  1. Hi all, I've seen some discussion on this, but nothing so far that has been able to help me figure this out. I just downloaded HX Edit and bought the OwnHammer 412 Rect IR pack. I'm pretty sure I have everything updated and am signed in, but keep getting the following error message when I try to import them: HX Edit was unable to import IRs in this set due to following errors: -8209 - Service does not support the requested function. Any ideas? I have the Line 6 Updater, although it doesn't show any devices that I can update. It currently shows that I'm running Helix LT 2.30 and HX Edit 2.71. Thanks in advance for the help!
  2. Now online!: https://gum.co/HelixMidiController This is a premium MIDI template made for the Line 6 Helix devices. Hardware and software requirements: - Line 6 Helix (Floor, Rack, LT) - Apple iPad - MIDI Interface (Wireless: Yamaha MD-BT01. Wired: Roland UM-ONE MKII + Apple CCK USB3 read here for some suggestions) - MIDI Designer PRO 2 (IOS app, sold separately) Early notes: V1.0 is online!! PDF manual coming soon. Lifetime support, future updates will be free for existing costumers. A bit of tech stuff: The operation of this MIDI template is based on the current MIDI implementation available on Line 6 Helix devices. This means that the limits of what or how can be controlled are determined by the manufacturer (to a large extent). The practical translation of this fact is that: There are some functions in the Helix that are not controllable, simply because there is no continuous controller (CC) assigned to whatever. There are some things in the Helix that receive MIDI but they do not send it. A clear example are the footswitches (FS). For this reason, it is not possible to show a synchronized status (on/off) on the controller's screen. For this type of controls, it will only be possible to send a status change message, so the buttons will be of a momentary type. Helix does not send the names of presets or setlists via MIDI -something that would normally use SYSEX messages or the Line 6's own protocol (but we will be able to write and store those names on the controller anyway). Description: 1-Main Screen. From this screen you can control the main functions of your Helix. Some elements receives the MIDI information that your Helix sends and display it on the screen, such as bank and program changes. Others are used to send commands to activate and deactivate elements such as footswitches. A few elements are bi-directional, such as looper controls (for the most part). As you already know, the Helix does not send us setlists names. However, you will be able to rename your Setlists on the controller easily from this screen, simply by pressing the "Setlist" button to write names coincident with those of your Helix. 2-Setlist Screen The main function of this screen is to navigate comfortably between the eight banks of your Helix, but we can also select a preset in each of the 8 banks, and toggle between them at the touch of a button. There are also controls that receive information from your Helix, like those two large screens of Setlist and Preset. The most important looper controls are also present here. For advanced users: the setlist names are also editable! So you can manually write the patches names on your controller to match your Helix. 3- Preset Screen On this screen, the idea is to have quick and immediate access to all the Presets (and Setlists) of your Helix. Snapshot selection controls are also present, as well as the looper, tap tempo and tuner buttons. 4- Favourites Screen Easy access to your 48 favorites, just pushing labeled buttons. A good way to sort your most used presets, regardless of where the hell(ix) they are found. If you need more buttons, you can even duplicate this screen to double the amount available!
  3. I have a setup where the Helix LT controls a Beatbuddy (drummachine) and a Boomrang looper through midi. When I change presets on the Helix the Beatbuddy automatically changes to the right song. It works really well, until today. I would like to be able to change guitars during a song. Playing the acoustic while singing, and then change to the electric for a solo. The problem is that when I change preset during a song, the Helix sends out a midi command that changes the drum beat on the Beatbuddy. I have removed all midi messages from command center. When I change to an empty preset I have the same problem. So my question is this. How do I make sure that the Helix does not send any midi messages, when I change presets?

    Artist Created Patches

Hi I am pulling the plug on a Helix LT. Can't wait. I currently am using a Boss GT100. What I like about BossToneCentral is that there are professional patches that are made by world-renowned guitarists. Is that the case for Helix Patches. I know it comes with some standard patches but I have only seen patches from users, which is great but I would like some standards if possible. David Gilmour patches. 50's guitar sounds etc. Can someone enlighten me on the sounds that come with the Helix or downloadable from world-renowned guitarists? Thanks

    Helix VS Helix LT

Hi, I haven't owned a Line 6 Product for a long time, It was a Guitar pod. I currently own a Boss GT100 Multi Effects board. I'm not too happy with it it's very muddy. I have heard great things about the Helix but the price, Yikes! So what are the major difference between the Helix and Helix LT? Are there ever any sales on these items. Thanks in advance.

