  1. Just wondering if anyone has tried to use the headphone out connected to a bluetooth transmitter like this: Amazon.com: Bluetooth Tranismitter Then, simply pair it up to your Bluetooth headphones and you have a cheap on-stage/rehearsal in ear monitor for yourself? Would that work?!? **EDIT** I found a solution that works for me, see my detailed reply below

XLR Left and Right Output Mismatched

Hey everyone. I recently noticed that my Helix is outputting different levels through the left and right channels. I've always run a stereo setup so I thought maybe it was the way the amp settings were so I compensated with adjusting their individual volumes. I usually run 2 amps which are hard panned. However, I recently had to setup and run a mono system so that I could have 1 signal go to the mixing desk and another signal go to my own foldback. It was here that I found the signal from the left channel is far quieter than the right channel. I had the two xlr's plugged into the helix but only plugged one into the foldback at a time. This way I could check that the signal was just being doubled onto the other channel and ready for the gig. It was here that I realised that the signal level was different. To make sure it wasn't an effect on a patch I loaded a blank patch and tested the dry signal going straight through the helix and into the foldback. This had the same result. This has me kind of stumped. I can compensate it to make do however left and right channel should be the same. I want to avoid backing everything up and doing a factory reset. I always find doing this stuffs up with my midi programming and snapshots. Has anyone experienced this before?

    Helix - Volume adjustments

Hey everyone, I find it difficult to adjust the overall output volume as I create my chain. Do you find best to start with your master output at 12 o'clock or at MAX? Pros & Cons?

    Master Volume knob

I have this firehawk fx, it was working fine... But suddenly, the master volume knob stopped working. I can change the master volume from the phone using the app but the knob is not working. I need a solution.

    HX no sound

No sound. When it's powered down, and I'm plugged in, audio passes through to the amp. When I boot up the HX, the audio cuts out once it's up and running. I didn't change any settings since my last session. Checked my cables - they are brand new, but checked them without the unit anyhow, they work. I did a factory reset. I have updated the latest firmware (2.54.0). I've only had it for a little over a month. Any suggestions?

One preset to rule them all?

Ok, so I love my amps. I own a vintage AC30, Marshall Valvestate and actually thinking about getting the Mesa Boogie TC-100. Currently, I am using a Firehawk. I am thinking of upgrading to the Helix. I play in a cover band with quite a number of people. Sometimes bigger venues, but mostly small stages. So I would be playing my amps in some cases (preferably WDW, 4/7/10 cable), but in most cases probably use FOH directly from the Helix. So here's my questions: Are the presets of the Helix much better quality than the Firehawk? Is there an easy way to create presets that would allow me to toggle between playing on my amps and FOH? (I dread creating the same presets in different banks and keeping them synched) How does WDW work when sending the signal FOH? I have both a normal mono output guitar ánd a guitar with stereo output. Is there a way to use three input signals? Or do I have to use a splitter before the input? Any guidance of experienced users or Line6 would be great.

    stereo / mono question

Hello. I output signal from Helix LT via XLR L & R to my interface. I'm curious what would happen if: 1. I output only from XLR Left. What happens to the stereo effects such as stereo delay? Do the L & R channels get combined? 2. Sometimes I output XLR L & R to my interface, and then go from 1/4 L out to my guitar amp. In this case is the 1/4 L only outputting what is going out of XLR L, or do XLR out and 1/4 out function separately so that XLR L & R output as separate stereo signal, and 1/4 outputs a combined signal? Thanks.
  8. In Global Settings on the IO page I often find that while adjusting the USB input trim knob my finger accidentally moves the adjacent USB 1/2 IN Destination knob - thus sending the audio to 1/4" jacks and not the XLR outputs which are the ones currently connected to my monitors... so silence..... HELIX Firmware developers :- Please can some thought be given to how the USB trim can be adjusted without the risk of something like this happening ? Its happened many times now and is hard to track down. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/USB-1-2-IN-Destination-knob-needs-relocating-or-locking-option/920174-23508?submitted=1

