  1. Some users of macOS might receive a system extension error message if they're connecting their device, or starting their computer. What to do if you get this error message on your Mac: The alert may ask you to open Security & Privacy preferences to allow the extension. You may also need to restart your Mac. The alert may ask you to contact the developer for support because the extension needs to be updated or will be incompatible with a future version of macOS. If you continue to get this message, you may need to remove the driver extension with these steps: The alert may ask you to open Security & Privacy preferences to allow the extension. You may also need to restart your Mac. On a Mac with Apple silicon, you may first need to use Startup Security Utility to set the security policy to Reduced Security and select the “Allow user management of kernel extensions from identified developers” checkbox.
  2. I think that title says it all, but I have some specific ideas on how and why it might currently benefit Line6 to do this. My brother works in a similar hardware/software environment and said it would be super easy. Users just have to be willing to make it worth their while. Please, for your first post, vote “YES” or “NO.” Then, post again, so it will be easy to tally the vote.
  3. Hi peeps. Just recorded a video. Hope you find it useful.
  4. Just curious. What is the origin of the "HD" effects on the Firehawk? I don't appear to have these mystery models on my other Line 6 "HD" products including my HD PRO (with upgrade model packs). Were these built for the Firehawk or were they part of an unpublished update for the "HD" line?
  5. Hi Guys. Ive had a UX1 since pod farm 1.0 maybe 13 years ago at a guess. I recently tried to start using plugins in reaper with IRs and also standalone Amp sims like Cali Suite by Neural DSP using my UX1 as the interface. But I've run into some crazy electrical noise I've never had before on both of these am sims with IRs loaders builtnit. I normal using podfarm for scratch tracks. I've tried the usual changing cables etc. But I cant figure out where its coming from so I am wondering if is possibly the UX1 itself. Also Is it possible for these super old interfaces to run IR based sounds? Just wondering as if not its about time I bought an upgrade. Asside from my PC components (PC is a pc specialist build) im not sure what else it could be so I am hoping y'all have some ideas? I can supply samples if needed. Much appreciated!
  6. Hi Guys, Haven't been able to update to 2.50 yet, but I'm very curious to know what is the general opinion on the quality of the legacy effects. I don't have experience with the gear they are deduced from. I've read they are supposed to sound a little bit better from the Helix, but what can I expect? Can't wait to update, but in the meantime thanks for your response!

  8. I have been thinking about how I use my Helix and just wanted to put this out there and see how other people feel about it. Rather than Line6 adding a "Legacy" category I would much rather they maintain the current effect categories, e.g. "Modulation", Distortion, Delay, etc. and just append the legacy effect's name with an asterisk, a different color or font, or some other way of indicating that they are legacy. This makes much more sense to me than for example adding a "Legacy" list. I am just considering how I use my Helix and when I, for example, go looking for a distortion effect, I would prefer to see all of them in one place, HX and legacy, and be able to select the one that best fits my needs. Having to go into a separate master list - "Legacy", just seems like a poor way to navigate for effects spread out across many categories and will probably make them less likely to be used. Ultimately as long as a legacy effect is differentiated visually from an HX effect, I don't mind it being in the current set of block lists it pertains to(Distortion, Mod, etc.) along with all of my other HX effects. Don't want to come off as sounding critical here about this fantastic update, I am very grateful for the addition of the legacy effects. I am just wondering if the method for navigating to the new "Legacy" effects could be improved upon. I think they will get more usage if they appear, clearly marked, in the same lists as the HX effects, and be much simpler to navigate to. It will also be much simpler to compare similar effects if they are all in one list, e.g. distortions, rather than to have to jump to a completely separate category to listen to the legacy distortions. I guess I am proposing that the Legacy category be eliminated and that Legacy effects just be clearly indicated in some other manner but included in the existing categories of HX effects. How are other folks feeling about this? Update: Added this to IdeaScale. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Move-Legacy-Effects-in-with-the-rest-and-make-em-look-different/921132-23508#idea-tab-comments
  9. I have a Variax 300 and a Helix. Can anyone tell me if the Helix is capable of saving the guitar and the 5 way toggle setting when I make a patch that I like. I would like to know if there is a way when recalling that patch that it will automatically go to the guitar and the 5 way setting I was at no matter if my selector and 5 way are set to something totally different. I would really appreciate some help on this. Thanks in advance, Rocco
  10. Hey guys, So I was having the problem of installing gearbox on my new macbook pro 2012 on MacOS Sierra. Unfortunately I didn't find much of a solution here but I figured it out and I thought I'd share my solution. My Toneport GX now works with my mac and audio seems to work fine. Installing gearbox So if you run the master installer (.mpkg) you'll quickly see that you can't choose your hard drive because it's not OS X, but MacOS. Instead you can right click on the .mpkg file when you first open the installer and click on "Show Package Contents". Then go to Contents > Packages. Now you'll see the directory containing the individual packages. Be sure to click keep after running each package when it prompts you to move the .dmg to the trash. Install all of the packages except for the Driver Uninstaller. I don't know if the order you do this in matters but I just went for drivers, driver prefs, gearbox, plugins, line6 monkey then frameworks. You will likely have to keep security settings open to authorise running each individual package but it's a small inconvenience in the grand scheme of things. after you've installed the packages test to see if GearBox is working. Installing Drivers Go to the software download page and select your_device_name > Drivers > Mac OS X and download the driver. I didn't have any issues installing this one the typical way of just running the package. After installing the driver everything worked like a charm when I opened GearBox. Note The only shortcoming I noticed was that every time I open GearBox it gives me the first-time prompts even when I hit "Never show this again" and it opens up the documentation but I don't lose my custom tones or anything.