Help me create sound for my songs - live

Hello Hello; Okay; I wrote music for my 1st album; the guitar sounds were dialled in by a producer in a studio. the album is finished. I m trying to recreate the sound with the helix lt for my I've setup. I spend some time with the helix; i love it; but i don t get it to sound right. I m posting 2 small sound files of the rhythm guitar sound, which i want to recreate; it s basically verse and chorus. The guitar tuning is weird. E , A and D strings (the deep ones) are tuned down 3 half steps - the chords are then all standard power chords played on these 3 strings starting on the 8 th fret and descending down. If anyone wants to give it a try, i d be super thankful. Hope this fits in this forum here. Thaaaaank you so much guitar_chorus_1.mp3 (the rhythm part, not the strumed chords) guitar_verse_1.mp3

    "No Device Connected"

Hi guys, I have recently buy a Helix LT, It sounds great so far and I love it, I have used Line 6 since more than 10 years ago, my first pedal board was the XT Live and then I got the HD500X, those were great as well, I had no problem with them but it seems like the helix is a little bit more complicated in terms of software, my LT has the 2.71 firmware, I download the editor and the latest driver I could find here, I installed everything with the Helix unplugged, I can see the helix as part of my external devices but when I try to use the editor I'm getting a message saying "no device connected", happened the same thing with the Line 6 updater, the screen is all black as if no device was connected. Am I missing something?, Do I need to do or install something else?. Thanks in advance.

Helix (LT) getting along with amps

Hi! Maybe you can help me with your expertise: I own a Helix LT and I wanted an amp so i could connect it via 4CM plus be able to control the switch channel through the Helix, easy right? First I had a Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister 36 but I never succeed in hooking them via MIDI (so I could take full advantage of the 3 channels and the power section) So i decided to sell it and buy another one with only 2 channels and a regular (TS cable) amp control Jack; I bought the PRS MT15 (great amp!) but meanwhile i was using it with the foot switch that came with the amp there was no problem (meaning no HUM) but if I tried to use the Helix LT to change the channel of the amp...HUM appears (a huge HUM by the way). Yes I tried the Hum Eliminator and all the programing was right and nothing work for me so...once again I decided to change the amp. I did research and the Orange Rocker 32 and Helix Lt can work perfectly...and they do! The amp its great and covers a lot of ground but somehow (and I know I need to break it first) The amp doesn't delivers the right amount of gain that I would like (I'm aware that its not a Hi Gain amp) I like to play TOOL from time to time (thats the top gain that I need) and this one fights to get close to that. So my question is: Do you know for certain which amps gets along with the Helix LT? I know the Tubemeister 18 and 20 deluxe can switch the amp channel through the Helix (maybe with a TRS cable?) with no Hum and that's how far my knowledge gets..I truly appreciate your comments!