    POD HD500 output noice

I am having a big problem with my HD500. The output has become extremely noisy... to the point where it's unusable. The output signal is literally about 60% noise and 40% signal. Also... it has changed all of my sounds (the names and settings appear the same on the display but the sounds are completely different and all very distorted). I'm a broke musician... I don't want to have to pay to fix this or buy a new unit if I can help it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. edit: Tried to reset and reload it... now every sound has a tape looper built in. Thanks.
  10. I have searched high and low and have not found a straightforward answer. I have an HD500x on the way and a pair of Rokit 6 G3 to pair with it. The Rokit 6's have the following inputs: Balanced XLR Balanced TRS(1/4" jack) Unbalanced RCA I believe I have read that it is preferred to use the unbalanced 1/4" output on the HD500X as the XLR output signal is low. Can I connect the 1/4" unbalanced out to the 1/4" balanced TRS on the Rokits? What cable should I be using? Or should I use a 1/4" unbalanced to RCA cable? I am so confused! Thanks for the help.

Can I change Helix "Multi" Out routing?

Hi, I'm a new Helix user and was wondering if the "Multi" Out option could be changed from the 4 (XLR, 1/4, Digital, USB) to just 2. For instance, to send audio only to XLR and Digital, or XLR and 1/4 (and leave the other outputs free for other routing). Could there be a way to mirror one output to another? If not possible, could there be a chance for a firmware update that includes more flexible routing options? Also, is there a possibility to monitor the audio coming from the "Digital" source in the headphones output? This option is not available in the HP settings. Thanks. Leo

    Mono vs. Stereo delays

Hello, I'm looking to buy a helix soon and have been constantly reading forums/watching videos. One thing I read about is mono vs. stereo delays and reverbs. I read that using a stereo delay on a mono speaker would sound bad. When I'm playing live, I will go stereo XLR to FOH and then mono line to my QSC K10 for stage sound. If I keep the same stereo patch, will it sound bad through my speaker? What's the best way to do this? Thanks!

How to collapse USB output to mono?

Hello, I have a stereo signal path that I would like to collapse to mono. When I use the 1/4 output, the signal gets collapsed automatically. However, I want the output to be set to USB and the only option I have is to make output stereo - USB 1/2, USB 3/4 etc. How can I select the output to be just USB 1, and send a collapsed mono signal through it?
  14. I'm thinking of getting a Helix LT next week to use as a 4CM FX only board with my Orange Dual Dark 50. I've been led to believe the amp has a line level tube FX loop. Would the following configuration of I/O and level settings work to maintain correct gain structure through the rig?... Guitar > Helix In Loop 1 (Inst Lvl) Send > Amp In Amp Send > Loop 2 (Line Lvl) Return Helix (Line Lvl) Out > Amp Return Thanks.

Can I use 4 output on stage?

