    EXPRESSION PEDAL STOPS RESPONDING

Hi, I bought Helix lt in April 2018, since then I was very satisfied with this unit. Since almost 2 months, the Helix onboard expression pedal is behaving very random, being this the second or third time it happens to me: The expression pedal stops working for no reason. The switch toggle from exp 1/exp 2 works fine, I've tried switching presets, snapshots, switching from exp 1/2 , deleting Volume block and adding it again, new preset with volume block, etc. Im thinking also in a factory reset, cause this is very annoying. The worst part is that it happens while gigging, from one part of a song to another, the pedal stops working. I don't want to lose confidence on this unit but it's giving me a hard time. If I'm using it for swelling, well , it is a FAIL if the unit's expression pedal behaves randomly. I have external expression pedals, but using one doesn't fix my issue. The first time it happened to me, it lasted like 1 hour or so, this time I don't know. I just switched it off cause I was tired . I started to look on google hoping to know what was happening, but I think it only happens to me, since there's no other cases like mine in forums, at least. While digging I found out this thing has an optical sensor, but nothing else. Maybe that's the trouble, the damn sensor. Can you help me with this? Thanks

    Basic software

Hi ! A friend give me a Mobile Key 49 to start playing keyboard but I am a true beginner in software and I do not know what to do. Do you know if a very simple and intuitive software (for PC, Windows10) exists to be used with this MIDI controler? Thank you very much for your help ! Max
  3. Hi Everyone, I do a lot of recordings, guitar and backing tracks. I've always done so with an external multitrack recorder. It would be a lot more convenient if I could record on my laptop connecting my helix via USB. I have tried this many different ways and gotten mainly frustration. I wish Line 6 offered their own PC multitrack recorder that was certain to work well with their products. What I wish would work, is like this, I plug my helix into my PC by USB, and plug my headphones into my PC (not my Helix) and pull my backing track into my recording software, play along and record. I have not been able to make this work. The only thing that I got working was plugging my headphones into my helix, playing along with my backing tracks, which sounds good, but the recordings sound crap due to latency. Can anybody advise me, is what I want possible?
  4. Hi all, So I just bought a line 6 POD Studio UX2 and im having some issues installing pod farm 2. I have installed line monkey and updated my drivers for the hardware but when it comes to getting pod farm i get hung up on the installer and the process doesn't go through. I have got the included pod farm disc that came with the product but i have no way of using it due to me not having a disc drive in my pc. Any advice is appreciated.

    Line 6 Software gone downhill?

I have a PodXt Live and a JTV-69. Both really nice pieces of equipment!! However, I'm stuck with what's on them because I'm a Mac user and upgraded to High Sierra. Line 6 Edit for editing and saving my channel banks requires Java6 and even if you install it, High Sierra will start going bonkers with Java AWT errors when using it. What else can I use to manage/backup/edit my Pod Xt Live? Now, when it comes to Workbench HD, sure it all looks like it will work, but when it first starts up, it times out trying to download the presets. When I try to change body style or make some other change, it just freezes. This happens on multiple computers, one running Sierra and the other High Sierra. It just seems like the software quality and support has gone downhill. I can't make any changes to either pieces of equipment. Heck, I even tried on someone's Windows 10 machine and Workbench did the exact same thing, and I couldn't even get Line 6 Edit installed on it. To Line 6: Look, your equipment is great, it lasts a REALLY long time. But, you just can't forsake software when the operating systems advance. If you don't see it being cost beneficial to do so, then open up the software and allow the open source community to manage it. I spent my entire holiday trying to edit/customize my equipment settings and got absolutely nowhere. Any advice from out there in the ether? Any similar experiences?

    HX Effects Edit Software Status

I love my new HX Effects but my back hurts from leaning down to edit it (nice job on the interface though). I'm an old man and hope to see HX Edit software before I pass on. Possible? I heard Spring 2018, which is where we are. Hello? Hello? McFly? Thank you.
  7. Hi All, I am looking for free DAW software and i found Cakewalk from Bandlab and would like to share this tip with you. So far, i think it's the best DAW software available for free. It looks very nice and does an amazing good job ! At home i am using it to record tracks directly from my Helix LT over USB. And it works like a charm. As i am fond of sharing tips and tricks, i wrote a small tutorial for installing and first use of Cakewalk to record directly from the Line 6 Helix (LT) You can find the tutorial here ! Hope you will find it handy en will enjoy it !

