  2. Q: How many different ways can I connect my POD X3 Live in a live setting? 1. Mono or Stereo Recording or Direct to Mixer/PA 2. Feed One Guitar Amp 3. Feed Two Guitar Amps, One for Tone 1 and One for Tone 2 4. Feed a Guitar Amp and Send Separate XLR Direct Outs to Mixer/PA 5. Electric Guitar to On-Stage Amp & Direct Out + Vocals/Acoustic/etc.to Direct Out Only NOTE: Instructions to the connection methods listed above can be found in the POD X3 Live Pilots Manual Section 7*1, download it here! Q: Can I use a phantom powered condenser mic with the POD X3 live? A: The POD X3/X3 Live does not offer phantom power which is needed when using any condenser type microphones for recording or live use. See Referenced KB link for details. No sound out of microphone with X3/X3 Live Q: I just want the original factory sounds back into my POD X3 live, can I do this without having to connecting it to the computer and launching Line 6 Monkey? A: Sure you can, you can do this directly from the X3 Live hardware interface How do I restore the Factory Presets in my POD X3 Live? Q: What is Dual Tone? A: DUAL TONE is the ability to split your single-input guitar or bass signal through two different amp and effect chains simultaneously to create gorgeous new hybrids, or use its dual inputs to individually process two instruments - a microphone and a guitar, for example - at the same time. Q: And how do I make a dual tone patch? A: Here is an example given in the pilots manual for exhibit 3: Feed Two Guitar Amps, One for Tone 1 and One for Tone 2.....(Manual 7*3) 1. Connect the left 1/4-inch output to one amp, and the right 1/4-inch output to the other. 2. Set the first OUTPUTS page (1/4-inch Outputs): * Mode: Combo Front, Combo Pwramp, Stack Front, or Stck PwrAmp. * Lows, Focus, Highs: as desired *Tone 1: On * Tone 1 Pan: Full Left * Tone 2: On * Tone 2 Pan: Full Right 3. Check your Master Volume. • Select the loudest preset/settings you intend to use. • Play your instrument and turn Master Volume as high as you can without clipping the amp/speakers you're feeding. Q: I made a dualtone patch with my MIC on tone 2, but it changes when I switch patches, how do I lock it? A: From the main signal chain Page of your X3 live LCD screen, you can lock Tone 2 to prevent it from getting overwritten when loading new presets. This is handy when you're using Tone 2 for vocals and you want to make sure it doesn't change when you recall guitar presets on Tone 1. From the Pilots Handbook page: 4-9 Watch this Demonstration of the X3's Dual Tone Feature: Crunch Dual Tone Video Q: Does the tuner only work with the 1/4" mono guitar input? A: The X3 Live tuner only operates on the Tone 1 input. If you've selected Variax, it will tune the variax.

For reference on functionality of SD card related tasks, please refer to the JM-4 Advanced User's Guide, found on the Manuals page. Application Q: How do I record from both the Guitar and Mic inputs at the same time on the JM-4 Looper? A: You can only record from either the Guitar input or the Mic/Aux input using the Record Select button on the left side of the pedal, but not both at the same time. The AUX input can be routed to be recorded in conjunction with either the Guitar input for guitar amp and effect processing, or the Mic input with the vocal processing effects by holding down the Record Select button, then selecting your routing option from the screen. Known Issues -Quick Capture = Hold the UNDO switch and then hold down REC switch (not REC + UNDO as it is silkscreened on the unit). In other words, first step on UNDO switch and keep it held down while also stepping on REC switch. -The "Clip" LED lights up upon powering up the JM-4. This is normal power-up behavior. -Some of the Artist/Song Presets from the original Spider III release were not included in the JM-4 release due to space restrictions. -The Guitar Tone Presets (70's sounds by Song Title) are simply guitar tones. They are not backing tracks. The backing tracks on the JM-4 are original compositions written and recorded by studio musicians specifically for Line 6 Spider Jam and JM-4 products. Registration & Warranty Q: How do I register my JM-4? A: You can register any Line 6 product to your account here: Registration. Q: What is the warranty on the JM-4? A: Twelve months from the date of purchase. Authorized Line 6 Service Centers will need you to provide a copy of the purchase receipt to validate date for warranty processing. Please be sure to have those materials ready, should you need to get your unit serviced under warranty. Troubleshooting & Service Q: How do I troubleshoot my Line 6 Pedal? A: Please refer to the Line 6 Pedal Troubleshooting FAQ Q: How do I perform a Factory Reset on the JM-4? A: Power on the unit while holding the Settings/Tone button down for 5-8 seconds. Q: I'm hearing this background noise present when using the JM-4, what should I check? A: Check to make sure the Mic Trim knob is turned OFF when not using the microphone input. Q: I am noticing clipping and or popping sounds on my backing tracks? A: Some backing tracks are louder than others and may clip. If you notice clipping occuring you can lower the song/drums playback level until the clipping is no longer heard. Replacement Parts & Manuals Some replacement parts are available from the Line 6 Store. 4. I'm thinking of getting a Helix LT next week to use as a 4CM FX only board with my Orange Dual Dark 50. I've been led to believe the amp has a line level tube FX loop. Would the following configuration of I/O and level settings work to maintain correct gain structure through the rig?... Guitar > Helix In Loop 1 (Inst Lvl) Send > Amp In Amp Send > Loop 2 (Line Lvl) Return Helix (Line Lvl) Out > Amp Return Thanks.