Hey guys I have a question that confused me for a long time I don't have any stereo effect in my chain, all effect is mono. . So, I am using direct out mode XLR L out to PA Mixer And XLR R to a IEM system for myself and other members to listen to ensure my best guitar sound. and I also want to use my 1/4 out L to plug in the Amp/Cab Return as a ampflier (NOT for F.O.H.) Because I want to give the front part of audience just listen only Drums (if we don't use Amp/Cab anymore) But i heard that there is a problem that it will cause the gear break becuz of the "Ground" will be the same between 1/4 and XLR output and it will make "Electricity backfeeding" damage the console and POD HD! REALLY? Can I use 3 output or even 4 output at the same time? Can Someone help me to solve my confusion, and tell me if there's other problem not include? Thx a lot!
  16. I was playing guitar a few year ago and recently have decided to start playing again. Have ordered POD HD500X yesterday! Mainly going to play alone or with backtracks playing from phone or computer connected to POD HD500X. Maybe in future will also buy an electric piano to play together with my wife from time to time :) I'm stuck with choosing an output device to buy. I'd like to spend no more than $350. First question: combo or pair of monitors? With monitors I can get stereo sound and I heard there are some effects which use stereo, but I'm not sure I really need this... Second question: which particular model to choose in the price range? Here are some options and my thoughts about them. Please note, I didn't try any of these amplifiers and monitors. Combo amps: * Fender Mustang II V2 40-Watt 1x12-Inch, $200. Lots of good feedback on this series on reddit. Looks like plenty of people using them and are pretty happy. * Yamaha THR10, $300. I heard from a friend it has really great sound! But I'm not sure about this, is that it has amp modelling too. I'm buying HD500X, which does this job already, so I suppose I'll use "Flat" mode on the combo. Then why to pay for the rest? * Line 6 Spider IV 15 15-watt 1x8 Modeling Guitar Amplifier, $100. Great reviews and very cheap. 15 watt probably will be enough to play at home? * Line 6 Spider IV 30 30-watt 1x12 Modeling Guitar Amplifier, $200. Bigger speaker. * Marshall MG30CFX MG Series 30-Watt, $200. * Fender Champion 40, $180 * Orange Crush Pix CR35LDX 1x10" 35-Watt Combo w/FX Orange, $250. But I probably don't need any fx... * Roland CUBE-10GX 10W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp, $130 Combo amps with tubes: * Orange Micro Terror 20-Watt Head + Orange PPC108 1x8" 20-Watt Speaker Cabinet 8-ohm Orange, $100 + $150. Tube! * Vox VT20PLUS 20-Watt 1x8 Guitar Combo Amplifier, $180. Tube! * Laney Amps CUB All TUBE Series CUB 10 10-Watt 1x10 Guitar Combo Amplifier, $250. Tube! Monitors: * KRK RP5G3-NA Rokit 5 Generation 3 Powered Studio Monitor, $300 for pair. * JBL LSR305 5-inch Two-Way Powered Studio Monitor, $270 for pair. * Yamaha HS5 Powered Studio Monitor, $400 for pair with cables and stands. * Behringer Truth B1030a High-Resolution, Active 2-Way Reference Studio Monitors, $300 for pair. In my understanding these monitors are pretty a bottom line for monitors. I don't have in plans to make recordings in nearest future. I don't even have a nice table to place them on (working on a laptop). So maybe these are other reasons to buy a better combo amp, than cheap monitors. But if only a lot of guitarist who uses POD HD500X will say that using combo with all modelling power of HD500X doesn't make sense, then I'm ready to find a good place for monitors at my place :) --- So the first questions first please: combo amp or active monitors? :) Thanks in advance!

    POD HD300 Problems

I've bought my POD HD300 few years ago and it works perfectly. But recently the output seems to be malfunctioning, either plug to amp/ phone (coz when I test the tuner, it still works, input seems to be working) There's only noise when playing. I ve done the factory reset/ calibrating and it makes no changes. Any ideas to repair it?
  18. Help needed! Firmware 2.11. Brand new unit. Reason for posting is that I can't find this problem described anywhere else on the internet. Been programming on helix (using out of the box 2.01) for an upcoming tour and tech rehearsal for the last few days. Solid 8 hour sessions of tone finding, each day. Zero problems. I had my guitar in the Guitar In, L/Mono 1/4" to amp, Send 1 to Powered Monitors. Pretty standard, nothing too strenuous. Randomly, this clicking starts coming through my amp. Very quietly. Then disappears. About 10 minutes later it has overtaken the entire output board and no signal is heard from the guitar. [uPDATE: even through the USB outs... which have not been an issue for me as I only need the unit for live mainly, but worth seeing if the problem was there, too... which it is!] I've tried every combination of things to find a solution - every jack cable in every jack in and out... every xlr cable in each output... this click is everywhere and no sound is coming through from the signal chain that's loaded. I even tried updating to 2.11, which didnt work. So I tried a rollback to 2.01, 2.00... but to no avail. The click starts during the loading screen, about halfway through (time wise). It sounds like a digital sample rate mess up somewhere in the deep dark internals... Any help I would be so unbelievably grateful for!!! Thank you!