    Helix Driver Windows 7 Installation

A quick note that I hope might be useful to others. I bought a Helix LT this week. The driver software loaded fine onto a couple of laptops but I couldn't get it to install on my main Windows 7 PC. The Helix showed up as a device in "Devices and Printers" but was reported by WIndows as unusable and that the driver had failed to load. It appears that my copy of Windows had loaded a generic USB device driver instead of the L6 software. Anyway, after several fruitless exchanges with L6 support, I found the fix myself. You need to go to the Helix device shown in Device Manager, click on Properties, click on Driver, tell it to "Update Driver" and install the driver manually from the folder: Programs (x86)/ Line6/ Tools/ Driver2 Archive/ Helix. Windows will identify the ".inf" file in that folder as the correct driver. Click on that and you should be good to go. I suspect it's an unusual problem inasmuch as one of my laptop installs was also Win 7 and went perfectly smoothly. Nevertheless, I hope this may help someone. Now I can get back to trying to get the Helix to play nicely with my DT25.......... Andy

    Get Vyzex Software for POD

I've searched Google and other places and can't seem to find the place to initially download the software needed to program my Pocket Pod. All places I've looked either don't look like the software or look like possible virus sights. Where should I go to download it?

How To Update the Spider V Amp

Thank you for purchasing a Spider V. To get the best performance from your new amp, please upload the latest firmware. You can upload in one of two ways connected to a mobile device or connected to a computer. It will take about 5 minutes to complete the upgrade. Please follow the instructions below: Updating firmware from an Android device: If you haven't already done so, create a Line6 User account: Go to Line6.com http://Line6.com> and click on "Sign In". Follow the instructions to create a free account. On your device, download the Spider Remote App from Google Play. Launch the Spider Remote application. Page through the slideshow, accept the terms and conditions, and then log into your Line 6 account. Connect your device to the appropriate USB connector on the back of the Spider V. Slide the "SELECT" switch to the USB port labeled "Mac/PC/Android". Turn on your Spider amp. Your Android device will present a dialog, which asks if you want to give Spider Remote permission to use your Spider Amp. Be sure to check the "Use by default for this USB device" checkbox, and then touch OK. Note: On some devices, this dialog may appear twice. If that occurs, just repeat this step. Spider Remote will automatically relaunch, and will provide instructions to upload the latest firmware for your amp. Updating firmware from an iOS device: If you haven't already done so, create a Line6 User account: Go to Line6.com http://Line6.com> and click on 'Sign In'. Follow the instructions to create a free account. On your device, download the Spider Remote App from the App Store. Connect your device to the appropriate USB connector on the back of the Spider V. Slide the "SELECT" switch to the USB port labeled "iPhone/iPod". Turn on your amp. Launch the Spider Remote application. Page through the slideshow, accept the terms and conditions, and then log into your Line 6 account. Follow the instructions to upload the latest firmware for your amp. Updating firmware from a Mac or PC: First, download the Line 6 Updater for Spider V: Go to Line6.com and click on "Support" Select "Downloads" and set the three pulldown windows under"Free Software Downloads" to: [spider V 30], [Line 6 Updater], [your Mac or PC OS] Click "GO" The page will update with the Line 6 Updater for the Spider V. Click 'GET DOWNLOAD' to download the updater program to your computer. Log in to your free Line 6 User account (or create a new account) Click on 'ACCEPT AND DOWNLOAD' and follow the instructions to save the program When the program has been downloaded, double-click on it and follow the instructions to install it in your computer. Once it's in Update Mode, attempt the update procedure again.
  11. Suggestion 1: A view which displays ALL Stomps + Snapshots As it is, it's much easier to edit on the unit itself. There are things that an app can do much better than a real hardware unit and vice a versa. Currently HELIX Editor isn't there yet. One of the current hassles is being able to view the settings for only ONE stomp or snapshot assignment at any one time. What would really help is if there was a view mode where the most salient information for EVERY pedal, and/or Snapshot was displayed all at once - at a glance. Since there is so much potential info that could be viewed ( and edited ) maybe some kinds of filter options or preferences would be needed in order to only show in this view the most salient information required. For example sometimes I need to be viewing and editing just the MIDI Controller settings for any pedal, another time all the effects bypass settings and another time the snapshots. There is SO much more potential GUI-wise for making HELIX HX Edit a fine and extremely productive tool for doing major work on HELIX - and at the moment as many have said it really IS currently much easier to edit on the actual unit itself. But as pleasant and cool as that is - there are many times when I want to be editing via HELIX Edit - and am away from the HELIX itself - even in another room - working remotely onto the HELIX via a computer over Wi fi even - and the app comes into its own. And given current limitations workflow-wise concerning MIDI Control aspects it would be really helpful of HX Edit came to the rescue. Surely one of the major things any music-making tool ought to strive at is improving the workflow of anything involving heavily used gear. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/HELIX-Editor-A-view-which-displays-ALL-Stomps-+-Snapshots/926664-23508#idea-tab-comments "add Option to show ALL setlists at same time": https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/HELIX-Editor-Option-to-show-ALL-setlists-at-same-time/816921-23508#idea-tab-comments "Show Snapshots as 8 separate buttons not dropdown" https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/HELIX-Editor-Show-Snapshots-as-8-separate-buttons-not-dropdown/864575-23508#idea-tab-comments View TWO presets at same time ( for copying or comparing settings etc... ) https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/HELIX-Editor-View-TWO-presets-at-same-time/820657-23508#idea-tab-comments

