lot of people will tell me that I have to try them. I respect that, but I want your guys advice because I am so Uneducated in the area of multieffects, I'm not even sure I could make that decision solely off 30 minutes to an hour of noodling around with a unit in a store. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
  16. Last week the exp pedal on my LT started getting tighter and tighter, and today it just stopped working. The pedal is still tight, and although it goes up and down it just stopped working (the click to swap between exp 1 and 2 is still fine). The pedal being tight shouldn't be much of an issue, probably fixable if i loosen up the screw on the side, but I think this looks like a problem with the optical sensor of the exp pedal. As far as I know we don't have any official line 6 customer service here in Spain and I bought it used, so no warranty whatsoever. Trying to come up with some DIY solutions, so I would love to hear your feedback Cheers!

Does helix lt work on 240v?
  18. Does anybody know what the maximum time for the looper in the helix units is? How long can I record a riff before the capacity of the looper is reached. On the Spider IV for example it was only 60 sec.. I hope line6 hasn't saved the couple of cents this time and invested in the length of the looping. It is an important feature.
  19. Don't worry, this isn't me asking if I can use it as an interface. I know I can and it's better than the 200$ focusrite or presonus I can afford (it was like 1300$ for helix and headrush frfr 108). I was wondering what else I need to use it as an interface. I have a razer laptop with an i7 and gtx 1070 and klipsch pro media 2.1 thx but I was wondering if I should invest in studio monitors and what else would be a good investment for my rig and studio.
  20. Hi guys, I have recently buy a Helix LT, It sounds great so far and I love it, I have used Line 6 since more than 10 years ago, my first pedal board was the XT Live and then I got the HD500X, those were great as well, I had no problem with them but it seems like the helix is a little bit more complicated in terms of software, my LT has the 2.71 firmware, I download the editor and the latest driver I could find here, I installed everything with the Helix unplugged, I can see the helix as part of my external devices but when I try to use the editor I'm getting a message saying "no device connected", happened the same thing with the Line 6 updater, the screen is all black as if no device was connected. Am I missing something?, Do I need to do or install something else?. Thanks in advance.
  21. Hi, fellow Helixoids! I've just released 13 new Helix sound sets, available at the Helix Marketplace. I've taken an unusual approach: While we all know that Helix is great at mimicking classic analog gear, I've been exploring Helix as the unique and powerful instrument it is, with an emphasis on startling new tones that could only have been created in Helix. I think these sounds will appeal to restlessly creative players in search of new tones and textures. (Admittedly, they're probably not suitable for REO Speedwagon cover bands.) Each board sell for $13 and has its own demo video at the above link. There's also a combo back offering all 13 sets at a 40% discount. Its demo video, which provides a taste of all 13 products, is a good starting point if you're curious. Thanks for listening! :)
  22. So I’m in a dilemma that I’m hoping someone can help me out with. I play in 2 metal bands that practice at separate rehearsal studios and I am looking for a second rig for the other studio so I was looking into getting the hx stomp or the helix lt but can’t decide which one would be a better fit. Since I play metal I don’t use a ton of effects but maybe if I had more options I would use them more. I mostly just use a high gain profile on my kemper, a clean profile and a lo-fi profile but to be honest the kemper Is not known for its effects so I was thinking the hx stomp might be cool to use as a second rig at the other studio and since it’s so portable I could use it with the kemper as well. The only issue is that since I use real cabinets I use power amps because my kemper is not powered and neither is the hx stomp but the hx stomp doesn’t have an xlr output to plug into my power amp however the helix lt does. Is there anyway hook the hx stomp up to my power amp without using an xlr? Would a 1/4 jack to xlr work? what I’m really getting down to is which one would you guys suggest for my situation the helix lt or the hx stomp? Would the hx stomp be a good stand alone rig if I can run it through a power amp or would it just be better to get the helix lt? Sorry for the long post. I wanted to try and be as specific as possible. Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks!