    Phantom power Helix LT

Hello Forum members, I've recently bought a Helix LT and very happy with it so far. The way I use it (for now) is that in live situations (rehearsal, we don't gig yet) I have patches set up with two signal paths. The effects only go to the 1/4" out which feed into the the front of the tube-amp we have in our rehearsal room. At home I don't have an external amp, so the effects + amp + cab simulation go to the XLR and I play using headphones. Maybe not ideal, but it does the job and allows me to set up patches quickly. But what I want to do next is to feed the XLR to the mixing desk in the rehearsal room so as to have both the amp as well as a signal for mixing. This mixing desk may have phantom power turned on (although usually off) and as multiple bands use the same rehearsal room I don't want to risk feeding phantom power to my Helix. I have browsed through the forums and found a lot of valuable information; an often used method is to go from the 1/4" to a DI box. But what I want to do is to use the XLR out (at mic level) and feed that to the mixing desk. I have purchased an "ART DTI" transformer/ isolator as I found some people recommending that device. My understanding is that compared to a DI box it leaves the signal level intact (i.e. MIC in = MIC out). Other than that it works pretty much the same as a DI box (but I do not know that for sure..... I don't know too much about electronics) All this said, I am confused about the following and hope someone could give me a clear answer on this: 1) Does this ART DTI indeed prevent the phantom power from going to the XLR outputs of the Helix? 2) I noted that when turning phantom power on there is a " plop" in the signal (I did some experimenting at home using my Focusrite soundcard; my headphones were connected to the soundcard). If I disconnect the Helix but leave the ART DTI still connected this "plop" is hardly noticeable. Does this still mean that even when the DTI is connected some signal is being sent to the Helix? 3) What actually happens when the Helix is exposed to phantom power? Will the electronics be damaged? I know that Line 6 clearly states not to use phantom power, but it is unclear at least what might actually happen, i.e. what the risk is. 4) What is actually the difference between dedicated " phantom power blockers" and the ART DTI isolator/transformer. Please don't suggest me to do things differently. I'm quite aware of what the Helix can do in terms of routing and indeed there may better ways to do what I want to achieve. I'm just trying to understand how this phantom power issue works and whether the additional product I bought actually protects me or not. Thanks a lot !!!
  10. Hey Guys! Total newb here but despite some time spent searching the forums I have not found a solid answer to this question; First my set up; I am running a 2013 Imac with El Capitan 10.11.6 My Helix is connected to the USB and is set as the default input and output device for the mac. I have set the latency to 444100 because in Audio Midi Set Up each time I try to set it higher than that it rolls back. I'm really not sure what the issue is there. I'd like to address that issue if possible. My Event PR5 Monitors are connected to the 1/4" outputs on the LT. I can listen to any video or audio on the PC through the monitors just fine and I can also use the monitors to hear my guitar signal so when I practice in the room everything is ok. I created a second path and used an effects return to add a mic so I can chat with friends while they watch the stream. The problem that I have is that the Helix is not capturing the audio from the youtube tracks or even from Garage band while streaming. Can anyone tell me how to accomplish this? To be clear, I don't want to have to use a DAW for this. I'd like to be able to improvise over a track during either facebook live or youtube live. Preferably both. I suppose the alternate would be to buy another external sound card with more inputs so I could run 1/4" or XLR out to that soundcard and use it as the main source but again I am not too sure. I did get that to work with a Presonus Audio Box 22VSL but that only has two inputs and I would prefer not to run the guitar in mono or buy another sound card for that matter. Should have gone full Helix instead of LT I suppose lol. Anyhow any help would be greatly appreciated.

    USB Audio question

I have a Helix LT. I would like to jam and play to tracks from Spotify and alike. I figured that I could just play tracks from my PC through the USB cable into the Helix and then I could use headphones to hear both the audio streamed from my PC and my guitar at the same time. The guitar sounds fine, but the streamed audio from my PC sounds terrible. Any ideas on how I can practice to tracks from my PC through headphones using the Helix too without the distorted streamed audio?
  12. Working through issues with my brand-new Helix LT, so far Line 6 Customer Support has been quick to engage and support: Initially the Helix LT was unable to connect to either Helix Editor or Line 6 Updater applications - first with a MacBook Pro laptop running MacOS El Capitan. Switching to an iMac running MacOS Sierra, I was able to successfully update the Helix LT to firmware version 2.21.0. I subsequently updated the operating system on the MacBook Pro laptop to Mac OS Sierrra. Now the Helix LT will temporarily connect to the computers with Helix Editor software, then dis-connect with a yellow-bar error message stating "Service is not online." Subsequent attempts to connect are unsuccessful, sometimes with an error message stating "Cannot connect to device." Both computers, two USB cables supplied with Line 6 hardware, all available USB ports on the computers... same dealio. Not working!! My original Helix Floor unit connects successfully to both computers - with both of the USB cables I have - and there appear to be no issues with navigating the setlists, presets, etc. Exporting the files to the local storage disks also works OK. NO CONNECTIVITY ISSUES WITH THE ORIGINAL HELIX FLOOR. Curious to see if other early adopters of the newly-released Helix LT are experiencing similar problems with USB connections and Helix Editor + Line 6 Updater applications. Possibly this is more specific to Apple/Mac devices & not Windows/PC devices?? Thanks for any helpful input, KWH

    Helix LT vs Ax8

Greetings! Life at it's current junction seems to be pointing towards going to a digital all-in-one box. The Helix LT and Ax8 are in my price range (the full helix is out, sadly) and the two contenders for purchase. I'm not in a position to buy both and keep the one I like. I've tried an LT and it was quite fun for the 20 minutes I had with it, though I didn't get too much into exploring the options and tweaking and what not. I've never tried and Ax8 or any fractal gear. So why am I bringing this up? While it's subjective, in most of the comparisons I've listened to the Ax8 sounds better to me and I feel somewhat concerned in my mind that if I go with the less expensive LT, I'll end up being disappointed. Part of me wants to get the LT because of simplicity of use and having a expression pedal already there and because I can get it for less than the Ax8 (especially since I may even be able to haggle a retailer down more than $999). Cost is a factor since I have a young family and not a lot of income for now. But again I have concerns of being disappointed. So now's your chance! Reassure me that I'd be just as happy with the LT as the Ax8. If it helps, I like clean/ambient-ish stuff, rock, and metal (but not so much djent). Thank you kindly for your responses!

