Is it possible to run my guitar through a distortion pedal, through the KB37? I know the KB37 has a line in, but I don’t want to ruin it. Any help is appreciated

Hi! My KB37 doesn't work anymore since update to Mojave... anyone an idea to get this fixed?
-
Hi friends, since a number of years i am owning the Line 6 expression pedal (ex-1), that i want to connect to my KB37. As i remember i got it working one or two times with Gear Box (WahWah) but not in Pod Farm. After several restarts and maybe OS Upgrades (i started under XP, now we have WIndows 10), i cannot get it to work anymore. I have upgraded to the newest Drivers and Firmware using Line 6 Monkey. Has someone the same problem or can give me some hints? I attached the configuration as screenshot below. Is there a way to test whether it is possible to generally capture input signals from this LINE 6 Pedal? I have used the tool "Midi-OX" to check if midi messages can be captured and it looks like that it works (but not in Pod Farm). I've just found a post by myself from the year 2010 in this forum, where i was asking if the expression pedal feature has already been implemented in Pod Farm, because during that time it only seemed to be available in Gear Box. Has it been implemented now? With best regards and nice easter weekend Bjoern

I updated my Mac (iMac) and Mac OSX to Catalina and my KB37 interface stopped working, Tried a UX2 and same result -- flashing clipping (red) lights indicating drivers not loading. Tech support told me it was a security issue but instructions could have been clearer, so posting them here in the hope they will be useful. 1. Install driver package and restart computer. 2. Go to System Preferences and then Security & Privacy 3. Go to the General tab and look for "Some System Software was blocked from loading" 4. Unlock (so type in password) and click on Allow 5 Select Line 6 checkbox I was told that you should not wait to long (less than 15 minutes) after the restart to do the security setting. Hope this helps.

Hey Everyone, I've recently been given a TonePORT KB37 and I know its a bit older but has anyone gotten it to work as a sound card for Ableton 10 with windows. The midi works great but I cant get any audio to work at all recording wise. I get error messages when trying to have it chosen as a choice for output or input. I have the driver installed for windows. I tried both of the most recent ones as it looked like the latest didnt work and they instructed to use the one before. Am i missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Willis

Hi friends, I've tried everything, I've read lots of messages in theses forums during days and I've done all the "what to do" things I've found. But the mic lines of my P.studio KB37 still not working. Iv'e installed all new drivers and stuff, all the newest and latest versions. I tried everything and inspected lots of times my Garageband preferences but...there was no luck... The only thing I can't install is GEARBOX (but I don't know if it is imprescindible...) Cause the installing process says to me I can't install it in my HD (please see the two screen captures). My system is OSX EL Capitan 1.11.4, and theorically, there's no problems with this version and the new line 6 drivers now... But I still can not using my microphone... I'm a little desperated because I can't record the voices for my projects. It's so annoying to have the sources and all what you need but can't doing it due to this kind of software fails... Some people said to me to purchase an external prev. for voice recording, but I think is so silly to expend money having this helpfull PODstudio which has two mic inputs yet...I think it has to be fixed... Is someone here with the same problem? Could someone, please, help me? I need a solution as fast as possible Thanks a lot!!

Hi all, Today I find that I can no longer connect X3 live and kb37 with my Windows 10 PC. The latest Monkey software won't connect to either device. All my other USB musical devices are working perfectly fine with any cable. Windows 10(64 bit) does see my line6 gear but reports driver error..I have installed the latest drivers for both. The x3 was working perfectly fine with the PC a few weeks back..same with the kb37 a few months ago. Wondering if anyone else having this sort of issue. Thanks, TC