  23. Hello, Quick backstory: Had a tube amp - EVH 5150 III with a 212 Hesu cab and a pretty nice pedalboard. Sold it because I don't want to do bands and gigs for a while - I rather focus on my music, alone. So the tube amp had to go. I was either going to buy a Kemper or the Fractal, because "Line 6 can't do metal well", according to some folks on the internet, but something told me to hear it for myself. I ended up buying a Helix. I did a LOT of research before buying it though - I saw presets being made, IRs being loaded, how to mess with global settings. In less than an hour after I unpacked it I created a great modern 7 string tone (Had to use external IRs - ML Sound Lab MEGA oversize pack). It rips. This goes out to everybody who's looking for a modern-proggy-and-quiety solution. Buy the Helix. Oh, and I just want to mention that I was VERY dissapointed with it for the first 10 minutes. I was like "Did I just buy a POD FARM 2.5?". Turned out High a low cuts at IR blocks are the key. I started with 80 Hz for lows and 14k for high with my 7 string. What cut ranges do you guys recommend? I have just one question. Now i don't plan on using it anytime soon, but how the hell do I "unblock" the expression pedal? It's still, stiff. Can't move it at all. I found some kind of allen wrench. How do I proceed? Thank you! Chris
  24. So...I updated my HX Edit and my Helix LT to 2.80, and everything was good. Then I updated the HX Edit to 2.81. When I attempted to update my Helix LT to 2.81, the HX Edit showed me a "No Connection" error. The same error occurred with the Line 6 Updater. Really weird. I've since uninstalled and reinstalled both the Line 6 Updater and HX Edit, but I'm still experiencing the "No Correction" error. Any insights? I've googled it, but no answers. I also have a Tech Support ticket in with Line 6, but I won't hear back from them until probably Tuesday. Thanks everybody...
  25. Hello Helix-Users First, I have to apologize for my poor English. Since april 2018 I use a helix LT with a powercab 112 plus (midi cable connected). I‘m very happy with it. BUT: last weekend i upgrade the helix lt and powercab firmwares (helix lt => 2.81 and powercab => 2.00.1). After the upgrade, the powercab doesn‘t change the right powercab-speaker over midi. I doesn‘t find out what the problem is! I do the follow steps to find the problem: 1) reset powercab 112 plus to factory defaults 2) reset helix lt to factory defaults (press FS7 and FS8 and then turn on the Helix lt) 3) OK, then I activate Preset 1A, then switched the powercab to channel 000 I active Preset 1B, then the powercab switched to channel 001 1C => channel 002 1D => channel 003 2A => channel 004 [...] 32D => channel 127 you see, every Helix Preset ist already connected with a powercab speaker preset. 4) I created a simple Marschall-Amp Preset (1A) on the Helix. In „commands“ I made a midi command to change the powercab-preset to 017 (Greenback). 5) then I activate the Preset 1A. Helix load the Marshall Amp and send a midi comand to the powercab. The powercab switched first in the 000 channel and after automatic in the 017 channel. Why change the powercab first in the FRFR channel (000) and then in the 017 greenback channel (changing time used, <1 second). 6) I create other Presets in the Presets 1D and 32D. In these channel the powercab change first in the channel 004 (Preset 1D) and after in the 017. In Preset 32D the powercab change first in the channel (127) and after in the 017. In some Presets I must press two times the footswitch-knob. First time the powercab load the „standard“ Speaker (look point 3) ). Second time the powercab changed to the programmed channel (ex. 017) I tested these also without USB connections with my Macbook. I disconnect also the XLR soundcable (Helix LT -> Powercab), only the midi connection between Helix and powercab. The problem remains the same. Why the powercab change two times? In Firmware 2.71 I had never problems with it. the midi commands works fine. How I must configurate the Helix LT, the Presetchange works fine? Any ideas? Thank you! Greetings from Switzerland Pady