  13. Hi everybody ! The Line 6 Software section (https://line6.com/software/) is actually unavailable but I really need the FBV Control software quickly. Is there another link to download the software please ? Thanks !
  14. I've looked for this answer and couldn't find it, so forgive me if I missed it. I've just downloaded the Remote software for Windows 10. But before I install it, I was wondering if there was a minimum amount of RAM required for its use, similar to other modeling software. Does anyone know? Also, I downloaded the driver (I saw the link on another post)--is that required also, or does it automatically come with the Remote software or upload when I connect to my amp? (I have a Spider V 120) It would be nice if there were clearer instructions on how to use this. I previously used the Line 6 AX2 212 (so Line 6 and I go way back), which was considerably less complicated, and there were much better instructions. I've already thought about returning my amp several times because of the lack of clear instructions and tutorials. I'm still not totally sold. I have until the end of January to make up my mind. I feel like Line 6 is driving away potential customers, particularly the analog "traditionalists". Cheers x
  15. I was happy to see that Line 6 finally added a computer-based version of the Spider V Remote app so that I can dig in deeper on my computer screen and change tones while using a DAW. There was also talk in the email that I received of downloading new tones from the customtone.com website to upload and use in the app. I have not found this to be true. The customtone page does not list the Spider V and when I try and download a tone I get a message that says "Valid product registration or software purchase required to use CustomTone. I have registered my Spider and so this message is quite confusing Love my Spider but please work out the kinks.