    HD500x Output options

Hi Guys, probably another beginner question if you don't mind. :) So far, I have tried the TRS (Amp mode), S/PDIF, and Phones output of my HD500x. They all sound different and I believe I have yet to dial in the best sound from them. Lately, I am inclined to try out the XLR output of my unit. My question now is, is there any significant differences in output between the S/PDIF and the XLR output? I mean, yes, one is analog and the other one is digital, but am I missing out on a significant difference in sound quality? Or am I missing out on a feature of the HD500x if I do not use the XLR output? I plan to send the XLR output to my monitor speakers via RCA input. One more question, if I use the TRS output in line mode, will it be the same sound I would get from the XLR output (minus the XLR and TRS noise cancellation feature)? Thanks in advance guys! Cheers!
  20. Hey there - I'm noticing a very considerable difference in level when connecting via the g90 vs. connecting straight to the amp. This is detrimentally increasing the noise floor and causing a great deal of squealing and feedback through the amp. I've moved things around the signal chain and tried alternatives with gain structure and am confident this is not the issue - the only variable that seems to change output level is the line 6 g90... FYI: I'm not currently utilising the 'cable tone' setting on the g90. Signal flow is - Guitar> Line 6 G90> Line 6 Pod HD500x> Amp>
  21. I apologize if this topic has already been addressed. If so, please help and direct me to the information that was discussed. Thank you! When connecting my Firehawk 1500 via the Main XLR outputs on the back to my PA system (Behringer X18 iOS Live Sound Console), I am getting a clipping sound through the PA speaker. As I play and listen simultaneously to what is coming out of the PA and what is coming out of the Firehawk 1500, the clipping sound is only coming out of the PA speaker, not coming out of the Firehawk 1500. I will say that I first experienced this issue while running a mono output from the Firehawk 1500, but there should still not be any clipping even if I run a mono output feed. I have the gain on the mixer turned down very low to where it is almost off and there is still a clipping sound. This is not a grounding issue so I do not need the Ground Lift activated. I already checked that while troubleshooting. I troubleshooted with other XLR cables; all still with the same clipping result occurring. It is not a cable issue. If anyone has had any issue similar to what I am currently dealing with and had a resolve, please let me know exactly how you solved this issue. I will answer any questions that are posed. Thank you! Charlie
  22. Hi there, Does anybody know what kind of DAC and/or amp is behind the headphone out jack on the Firehawk FX? When I connect the Firehawk to my computer via USB and play AIFF for FLAC files from iTunes, the music has much more clarity, instrument separation, and clean power than just plugging headphones straight into my iMac headphone jack. Jamming with my favorite songs is a very high sound quality experience. I use Sennheiser HD598 headphones, so that helps. Because the result it similar to using a dedicated USB DAC/headphone amp combo, I just wondered what's in the Firehawk that makes it sound so good. Anybody know? Or is that a trade secret?
  23. Hi all, I've just upgraded from Amplifi 150 to FH1500 so I'm not too sure about the input/outputs yet. One reason I upgraded was that I could play both electric and acoustic through the amp. I'm not the sound man in the band and the one that is isn't too happy about line6 but I am. Question; can I plug both electric and acoustic in at the same time? I have an Acoustic with XLR out and a Variax Standard connected with a Line6 G10 so which inputs would I use. That might sound a bit basic, but it would really help if anyone could help. Line 6, user manuals would really help. Stew

Output routing - best of both worlds?

I apologize if this was asked previously elsewhere. I tried perusing the manuals and searching the forums... For the last 4 years, I have been using Guitar Rig with Rig Kontrol live. Honestly, I might still be a happy user if NI would keep their products up-to-date and not discontinue their hardware. I can't do a live show anymore without experiencing bad audio drop-outs and worse. Time to ditch and look elsewhere... One of the cool things I was able to do with GR, however, was route speaker simulation (cab sim, etc.) to ONLY one side of the outputs. My common setup was to run the output with NO cab sim to my on-stage amp, and the output with the cab sim ON to the DI/PA system. The tones were just a little off from each other, but my stage amp has V30's, and so I'd run the V30 cab sim for the house line, and with a little EQ, I was a pretty happy camper. This became the better option, rather than A) Mic'ing the stage cab for the house feed (not a fan), and B] Running the cab sim ON to my amp signal (Redundant yuck.), or C) Using NO cab sim (horrible shrill line out). So obviously, that's my question. Can you, somehow, route the outputs on the HD500X in such a way where the speaker simulation is running to, say, the Balanced XLR output(s) - meanwhile the 1/4" amp outputs disengage any cab sim? Or...is there another option/configuration I'm not aware of that addresses this issue? Thanks for the help!

    Reaper/Windows Question

I've been using Reaper for years on a Mac without much of a problem. However, recently I switched over to a PC and I'm having trouble getting my POD HD500x's output to come through the computer built in output. It was very easy on a Mac, but I'm having trouble making it happen on WIndows 10. I don't want the audio to output to the POD, I want to hear it through the speakers.