  5. Hello Line 6 forum users, I was hoping you could help advise me with a dilemma that I'm having. I want to take advantage of Line 6's promotional deal for a Mission Engineering expression pedal when purchasing a helix rack and control this month so I went to Guitar Center (as I believe they are a licensed Line 6 dealer) yesterday to do so when they informed me that the earliest that a helix rack would be able to be shipped would be on the 27th of February as they didn't have one in store. I'm concerned that while I could get a receipt today, the 20th of February, showing I purchased a helix I wouldn't have the physical unit until perhaps March, when the promotion would have expired, and consequently if the serial number was needed to register the unit (as I assume it is) that I would miss the window of the promotion. Is it possible that there may be a way that even if my unit doesn't arrive during the promotional period that I could still receive a Mission Engineering expression pedal if I had proof of purchase during the promotional period? I have attempted to contact Line 6 through both repeated calls today and yesterday to the 1 (818) 575-3600 phone number they have listed as well as through a Facebook message but have yet to receive a reply. I understand that their customer service isn't listed as being open during the weekends and, while they are shown to be available on Mondays, that today is Presidents' Day in the United States so it's understandable that they may not be at work. Ideally I'd be purchasing the helix rack and control today from Guitar Center in order to take advantage of their Presidents' Day discounts but if possible I'd like to get confirmation on whether I would be able to receive the Mission Engineering expression pedal as well. Thanks for taking the time to read and any help you can offer!
  6. Hi all! I'm new to the forum, although i use line 6 gear's for some time. I was user of Line 6 pod XT and right now i have pod HD500 (i also have AMP from line6). My main guitar gear is Ibanez 350 DX and i use two programs for recording/mixing: Reaper and Reason (only for MIDI stuff). I did research in presets all over the web. I found interesting stuff in download on this site, in Youtube etc. The problem is that i can't reach where i want in rhythmic and leads sound and maybe you can help with that. For first i will show you the sound that i think will be great to have (or at least close to that): For rythm section: https://youtu.be/aomNA4sBTSM?t=44s- i think this is really clear, strong guitar sound For solo: - great play but also a nice tone. Good thing is that he plays it on pod 500, but i don't know how he record that stuff. My record way is right now: Guitar-Cable to guitar input-POD-USB Cable-Computer I use Reaper as i mentioned before and orginal ASIO drivers from line6 If you tell that it will be huge difference with other way to recording then i will consider this, but i want to know about all the necessary stuff like cables, second interface or microphone etc. that i should buy. Yesterday i record something: https://soundcloud.com/artur-futerko/chuj/s-6ombe#t=0:42 It is only test. I used some presets from line6 download and i did a little bit of edit in Reaper (equalizer). I know that guitar is a little bit out of tune and i also play some random stuff - it was only messing with POD. Here is some of my old stuff, but this was recorded on Pod XT: https://soundcloud.com/artur-futerko/futerko-steel-for-humans-witcher-3-metal-cover-percievalmarcin-przybylowicz https://soundcloud.com/artur-futerko/futerko-heart-of-courage-two-steps-from-hell-metal-remix PS. I recorded also electro-acoustic guitar on POD and i use stock effect for acoustic and it sound really great!