Backing up Helix with old firmware

So I haven't updated my Helix once since I bought it and I'm still on v1.04.3 firmware. How do I backup all my presets on Helix? - the new editor I downloaded just shows me a message saying that my firmware is out of date so does that mean I can't back it up there? and if I can't with the this version of the editor is it possible to find that editor version still somewhere to save all my presets/ factory restore my helix/ and then update and upload the backup to my helix? Thank you.
  19. I'm about to sell my UX8 because I just don't do any recording anymore. My question is in regards to the software that came with the device. I still have the software disks that originally shipped with the device, but I'm not sure whether or not the software licenses can be transferred to the new owner. Will he be able to just install the PodFarm and GearMonkey (or whatever they're called) software from the disks and authenticate it since he'll have the physical unit plugged in, or would he have to purchase licenses to use the software?
  20. Hi, I am about to buy a used UX2 from Amazon and I am not sure if the software is with it or not. Can this software that lists with it (or other software) be downloaded. I am especially interested in Ableton live or recording software that comes with it or might be useful (example drum software, etc)? Thank you!
  21. After investigating claims of customers experiencing trouble when downloading software from www.Line6.com/software, we have discovered that Microsoft has changed/updated their methods for validating software downloaded from the internet. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/32288.windows-enforcement-of-authenticode-code-signing-and-timestamping.aspx The Smart Screen Feature in Internet Explorer 11 / Edge (see image below) appears to corrupt Windows downloads from our website. When this feature is disabled, the download appears to be fine. We suggest momentarily disabling this feature when downloading from our site. We advise that you contact our support team via a ticket at www.Line6.com/support/tickets if you continue to have difficulties with our site.

    Standard Workbench

Hello, I'm a line 6 / Variax newbie I have been given a Variax 500 with a view to purchasing, the guitar has the USB interface, which displays two green lights when all connected via usb interface, however I have downloaded Workbench HD and when this software is activated a window pops up explaining that this software is only compatible with later model guitars. Is there a way of accessing workbench to experiment with the guitar setup, do I need to use certain Line 6 products to enable this, or is this model of variax simply redudunt from a software perspective? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm considerably out of my knowledge depth! Cheers.
  23. Hi All, New to the forum. I have had my Amp setup for 3 years now. I bought a new (secondhand) guitar that has renewed my enthusiasm to pick up a guitar again. It seems though there are other plans afoot! I jumped online to see if there were any updates for the pedal and amp and sure enough there is! First thing I did was renew my password to login (as I forgot). Then I made sure I downloaded Line 6 sotware: Licence manager, Monkey, FBV controller & Spider Edit to my Macbook Pro. So I had everything powered off. I plugged in my Cat cable to the Amp & Pedal. I plugged in the USB between the Mac & Pedal. Turned amp on and powered laptop and logged into Monkey. Monkey found the devices and found the updates required so I downloaded those. Then right at the end of the update it came back with an error message about making sure cables are connected. (which they obviously were as everything was initially talking to each other) Then the amps display said 'Downloading'. So I thought it must have gone through. It said downloading for over an hour so I thought, these are only midi files, they ain't that big! So I tried to reinstall and then it said in the on screen software under Device Firmware, 'Unknown'. I restarted everything again but when I switched the amp back on it still came up with 'Downloading' It was at this point that I knew something had gone wrong for sure. I did a hard reset and cycled the pwr. Nothing. I searched the forums and found the factory reset. I have done that and now all the amp says is 'Ready to Install'. (which I tried but just get error messages about the firmware) If anyone knows a fix for this please please respond. Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, your my only hope!

  25. Like its predecessors, Windows 10 has a compatibility mode to allow users to run older programs written back when previous versions of Windows were the newest operating system. Right click on the app. Select "Properties". Click the Compatibility tab. Under the banner, a check box will appear next to the text "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" with the options in a drop down menu. The various Windows operating systems will appear, depending on the app. A more involved option is to install a virtual version of the old operating system of your choice (“virtual machine” or "VM") on your computer. This is different than dual-booting a computer, where the user divides/partitions the space on a single hard drive and installs a different operating system on each section, allowing the user to choose which OS is booted when the computer is powered on. The advantage with VM is the ability to run a program in the operating system that it was designed for in the first place. Windows 10 is compatible with Microsoft Virtual PC, a virtualization software that allows Windows users to run multiple versions of Windows, all the way back to Windows XP. This is a free download from the Microsoft Download Center. Microsoft provided a free copy of Windows XP to run in Windows 7 Pro. Pro versions of Windows 8.1 include Hyper-V to host alternative operating systems. Otherwise, Oracle’s (formerly Sun’s) VirtualBox and VMWare are some of the more common options available and are accessible for Windows, Mac and Linux users. Mac users can also use Boot Camp and Parallels to access alternate OS versions.