Q: What is the KB37 used primarily for? A: It is a 37-key USB MIDI keyboard/control surface and TonePort USB audio interface. The KB37 will be able to send and receive MIDI CC information and process audio input and output across the USB connection to the host computer. Q: What are the knobs in the center top of the keyboard for? A: They are 4 software-assignable MIDI Continuous Control parameter knobs with 4 soft-buttons and a dedicated set of MIDI transport controls. The KB37 can control assignable MIDI parameters in most software synthesizer/samplers on the market today, along with most digital audio recording application sequencer track transport controls. Note: The KB37 does not have any of it's own onboard sounds. It is a MIDI controller that sends MIDI data to the computer and any installed MIDI software synthesizer/sound software. Q: What are the Audio Specs for the TonePort I/O section? A: Sample rate conversion at 16 and 24 bit at 44.1, 48 and 96 kHz. 2 XLR inputs with mic preamps and +48V phantom power. 2 Guitar/Bass Inputs – use the Pad input for guitars and basses with high level pickup outputs, or the normal input. Dual analog VU meters (software assignable to input, record send, and output levels). Q: Can I use GearBox editing software with the KB37? A: Yes, the KB37 is a GearBox software supported TonePort family device. Reference Links: Assigning KB37 Transport Keys To Logic 7 MMC Input must be enabled in Logic 7 in order to receive MMC from the KB37. From the main application menu, open Preferences>MIDI Select the Sync tab Click the MIDI Sync Song Settings button in the bottom right; this launches the Song Settings dialog. In the section labeled "MIDI Machine Control (MMC)" check the "Listen to MMC Input" option Note that this is a per-song option. To make this option global, you must modify your template file. Open Line 6 Audio/MIDI devices. Go to the MIDI tab. Click the Settings button. Choose a preset from the presets list. For each transport control, change the "To MIDI Out" parameter to "MIDI CC", assign a MIDI CC (for this example, we'll use 20-24), and change Switch Mode to Momentary. Click the Apply button, name the preset, click the Save icon and click OK. Click OK on the next screen. Assigning KB37 Transport Keys To Sonar 6 Go to Options/MIDI Devices and choose the KB37 as the input device and choose OK. Go to Options/Controllers/Surfaces. Click the Add New Controller/Surface icon. For Controller/Surface, choose ACT MIDI Controller. Input port should be the KB37. Click OK. Go to Views/Toolbars and ensure Controllers/Surfaces is selected, then close the window. In the Controllers toolbar, click the Controllers/Surfaces Properties button that is at the right end of the Control Surfaces toolbar. Although you can choose any preset, the M-Audio Ozone is laid out closest to the KB37 layout, so use it for this example. In the Controllers tab, you'll see 8 columns, each containing 4 three-row sections, three of which should be labeled "N/A". Go to the last of those 3 rows and click the n/a label to name it Rewind. Name the next 3 N/A fields from left to right: Stop, Play and Record. There is an empty field two slots below each of the labels. When you click the empty field for each of the 4 columns you just set up, press the corresponding transport button on the KB37 and it will be learned by Sonar. Go to the Options tab and under the Buttons category, drop down the second field to choose a control label and the third field to choose the transport control. Uncheck the "Exclude this button from ACT" setting each time. Click in the Presets field to name your new preset then hit the save icon. This preset will be stored and available to use with the KB37. Control Garageband With KB37 In order to control the Transport functions in Garageband with the KB37 you will need to have version 2.0.1 of Garageband or later. The Garageband software cannot do this natively and so you will need to download add-on software that permits MIDI messages to control the play and stop buttons in Garageband. GarageRemote is one such software and is available here: http://www.muratnkonar.com/otherstuff/garageremote/ This software is from the company: murat n konar Once GarageRemote is installed and set up, start GarageRemote's Listener off by default) so that it can relay MIDI notifications to GarageBand. GarageBand responds to MIDI CC 007 and 010 for current track volume and pan, and these parameters can be assigned to the existing GarageBand MIDI preset of the Line 6 Audio-MIDI Devices settings. Setting Up The KB37 Transport With Cubase The KB37 has control wheels and buttons like many other Mackie or others transport cotrollers. You can get the two working together by simply going into: device setup, click on the + button, add MIDI MACHINE CONTROL SLAVE, and select the Line 6 Toneport KB37 from the menu on the right. In order to set the control on the KB37 itself you will need to go to: Line 6 Audio Midi Devices in your Control Panel and select the MIDI tab. Setting Up The KB37 To Control Reason First, ensure that you have downloaded and installed the latest version of Line 6 Monkey. Run it and verify that your TonePort KB37 is running the latest driver, firmware and flash memory. Download the latest version of GearBox application and install it to your computer. Launch the "Line 6 Audio-MIDI Devices" program from the Line 6/Tools folder. Next, make sure the KB37 is the active device. Select the MIDI tab and from the drop-down list of Controller Mapping applications, select Reason (version #). You are now ready to use the KB37's transport, Sound Select and 4 assignable real-time parameter controls with Reason. Keep in mind that you will be using the default parameter control settings. If you wish to customize those, click on the "Settings" button to access the Parameter Map screen. The drop-down list titled "MIDI CC/Action" is where you can modify which device parameters are to be controlled by the available controllers on the KB37. Keep in mind that each Reason Device has it's specific parameter CC# assignment. To access those values, refer to the "MIDI Implementation Chart" located in the Documentation folder within the Reason application folder on your computer's hard drive.