  7. Hi everyone! I just bought a line 6 POD HD500X pedal and I've read some posts from this forum (http://line6.com/support/topic/1672-can-i-utilize-a-usb-3-cable-for-my-pod-x3/ http://line6.com/support/topic/8367-cant-install-drivers-for-pod-hd500x/) I actually have got the same problems as Miguel Marquez in the second post, but it has passed already a year and the thread is not answered. Ok, I only have 1 computer, and the problem (I think) is that all my USB ports are 3.0, but i would like to see what do you guys think, cause probably I may be wrong.
  8. Hey guys. I want to buy Floor POD Plus from a guy, but he has no power supply for it. I wanted to buy 9v AC 2000mA adapter for it, because i read that it's the default power supply for this POD, but it's expensive in here. Can I use an adapter with less miliampers than 2000? Like 1300 or smth? I can't find any information about this on the internet.
  9. A few months ago, I got a new microphone and preamp and did a handful of recordings though my old TonePort KB37. The preamp has a balanced TRS output and an XLR output, so I connected it with a balanced TRS cable to the KB37's Line 1 input. Because I just wanted a dry vocal signal, I didn't install Pod Farm or any of that stuff, just the driver. Recently, I've switched to recording on my POD HD500X. To record dry vocals, I just switch on the tuner (in bypass mode) or use an empty preset. However, I noticed that my recordings sounded very different. So, I did some side-by-side comparisons. I also tested the Mic input on the KB37. What I found out is that everything sounds exactly the same except the KB37's line input. I've attached some samples for comparison (the HD500X recording was connected with a TRS cable via the Aux input). Is there any explanation as to why the line input on the KB37 sounds this way? Can I fix it? Should I redo all of those recordings? Here are the samples: KB37 Mic Input: mic.mp3 KB37 Line Input: line.mp3 HD500X Aux Input: hd500x.mp3
  10. I've recently been looking around to find an affordable JTV 69 in my area, and i came across some online sellers trading JTV 69 in a Shoreline Gold. which I love the color but given that the Line 6 Website doesn't show the 69 being available in the gold i'm a little sceptical as to whether these are legitimate or not. anyone able to help clear up the mystery? or is it just one of the many US custom colors?
  11. Last night, it worked fine, but I woke up this morning to use it because I'm going to buy the metal shop pack, but now it doesn't work. I've connected it into both the USB Ports on my Macbook, the lines in the HUD moves ever so slightly when I plug it in, and the red button for phantom power doesn't even light up. Please help.
  12. Hi. I always wanted to add some new effects to my loved spider valve, especially the octoverb and particle reverb, so, I buy a Line6 M5 and I want to show you how I use both together. Guitar -> Spider Valve -> preamp out -> M5 in -> M5 out -> power amp in MIDI = Spider valve midi out/thru -> M5 midi in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7RfXpNYWew Sorry my english, is not my native lenguage. Bye

A: A factory reset on any POD HD Device is performed by re-installing the Flash Memory on the POD HD using the Line 6 Monkey utility. Please ensure to connect the POD HD Device to a PC or Mac computer via USB 2.0 ports. Please ensure to disconnect all unnecessary USB devices and to test all of the computer's USB ports if you encounter connection problems. You can view a video tutorial on how to re-install the flash memory of the POD HD here: [Video Tutorial] How to Reset the POD HD Series by updating or reinstalling the Flash Memory Q: How do I access the global settings screen on my POD HD Device? A: Press and hold the VIEW button to the left of the LCD screen on the to enter the SETUP pages of the POD. Press the Left and Right arrow buttons on the 4 Way Nav to access all of the SETUP pages where you can set your inputs, outputs, MIDI settings and more. Q: How do I reset the global settings of my POD HD Device? A: Press and hold the Left Arrow button on the 4 Way Nav as you power on the POD. This reset resets the global settings back to factory defaults and also renames the Set Lists to factory as well. NOTE: This DOES NOT reset the presets. That requires re-installing the flash memory using Line 6 Monkey. (Same as Factory Reset above.) Q: How should I set the OUTPUT MODE on my POD HD Device? A: The OUTPUT MODE can be set in PAGE 4 of the global settings pages. NOTE: This setting affects ALL of the outputs of the POD HD500: 1/4" unbalanced L/R outputs, XLR outputs, the headphones output, and the USB record sends 1-2 into your computer. Output modes: Studio Direct: For connecting “Direct” to a mixing console (PA) or recording device. Also, this is the best setting for using headphones or monitor speakers. Combo and Stack Settings: These 4 options are all designed to optimize your tone for connecting to an external amplifier. The signal includes "Live' Cab Models, with no Mic Model or "AIR" convolution, with a special EQ curve added for each. Combo Front and Stack Front - For connecting the output of the POD HD500 into the front input of a typical combo amp or amp head + external cab, respectively. When choosing either of these Modes, you will see additional optional for further tone shaping. Combo Power Amp and Stack Power Amp - For connecting the output of the POD HD500 into the power amp or Effects Return of a combo or head amp. Set the AMP/LINE switch on the POD HD500 to LINE for this output mode. Use this setting to bypass the front preamp of your amplifier to use the POD as the digital preamp being fed directly into the power amp section of the amp. NOTE: If plugging into the effects return of an amp, set any loop level controls to 100% if available. May get lower output in amps with parallel effects loops by design. Sometimes, you may need to insert a dummy 1/4" into the amps input to make this connection work. A: Download and install the POD HD Edit software to edit or create the presets of the device on your computer. You can store the presets to your computer, and load presets from your computer that you create or download from Customtone.com. Q: How long is the looper on the POD HD? A: At full speed, the looper has 24 seconds total looping time. In 1/2 Speed Mode, the looper has 48 seconds total looping time. Q: What are Set Lists and how do I access them? A: The POD HD500 stores up to 64 presets within each of the 8 Set Lists. Press the PRESETS knob to display the Set Lists screen. Use the 4 Way Nav, or turn the PRESETS knob to select any Set List, then press the ENTER button. This immediately loads the selected Set List, making all its presets available. Q: Does the XLR Mic input provide Phantom power for condenser microphones? A: The XLR Mic input does not provide Phantom power on the HD500 or HD Bean. You would need to use an external preamp to provide Phantom power to the condenser mic before connecting to the POD HD500 or Bean. The POD HD Pro DOES provide phantom power as well as a PAD and Low Pass Filter. Q: What Sample rates do POD HD Devices Support? A: The POD HD500 Supports 44.1, 48, 88.2, and 96k at 16 or 24bit Q: What is the input impedance of the POD HD before the 1.40 flash memory update? A: The input impedance of the POD HD series before the 1.40 flash memory update was 1M Ohm. POD HD 500 Specific Functions: Q: How do I enable the Wah effect with the expression pedal of the POD HD500? A: When you assign a wah effect (or any other effect) to be toggled on/off by the Expression Pedal Toe Switch, in order to physically enable or disable the effect, you must press down hard on the front toe portion of the expression pedal. You must use a good amount of pressure pressing down on the toe of the expression pedal which makes it difficult to do with your hand. Placing the pedal on the floor and press down hard on the toe of the expression pedal with your foot. You should see the red EXP 1 light change to green EXP 2 (or vice versa). Q: Which external expression pedals can I use with the POD HD500? A: We recommend using the Line 6 EX-1 or the Mission Engineering EP1-L6 expression pedals. You can also use any other expression pedal containing a 10k Ohm Potentiometer. Expression pedals allow you to change stompbox controls using your feet so you can adjust the sound while you play. On the fly, you can modify the length of your delay time, dial up the reverb mix, or change the depth of your tremolo, or anything you program the expression pedal to control on the POD HD500. Q: How do I assign the foot switches of the POD HD500 to use it as a MIDI Controller? A: Press and hold the MOVE button to access the MIDI ASSIGN screen. This is where you configure custom MIDI commands to the Expression Pedal 1 and 2, Expression Pedal Toe switch, FS1-FS8, Looper, and TAP switches. All settings on this screen are saved per Preset. Please go over the Advanced User Guide for further info. NOTE: When the bottom row footswitches are set to ABCD Mode, FS5-FS8 will ONLY send Program Change messages that are sent as a result of switching presets, even if assigned to send a different MIDI parameter in the MIDI ASSIGN screen. Q: How do I assign an effect or amp block to be toggled with a foot switch? A: In the Signal Flow screen, select the FX or Amp Block which you want assigned to one of your footswitches. Then Press and hold the ENTER button to display the Footswitch Assign screen. The Footswitch Assign page is display is similar to your Signal Flow view. Use Multi-function Knob 1 to select the footswitch to which you want this FX Block assigned. You can also just press the FS switch you would like to assign it to that amp or effect. NOTE: you can assign multiple FX Blocks to a single footswitch or Exp Pedal's "toe switch". You can reference the current Preset’s FX footswitch assignments by pressing the VIEW button to display the Performance View screen. Q: How do I calibrate the Expression Pedal of the POD HD500?