Issue with my Helix LT Highs

New to the Helix. So here's my current setup: Ibanez RG655 with a SD JB in bridge > HELIX LT > Alto 312 My only issue with current setup is this, High notes specifically on higher frets lack clarity, brightness and tightness. It's almost as though my Helix is clipping. My rhythm work sounds fine. But anytime I tear into alternate picking three per string type stuff it's almost like something can't process the signal. I should note I play High gain, primarily using the PV panama patch. Tried with the noise gate bypassed. I've tried bypassing the TS808 and LA compressor with little success. I've toggled my global EQ on and off employing a LOW cut of at least 70k and a High cut of 8k. Toggled all parameters of the head. Changed mic on my cabs Turned the volume up on the ALTO so my input signal from Helix is low. I also bought the cheapest mic cable available at GC so I've pondered if that may be it? Please for the love of God, someone help me here.

Helix LT and Fender Hot Rod Deville

I just ordered a Helix LT yesterday and I am very new to modelers. What is the best way to hook up the Helix through a Fender Hot Rod Deville? I don't know much about the 4CM and just wanted the best advice on what to do. Thanks

    Presets and compatibility

Much has been brought out about making the core code for all HX products unified so that future development can be done more efficiently and to the benefit of all product owners releases. My question is: Would we be able to acquire the artist patches made for the HX Stomp for other HX products like Helix and Helix LT. HX Effects would of course have issues due to missing amp cab access. Has anyone tried to move patches between Helix and HX stomp yet?

Noise exist while using Helix LT

Hi everyone, I am a new line6 helix LT user which seeking for a home studio level usage for guitar and computer audio output. Problem 1: create a huge voltage sound while connecting USB from helix LT and scarlett 2i2 (Gen1) both https://line6.com/helix/helix-lt.html https://focusrite.com/usb-audio-interface/scarlett/scarlett-2i2 Problem 2: while playing a jack plug-in guitar, it has two sound come from the monitor(Yahama HS5): normal simulated guitar sound and a noise similar to max volume from small inch amp at the same time https://usa.yamaha.com/products/proaudio/speakers/hs_series/index.html So, here is my basic setting and equipment I already have. Setting 1: *Problem 2 exist Setting 2: *Problem 1 and Problem 2 exist of course, the setting 2 is the most suitable way for my preference, but problem 2 is the most I want to solve it cause an intrusive noise while I am playing Please let me know if there are any reason or solution i can duel with. Thank you so much for the help.
  18. A lot of trial and error with this new Helix LT I just got and am really enjoying it. Would like to play live with it eventually but don't want to get tripped up by the hardware as I am now. Thought I'd try some of the customtones and in particular something for playing RHCP under the bridge. Low and behold I found the RHCP Frusciante custom tone and downloaded. Been playing with it but FS11 is assigned 'Clean It Up', which does drop some of the distortion but unfortunately it also removes me from the STOMP screen and displays the pedal chain. None of the other assigned foot switches does this so I was wondering whats up? Any thoughts? And to be clear I also downloaded other customtones that also had the same effect but on different FS buttons. Thx in advance!

