  1. Hey Guys, I get a lot of question about IR's (impulse responses) and how to use them or how I use them. So today I hit on 3 key topics to help explain a bit about it. We touch briefly on what an IR is, where I prefer to get the ones I use and 1. Loading and Organizing 2. Mixing Mic's / Stacking of IR's and checking phase 3. IR overload (Having TOO MANY options) If you guys have any questions, drop a comment and I will do my best to answer them. Thanks so much for all the support. nickhillmakesmusic@gmail.com https://www.facebook.com/nickhillmakesmusic
  2. Hey guys, Today I have another Helix Tone and playthrough for you. Cirice by Ghost is a great, heavy rock song. I used Ownhammer Impulses all over this thing, from the clean tones to the bass. HEAVY GUITAR: The amp I used was the Line 6 Brit 2204 which is modeled after the Marshall JCM 800. I used Ownhammers OH 412 ENG v30 JS which is a mixed IR by Jon Symons DIRTY INTRO GUITAR: I used the Jazz Rivet 120 model with Ownhammer OH HHC2 SOAP FULL CLEAN INTRO: I used the US DOUBLE Nrm with Ownhammer OH HHC2 THOR FAT BASS: I used the SV Beast Brt with the Ownhammer OH 410 AMPG SVT-10 PORT The drums are from the great guys over at SilentUndergroundStudios and their backing tracks https://www.silentundergroundstudio.com/bt-cirice
  3. Yo! What up Guys?! Today we have a Helix Tone / Playthrough. This is a tone inspired by the End of Heartache off the album of the same name by Killswitch Engage. Chain: PRS Tremonti SE loaded with Fishman Fluence Moderns Line 6 Helix using the Line 6 2204 Mod amp model. IR's are none other than Ownhammer Impulse Response Libraries. It is a blend of: OH412 ENG V30 421-FRED and OH 412 RECTO V70B 57-FRED Into the Universal Audio Apollo Twin which feeds Presonus Studio One 3 all the lovely tones. Drums are courtesy of Toontrack Superior Drummer 3

  6. Available now: The OwnHammer Heavy Hitters Collection Volume II. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TC8JKHc2e6E (taken from the official OwnHammer HHC2 newsletter) The greatly anticipated sequel to last year's viral IR library, the Heavy Hitters Collection Volume I, like its predecessor contains four monumental cabinets, each loaded with three different speaker types, those being: “212 ZLFB†based on a Zilla Fatboy 2x12 cabinet. - “H75†based on Celestion G12H-75 Creamback speakers. - “LYN†based on Celestion G12-50GL Lynchback speakers. - “V30†based on Celestion Vintage 30 speakers. “212 ZLSF†based on a Zilla Super Fatboy 2x12 cabinet. - “M25†based on 6402 cone Celestion G12M-25 speakers. - “V30†based on Celestion Vintage 30 speakers. - “WLV†based on Celestion WH-80 Wolverine speakers. “412 EDVH†based on an EVH 5150 III 4x12 cabinet. - “EDVH†based on Celestion G12EVH speakers. - “SHF†based on Sheffield 1230 speakers. - “V30†based on Celestion Vintage 30 speakers. “412 EMPR†based on an Emperor 4x12 cabinet. - “C65†based on Weber Ceramic 1265 speakers. - “H100†based on Celestion G12H-100 speakers. - “V30†based on Celestion Vintage 30 speakers. Like the HHC1, each cabinet includes dual speaker blend permutations, global V30 cab blends, and a Summary area. In place of the A1 Picks from the HHC1 is a new set of inclusions unique to the HHC2, the Custom Mixes. This takes the A1 segment to a new level, incorporating what likely would have made it to that section, and some things that wouldn't on their own, and blending them together for five tremendous and versatile tones. Each of these comes in four different mix types, mirroring most of the multi-mic recipes from the recent Player Pack entries. Like the A1 Picks in HHC1, the Custom Mixes section takes a library with almost 10,000 individual options and puts you right in the middle of the cream of the crop with 20 files, should you choose to keep it simple. With the HHC2, getting a wide variety of amazing sounds couldn't be easier! The library along with more information and a wealth of sound clips can be found at and purchased from: ownhammer.com/hhc2
  7. It sure would be nice if the Helix Editor had a find function for impulses. I bought the Freeman pack and just bought a Glenn Dalune pack as well and of course they have the IR's in the same banks. :) It would be great if I could do a Ctrl F on an IR in the list and it show me a list of all patches that are using that IR... or better yet, if I drag and drop an existing IR in the Impulses list, it would update all existing patches that use that IR with the new location. Actually, both of those solutions would be handy to be honest. Of course it would require an update to the actual Helix hardware to adjust the patches that are changed, but that has to happen with any other change to a patch anyway. If this sounds useful to anyone else, I can put the idea into IdeaScale, if not I will quietly just go about my day... :p I am of course going to manual move the Dalune ones, since I bought a small pack with like 25 patches, but ugh! LOL.