hello, I'm pretty new to MIDI, but since I recently bought a KORG Volca Keys unit, I was wondering if I could use my Toneport KB37 as the MIDI controller for this device without first going through a computer? I'm asking because in all the forums and manuals it always mentions going through a computer, and of course the kb37 does not have the MIDI DIN connector. if I get a USB-MIDI converter cable (or SPDIF-MIDI??), can I just plug the kb37 into the Volca and have it work? what kind of cable do I need, in case it needs a special cable? and, you know: just all the other silly noob questions about (this) midi setup that you can think of... ;) thanks, Eric. PS: this is a video of the KORG Volca Keys with a midi keyboard setup, I'm looking for something similar, but with the KB37 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVTm0mT53fU

Hello, I'm sharing this information because after upgrading to mac sierra and logic x 10.3 I struggled to get my kb37’s midi notes to work. Thanks to the line 6 help support and running a series of tests i hope this information can be of assistance to anyone facing this problem. Step 1. Download 7.6.4 and 7.6.5 from here - http://fr.line6.com/software/?hardware=PODxt&name=Drivers&os=Mac+OS+X&submit=Show%3A uninstall line6 first and keep kb37 disconnected from computer. Uninstall is available at applications folder -> line6 -> drivers -> line 6 driver uninstaller Step 2. install 7.6.4 and when u get the page where it says customise (bottom left hand corner), make sure the following preferences are checked for the installation (a) audio driver (b) midi driver (d) line6 twx framework Step 3. restart and make sure usb of kb37 is disconnected from computer Step 4. install 7.6.5 with following preferences checked © audio-midi Step 5. restart and make sure usb of kb37 is disconnected from computer Step 6. connect usb of kb37 to computer and it started working for me Important note: Now every time i start up the computer, i need to make sure kb37 is disconnected before i start it up for it to work. Some of my midi keys started working strangely with logic as well (some notes are playing cycle mode). If you find a better fix than this pls let me know. This is the best workaround i’ve discovered if you are having the problem where Kb37 is not working with logic pro X 10.3 on mac sierra 10.12. I understand this is the el capitan thread but maybe a similar process might work.

I am using a Line6 KB37 together with Logic X 10.0.7 (OS X 10.9.4). The KB37 (newest drivers and firmware) is my audio in- and output and midi device. Everything works fine except two keys on the KB37 which are not triggering sound (e. g. as a software instrument). It's F3 and B3. Instead of triggering sound some weird movement on the faders are happening. I can trigger those two tones without a problem drawing them into piano roll. Also GarageBand has no problems at all triggering every tone on the KB37. It clearly seems to be a Logic Pro X problem. And my Roland FP-7 masterkeyboard (also connected via USB) triggers all midi notes correctly, too. It very much seems to be a midi-misunderstanding between the KB37 and Logic, but I have no idea where I can map the KB37 correctly. Any ideas how to solve this annoying problem are more than welcome. Thanks, Marc

Hello all. I have a Toneport KB37 and recently it started doing something and i can't understand why. Here's the deal. Problem: when i plug it in via USB cable it starts working fine. If i begin playing something, the KB37 "dies", then the two clipping red lines begins blinking intermittently, then it goes back to life. If i start playing something again, the cycle repeats itself. What i have tried so far: - USB connected directly on PC (no hubs) - tested on Windows 10 and Windows 7 (both clean installs) - driver is update on both OSs - Monkey is all green lights and updated on both OSs As far as i can tell, it looks like a hardware problem on the KB37, but i can't tell for sure since i'm no expert with sound devices. I searched online and coudn't find anyone with a problem like mine. What i could find was similar issues but none helpful for my case. And finally i'm here. Does anyone have any ideas of what i could try? Anything could be very helpful. Thank you in advance. Take care.