Helix LT with Sennheiser HD 600

Hi all! Short introduction: I own Helix LT and I love it to bits. I am, what you could probably call an average guitar player nowadays. I started playing 3 years ago, so I am relatively inexperienced. I play every day for my own pleasure, mostly blues and funk, and I do not gig. After I got helix I sold my tube amps and pedals (this is another typical thing about me, I think I know more about gear than actual playing the instrument, damn you YouTube!;-) ). Helix takes 10x less space, and my 'studio'/room does not transform into a sauna, as it was while playing tube amps. I play through JBL LSR305 studio monitors, but I have to admit that although the sound is great, it does not feel like playing with an amp in a room. What convinced me to sell all my analog gear, was how good the Helix works with my headphones (Sennheiser HD 600), plugged directly into the Helix. I can play along songs, and backing tracks without any hassle, it sounds great, and I get good warm feeling when I hear myself playing alongside SRV or BB King. Playing through headphones feels really liberating, because I do not have to worry about disturbing my wife and my neighbours, I do not feel self-conscious about my playing, and I practice much more. Now, to the topic. I did not have any problems with setting up my Helix with two JBLs LSR305. For me, it sounds close enough to the tube Marshall and Fender amps that I sold. However, initially I had a lot of problems with setting up Helix with my Sennheiser HD 600 headphones. There was only a single CustomTone patch that worked for me with the headphones, called SRV Sauce. After close examination it turned out that it was because it was set up so that; 50% signal went through a guitar cabinet simulation, and 50% went through a loop that bypasses it. I love a clean blackface sound with a lot of treble, and I used to set up my Fender amp with treble at 8-10 and bass at 1-3. I found that for me; mixing a direct signal from the amp model in Helix, with the signal passing through the cabinet simulation; is the most important setting, that makes playing through Sennheiser HD 600 really natural and amp-like. This is mostly for clean/crunchy sounds (not for high gain), with low output vintage style pickups (both single coils and humbuckers). It sound much more natural, and amp-like, than when I pass 100% signal through the cabinet simulation, which sounds very muddy. My question is: is this because the headphone amplifier inside the Helix and my headphones work as kind of a cabinet? From what I understand Sennheiser HD 600 are not real monitors and they colour the sound. Or is this method more similar to what Nile Rodgers did with plugging straight into a desk? Sorry for the long post.
  20. Hi everybody, hope you can help me. I've been trying to update my Helix LT to the firmware 2.60, but every time I try it says "There is no application set to open the document “Helix_LT_v2_60_0_bundle (8).hxf”." I have already updated to the latest edition of HX Edit and I've tried manually to try and open the document with the HX Edit, but it wont allow it. Any clues to what I should do? (I have a iMac) Kind regards, Simon

    Helix LT pedal problem

Hello, I am thinking of buying the Helix LT but I keep hearing of the pedal breaking. Does anyone know if this issue has been resolved or should I just buy the more expensive Helix floor model?

Helix LT / Native cost sucks

I have an LT why do I have to pay over 300 dollars for Native. Am I the only who's calling BS on this ? Hell I'd do 199 but 299 is stupid. Wtf

    HELIX Loud Hiss Noise

I updated my Helix LT yesterday to 2.6, and after that it's been really noisy. I tried different stock presets and it's the same thing. You can hear in the clip that it only stops momentarily when I play really loud. But other than that it's constantly there, and impossible to live with. I'm sure it's not my guitar, because everything was fine just before updating, and I tried another guitar with no change. I plugged my HD500x into the same outlet and it was completely quiet, which makes me think this is a HELIX issue. It's on all the outputs (headphones, 1/4", USB). Anyone know what is causing this? Helix Noise.mp3
  24. just got helix lt today going direct into mackie mixer into mackie hr824's . initial impressions are very good.the scribble strips are not missed at all. modeling is very good. I thought the definite improvement over past modeling are the distorted amps.clean amps were just ok ( a bit thin[lack of bass],but going direct with global eq at default). effects are decent, but seemed to lack something, in particular, the delays in some way. presets are mostly weak. now, here is my dilemma. I use 2 hybrid tube/solid state amps and a delay pedal and a line6 m5 (used sparingly) and just love the sound. I found I liked the sound much more than helix lt?! what is wrong with me?! this just cant be. but here is the thing, the amps just have this sound I love. I am sure with some editing I can come close with helix maybe. only advantage I can hear is that I can go direct with helix for recording where as with my amps I have to mic them and hear chair creaks coughs etc...but the sound of my amps/effects just are perfect to my ears and blow away the helix for that type of sound. now hi gain /distortion- no doubt the helix is very good. but I don't use distortion as often as I used to, in fact, I still find the pod xt live plenty for me and I don't dislike the sounds I get at all.the distortions in line 6 m5 are just ok ,but pod xt live is much better and helix is better than both.. I love the pod xt live as its just fun to play into 2 solid state amps though i need to add a bit of reverb/delay. globally with outboard effects. just trying to justify $1000 and just not sure I can;helix lt is a great unit, but for me it may not be the answer. perhaps a pod hd500x would be better for me as I do dislike the pod xt live not syncing time based effects to midi clock (I think the 500x does this).I tried the 500x and didn't like it much at the time, but might be enough for me).I just think the helix is overkill.I do like that steve vai hi gain patch though.... conclusion thus far, I am thrilled with my clean amps, delay pedal and m5 setup and even my pod xt live. I found the helix excellent but cant justify 1k for my needs. Well, will try helix into my solid state amps and see if that works better for me

Helix LT USB connection to HX edit only

Is there a way to plug the usb of the Helix LT to the PC so I can use only the HX edit and not as an audio interface? I already run my monitors through a Scarlett interface and want to keep it that way. When I try to use the usb I get a huge amount of echo on everything including youtube videos etc. If I use the Helix into the Scarlett it works great but I have to unplug the usb and loose the HX edit functionallity.