  11. Hi - new user of Line 6 amps, I have 2 of them spider IV 30 and spider 2 75 I'm not understanding how the channels a thru d work - this may be extremely obvious but this is why I'm asking On the model dial, you have 6 models with 2 choices per model = 12 choices The channel buttons only have 4 choices The way it seems to work is that I can use the channel buttons to pick 4 of my favorite models rather than having to turn the dial... Is that right? seems too simple and limiting... (im only getting 4 out of 12, the others I have to use the dial) - why not have all 12? I was hoping the 4 "channel" buttons would capture the settings of all the 12 dialed choices so each "channel" could give me presets for the whole range of 12 models - that would be tremendously better in my opinion. Next question, are the models the same on the 2 of my amps? The insane does not seem to be, Ive factory reset (press channel a while powering on...) but they seem different. The insane on the II 75 is unreal! , on the IV good but not as the II. I would think they should be the same... One more... :-) I'm guessing there is no way to selectively reset models? I could spend a lot of time getting one right and could lose it. I suppose I could go through and write the settings down on paper. Is there any other alternative? I've got these 2 amps used at a very low price, probably due to their age, but they are extremely well made and work very great. Thanks Bob
  12. After some price-drops in the last few weeks Thomann offers only the Line6 POD HD Pro X. The POD HD500x is no longer online and there is no upcoming stock information. Seems that the HD-Line is going to leave the market forever now. A pity especially after this surprising comparison… https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/ax8-headrush-helix-hd500x-shootout.1852940/ I will keep mine until it's death (and already bought a backup for 170 USD)
  13. Hi fellow variax freaks, I have a conundrum, and wonder if anyone may be in a position to help out in return for some unwanted piezos from Variax 300 and 600 - see piezo details below. *** I enquired at a local (Australian) Line 6 distributor regarding buying a jackplate assembly for a newly purchased second hand vaxplant, which has the original variax 300 jackplate assembly, (which requires surgical precision to get the little rubber boot provided to cover the RJ45 connection), and I figure since I already have two other vaxplants, I may as well buy two, so I have a spare. I already bought two, (around three years ago), for less than $30AUD each, though as it turned out, (legacy version no longer available), they were the bass versions, which are interchangable with the 300-700 series (with a little chisel handiwork). See link.. http://www.fullcompass.com/prod/218353-Line-6-50-04-0181-4 Yesterday, the local supplier quoted me $100 each, and they would be for the JTV69 model version - apparently also interchangable....(?) So, I'm a little old fashioned, in so much as I'm not really that interested in lining people's pockets in arbitrary ways, such as this kind of price hike would suggest is occurring, and it would appear I can't order from Full Compass, cos I don't reside in the requisite 50-odd states.... So, it brings me to this random, weirdo request for someone who may may fancy some 2nd hand L R Baggs piezos (14 in total - (new RRP circa $13US each - http://www.fullcompass.com/prod/114557-Line-6-11-11-0001 ), worth around a hunjee in anyone's terms, in exchange for acquiring a couple of the jackplate assemblies, and sending them to me in Australia. I'm happy to despatch first, via registered post, and send you an email showing tracking information. In fact, I have other hardware, eg unused variax 300/600 bits I could throw into the equation also, just to inspire some mutually satisfying trans-global weirdness. ***I upgraded to Ghosts while doing transplants, and have unwanted (but still fully functioning when removed), L R Baggs piezos - a total of 14, including 2 brand new, unused, that I bought as spares. I initially thought that two piezos were failing in a second hand 300 that I bought, and upon installing the new graphtechs, while I did a transplant, the problem disappeared for a short while, but soon returned. The first E and B piezos take some time (15 minutes) to wake up, after the variax is plugged in. They then become fully operational, and because the same problem still exists, it must be a problem with the PCB, not the piezos. I get around it, by plugging it in, while I continue my setup at a gig, and as such is a non-issue. Yours, in weirdness, Ian.
  14. My biggest complaint about Line6 is that new PODs don't include all the older model amps and effects. I can't move all my meticulously-designed patches onto the latest and greatest product. So right now I have to deal with two pieces of rack gear (X3 Pro and HD Pro), and that complicates everything - footswitching, multiple outputs, midi, external loops, bypass, etc. I realize that older amps and effects models aren't "HD." I just don't understand why they can't be converted as-is to be available as legacy patches on the new PODs. I would gladly pay for that. Please let me know if I've missed something about all this. I would love to learn that there's a project in motion to convert all the old stuff. Thanks for any info!
  15. Q: Why did Line 6 create these Legacy forums? A: Line 6 will no longer be offering technical support for any products that are no longer manufactured and distributed. Because of this, we wanted to create a community where Legacy users can answer each other's questions, and also find all appropriate documentation for their products. Q: What does "Legacy" mean? A: Legacy is the term used by Line 6 to describe all products that are no longer manufactured, distributed, or supported by Line 6. Q: What if my Legacy product breaks down and needs repair? Can I still have it fixed? A: Yes. All of our authorized service centers still have access to all Legacy schematics and any available parts. However, depending on the failure, some parts may no longer be available. Please call your local Service Center for more details. Q: Will Line 6 still offer software support when it is used with a Legacy product? A: No. Technical support for software will not be offered by Line 6 when being used with a Legacy hardware device.