I have a MacBook Pro 17 with an Intel Core2 Duo processor and 4 GB of RAM. I've downloaded the latest Line6 drivers and Monkey and installed both. When I run Monkey, under Device Firmware I see "USB Firmware" version is "Unknown". "Flash Memory" is also unknown. In the info box, I get this message: "This item is installed, but its version could not be determined." If I then attempt to "Update selection" in Monkey, I get this message: "Could not establish a connection to the TonePort KB37. Please check your USB connections. If the device is plugged in, try disconnecting then reconnecting the USB cable." I have done that, to no avail. I tried using a different USB cable, and got this message in the Monkey info window: "This item can only be upgraded using a USB connection. If you are currently connected using MIDI cables, please connect the USB cable and click the 'Change Device...' button, or restart Line 6 Monkey." I did that, and got the message: "There was an error communicating with your device. If it is a USB device, try disconnecting then reconnecting the USB cable. Error: (Code 80007103) Failed read from firmware." I disconnected, then reconnected again with the previous USB cable, and got the same message but with "Error: (Code 80007004) Hardware is not present." Before, when I connected the KB37, both VU meters would light up, with the needles pinned at MAX. This time, all I get is dimmed VU meters, with alternating clip lights. Any help would be appreciated. --Jack

Hello, Please excuse my ignorance, but I typically use amps and more conventional hardware. I'll get to the point and later explain further details below in case they're require to examine my problem. I'm trying to run my HD500X to my KB37, which self monitors after relaying to my PC based Ableton Live 8. I achieve good visual decibel levels, and its is loud through the headphone jack when using over ear phones, but I can't seem to effectively feed my PA monitor (Yorkville NX55P) for any offensive volume levels, I've tried using a 1/4TRS that Y's to two mono 1/4 from the headphone jack to the Line/CD jacks on the PA, and am only able to achieve fairly quiet performance, nothing that would hurt your ears. This is with the onboard mixer engaged on the PA speaker, and about 3/4 output level and phones level. I could manage no sound with two mono cables from the analog outs (KB37) to the Line/CD jacks on the PA speaker. I'm trying to use the PA speaker as an FRFR instead of my modeling spider iv 150HD, which has no stereo input or uncoloured channel. I primarily use stereo effects on my HD500X. My existing setup is as follows: Guitar>Line 6 G90 wireless>HD500X>Boss RC-300 Looper>L/R Inputs KB37>PC/Ableton Live8>KB37>Headphone amp (via analog outs on KB37) I've been using this setup for silent moonlight jams, where everyone is on headphones. For this experiment however, (understand I'm not achieving stereo yet, just trying the PA out in mono) I've disconnected the analog outs and eliminated the headphone amp. I'm wondering what I'm missing, if I need a mixer in addition to the KB37, or if I'm not sending the proper line level? signal to the PA. I figured a 550W active PA would blow me away, so far I'm missing something... Any help would be very much appreciated, Thanks for reading,

I know the forum is filled with problems and other issues so I've decided to put this up. I've decided to fool around the other day with modeling so I took the analog 1/4' L mono out from my KB37 Studio and plugged it into the FX Return of my DT50HD. After I opened up RiffWorks with Pod Farm 2.57 VST and Ableton I had a good time making some music and it sounded great. What a simple set up too. Details; I was at home so I ran the DT50 in 25W mode with the master at 50% and the FX Return at 50%. I ended up with the KB37 output at 25-30%.

Hi, My KB37 has been acting weird for the past few months. It is sending random Pitchbend and Modulation data by itself. Has anyone else faced this problem? I had contacted support. They told me to change the USB cable. But it did not work. Any suggestions? Regards, Vikram
