  2. Deutsche Version Version française Please go through the following checklist before updating the flash memory of your Variax guitar to ensure the update completes successfully: Ensure that the interface you are using to update the Variax with (Workbench Interface, PODxt Live/Pro, POD X3 Live/Pro, POD HD500/HD Pro, Vetta II) isNOT connected to the computer through a USB hub. Make sure to connect the interface into a USB port directly into the computer, especially into the back of a desktop. If problems persist, make sure to test all of the USB ports on the computer. Avoid plugging into USB ports found on keyboards, monitors, or laptop docks. [*]When using the Workbench Interface to update or edit the Variax guitar, ensure that a charged battery is in the guitar and a 1/4" TS mono cable is inserted into the guitar's output jack, or that the stereo TRS cable is plugged into the Variax providing power from the XPS power supply to power on the guitar. [*]On a James Tyler Variax guitar, ensure that the Volume knob on the guitar is NOT set to the '0' position as it will put the guitar into Power Save Mode. Make sure that the Volume knob is set higher than 0 when updating or editing the JTV guitar. [*]Please use the VDI Cable that comes with the JTV guitar when updating the flash memory on that guitar. Avoid using VDI or CAT5 cables longer than 10 ft. in length when updating any Variax guitar. [*]During the update, select 'NO' when asked if you would like to keep the presets on the guitar. Use the Workbench software to back up your guitar presets before updating if you would like to keep them. [*]Close out any other applications running on your computer before updating the Variax guitar. Q: How do I update or re-install the flash memory on my Variax Electric 300, 500, 600, 700, James Tyler Variax, and Shuriken guitars? A: These instruments can only be returned to factory reset by reinstalling the flash memory. You will need to connect your Variax to the workbench software using your Variax enabled hardware (i.e. Variax Hardware interface, POD XT/X3 Live, POD X3 Pro, VETTA with VDI, or POD HD500), then you will have to connect your interface to your computer via USB. Once the guitar and interface are connected to the computer, you will need to run Line 6 Monkey. See the following link for more information on connecting your device to your computer and installing Line 6 Monkey: Line 6 Monkey Installation and F.A.Q. USB Connectivity with Line 6 Devices Once you have Monkey installed and your computer is recognizing the connection, see the screen shots for the reflash procedure: 1) Once you run Line 6 Monkey, Monkey may ask you to register. If you do not wish to register (or have already registered) select "remind me later". 2) If you want to reinstall the factory presets (or update the firmware), select "Flash Memory" the select "Reinstall Latest" 3) Select "OK" to agree to the software license 4) Select "yes" or "no" If you want to keep the patches on the instrument 5) Select "Yes" to continue with the update. Can't load IR's Out of memory error

I am unable to load IRs through HX Edit. Either importing or drag and drop gives the following error: Failed to import one or more impulses. (Out of memory condition. [code-2] Anyone else have this issue?
  6. I have an POD XT which when plugged into Monkey via USB, the software stated I needed up upgrade the Flash to 3.1. I clicked to update but the process seemed to take an extrodinary long time to complete and during the process, I noted that the screen of the Pod had 'Error Code 02' dispalyed. I reset the Pod as requested but as soon as the screen turned on, I got 'ERROR CODE 02'. I tried all the buttons, tried turning dials and nothing had no effect. On research, I found that Error Code 02 relates to an issue with the Flash Memory. It seems to be a common issue that Monkey updating the Pod can corrupt the Flash, making the Pod useless. I tried putting the Pod in safe mode using the 'Save' / 'Edit' keys which did nothing. I tried safe mode using the most left black square button, again nothing. I tried the second black square button which put the Pod into another safe mode which checked the memory, this test passed. On the Monkey, the Flash was greyed out and I couldn't update it. It recognised the Pod connected via USB but couldn't establish the connection. I tried different USB cables, different USB slots, even another power supply and got nothing but the Error Code 02 on the screen. ** SOLUTION ** On a side line building up my rig, I had purchased a second hand Edirol UM-1SX which is an old fashioned Midi USB interface box, which I was going to use with my keyboard. I'd also just purchased a couple of brand new Roland Midi Cables. Once I setup the Edirol UM-1SX with my computer, the Pod XT was recognised by Monkey. I set this up by NOT using the USB cable but just connecting the Pod via the Midi Cables via the UM-1SX. Just an important point with MIDI cables, Computer Out = Pod In and Computer In = Pod Out. Now the Pod was connected to the Computer, Flash was able to update via Midi and installed to the latest Flash 3.1. Once installed and turned the Pod off and on again, I disconnected the Midi cables and connected the Pod via the USB to use Line 6 Edit. From here, no problems in editing and installing my tones. Happy days, broken Pod to working Pod. Hope this helps.
  7. Hey guys, New Helix LT owner here (still withing return period), been hd500x user for years. Here is my problem. This is how I used to operate Hd500x: I would setup my presets (doesn't matter what's inside really), balance the levels to my liking, and then add a volume block at the end of each preset tied to expression pedal. This way I had sort of a master volume on my HD no matter which preset I am in. I knew that if I need to dial myself down, I will still be in balance volume-wise once I jump to another preset. Now with Helix, It seems to totally ignore the fact that I have set EXP1 and EXP2 position set to be Global, and when I switch between presets, it sets volume block pedal position to whatever it was when I saved it. IT DOESN'T apply the actual position of the pedal upon switching between presets. What do I do here? I MUST be able to control my overall unit level, and it just worked on HD500x. FYI, before I created any sounds on it, I went ahead and upgraded to 2.21 software, so all my patches are "native" 2.21. Am I missing something here? LOVE the unit, but this is becoming a showstopper. Giant volume jumps when going from preset to preset, not usable. Any help and tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

HD 500 stuck on driver 4.2.5.1

I have tried and re-tried but can't seem to get this done. My laptop runs win7. I've got Monkey at 1.71, updated the USB firmware to 1.04, re-booted both POD and laptop ad nauseum, even turned off my Norton... but whenever Monkey tries to update the FW, it thinks it's successful yet shows the driver at 4.2.5.1. My goal is to get my hd500 from 2.32 to 2.62, but I don't want to even attempt this if I can't even get the drivers to update. Anybody got any ideas? Also, when updating the POD Flash Memory, am I supposed to hold down a nav button and power it on somewhere in the process? THANKS (in advance)!
  9. Good afternoon, I'm a proud owner of a PODxt Live for many years; It worked like a charm until a few weeks ago. Starting from the beginning, a year ago I broke the USB connector; Almost a month ago I decided to finally fix the USB port, so I changed the connector to a new one (I'm experienced with electronics), when I turned on the POD to try out the new USB connector, the POD simply wouldn't start; It flashed all the LED's and maintained them on, a brick with lights basically. The USB works just fine, I can access to the POD via PC but the Flash Memory is just not accessible; I checked every internal part on the POD, all the values are normal and nothing seems to be "broken". Is it possible that anyone can get me the Flash Memory full dump file of a PODxt Live so I can reprogram mine? Sorry for my bad English, Best Regards.
  10. Hello, I recently bought a FBV Shortboard MKII to go with my Spider IV 120. I've connected up to my laptop using the correct cables with the intention of updating the firmware and using Spider Online. However, I downloaded Monkey and tried to update the Flash Memory update for the amp. Every single time I try, I get the following message. "Spider IV 120 update failed. (Code 8000000A) An undefined error occurred. Try the update again making sure the cables are still connected." Now I can't use the amp at all, as it's stuck on a menu saying "Ready to Update." I also cannot seem to factory reset the amp at all. I really don't know what to do. PLEASE help anyone?! :(
