  1. I am using it with bass, My previous main processor was the Zoom B3n and various single effects pedals.I have only had the Stomp a few weeks despite some short-comings its here to stay. Comparison: Size goes to Stomp. Front panel on the fly edit goes to Zoom ,preset to stomp mode to tuner easier on Zoom. Amp models goes to Stomp (EBS 360 in Zoom was great too!) and the addition of IR's which Zoom does not have. Got some great IR's on the net to fill out the Stomp. Midi and routing, interface goes to Stomp ,Zoom doesn't have it! Eq/dynamics...about equal, a few preferred on the Zoom though, (Dual comp,ZNR) OD/distortion- not a big user of dirt but both Stomp and Zoom are Ok (I have a Source Audio aftershock-better than both) Pitch/Filter definitely goes to to Stomp. The single, dual pitch and EBS Octobass are all good. Filters go to Stomp The synth models are better than Zoom in many ways ,(lots of room for improvement though) Delays are about equal. Modulation also equal, though Zoom since its a "bass" processor seems out-of -the box better, less tweaking. Reverb I would say goes to Zoom. To me they sound deeper and richer perhaps again due to Zoom being geared at bass. It doesn't seem likely but the HX reverbs seem thin (running mono, but did on the Zoom too). Since I am a bassist only light use anyway. Looper..not a big user but i think Zoom has longer loop times. (and along with the drum machine doesn't count in # of effects) Less important but convenient...Zoom has a metronome/drum track and a dedicated 1/8 aux input for mp3 player, etc. Most surprising: The Stomp synth stuff. Created quite a few patches. Not great for dedicated classic bass synth patches, but got some great sounds/layers, even faux brass and sax. Disappointments: Lack of dedicated "bass" effects. This saves on tweaking/EQ etc. I actually know more bassists using Stomp than guitarists! 3 note generator and 4 voice synth...just a drone???? The 6 block thing????? Why wouldn't it have the same as the LT if using the same chip? I could live with it easily if send/returns didn't count as a block..Who thought that was a good idea? Update process...following directions crashed at both updates 2.91 and 2.92... scary for new user! Another main reason for changing: Support! Line 6 seems to support their products with updates and ideascale. I had contacted Zoom many times about updates, looks like they abandoned the B3n already. I think the next HX update(3.0) will remove some of the disappoinment issues...at least two more blocks for send/return and Command center functions if I heard that right. (after all got Stomp to run in midi setup) Hopefully, more octave/filter/synth models and more modern bass amps/cabs (More GK,Hartke,EBS models) Still, fun to re-create some of my old classic bass amps with the ones in the Stomp, but bring on the new! With expanded features I expect the Stomp to shrink my pedalboard. If i could do without some of my single pedals I might go for a an LT...wish it was smaller though Just curious on other users view and insights. Thanks.
  2. Hello, guys! So, I'm thinking of buying an HX Stomp because I have 2 tube amps that I hate to take them up and down because of their weight and how troublesome it is. Even though I love their sound, I think its time they seat at the studio a bit more haha Anyway, I have a pedalboard that is controlled via a mastermind pbc. Here is what I want to do: Have my drives in the mono loops of the PBC. My first stereo loop of the PBC would go to the hx and then back into the mastermind. Then my next stereo loops would be timeline -> big sky -> wet My only usage for the HX would be amp simulation really. So, with all that being said, I know the hx stomp has the ability to output instrument lvl, but could I plug from the wet (last pedal in the chain) directly into a PA? I know the hx has a loop, but im not sure how I could keep my 3 effect pedals in the hx loop and also in the mastermind loop (so I could turn their loop on and off via the PBC). Maybe this is possible? I know I could make the HX stomp last on the board and make it output line level, but being able to have those effects after the amp sim would be really nice since thats what I like to do with my FX loop. Thanks already for the help and sorry if this is obvious.
  3. Hello, I am new to Helix and have learned a ton the past 2 months reading all the wisdom on this forum. Thank you! I would like to have a Footswitch assigned to modify 2 parameters on an Amp Block. In this case I wish to INCREASE the Drive parameter and DECREASE the Channel Volume to create a CRUNCH-like footswitch while maintaining consistent volume levels. In working with assigning multiple parameters to a footswitch, it seems that it can only toggle ALL the parameters to the Max value at one time then ALL of them back to the MIN value at one time; not one to Max while the other to Min. I understand that this may be easily doable with Snapshots, however I am still figuring out how that might fit into my live gigs based on the diversity of situations I am in given I have grown up used to stomp boxes. I will get there for sure as I know they are powerful. For now, I appreciate understanding if what I would like to do is possible with footswitches in stomp mode.
  4. In my past I managed to achieve a really nice distorted tone with the POD Screamer. Recently I tried to recreate that tone with real pedals and noticed that it sounded nothing like that which shouldn't be a suprise because the Pod-Screamer has Bass and Treble controls which the real Tube Screamer doesn't have. So what exactly is the real model of the POD-Screamer? The only thing I found with Bass and Treble controls is the ''Boss ODB-3 Bass OverDrive'', ''Ibanez TSB9'' and a Behringer-Copy of the Boss. I wouldn't mind buying one of these pedals but I don't really know if they do the same as the POD-Screamer since they're all bass pedals. Any experiences or suggestions (except buying and trying :D) ?
  5. Hi dudes, I’ve just purchased an Hx stomp and have had it running successfully with the 4CM with my Rc-30 looper in the chain. I would like to use the direct in method so I can make use of the Helix’s preamp settings instead of my Katana but I cant seem to integrate my looper into the mix as they both need to be connected to the return on my effect loop to work. I know it probably is something so simple and minor to remedy but my brain for some reason has left the building. Please someone help me before I explode
  6. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/HXStompSW--line-6-hx-stomp-guitar-multi-effects-floor-processor-stomptrooper-white Looks pretty nice!
  7. I made a dual expression knob controller for my Stomp. Both potentiometers are 10k linear, lug one is connected to tip/ring (one for each pot) and lugs 2 & 3 are connected to ground. When hooked up to the Stomp, the stomp reads 100% at about the 2 o’clock position, and when I went to the “Learn” setting, it reaches 100% at about the 4 o’clock position, but still not at the full rotation. So essentially, the Learn setting did something, but it seems like the Stomp still isn’t using the full rotation of the knob. The last 15% or so of the knob doesn’t do anything. Did I wire the pot correctly or do I have the right pot value? Or is there a calibration setting that I don’t have right?
  8. Hi Guys!, this is more like a little rant. I´ve been wandering in the custom tone catalog for the HX Stomp and found that those 802 tones are not that real in numbers... I see lots of repeated tones I mean, the same tone, same name, same authors; the exact same tone repeated a lot of times. For example, I´ve been seeing this "Mayer'ishStomp" from jaysadites repeated at least 1 time in every page for about 8 + pages. I´m not saying the user is spamming, but we clearly need some maintenance on the database to remove duplicates. Have you seen duplicates too? Regards
  9. Hi there, I'm trying to record my guitar using my macbook, audacity, and of course my HX Stomp. I read that no driver is required on Mac if I'm using 48Khz sample rate, so I simply plugged the stomp into the macbook and, indeed, it is detected by the system. But so far, I have not been able to get any sound from the usb audio interface. I set the HX stomp as recording device from the Audio MIDI Setup application, but I can't set master volume nor channels volume Yet, I tried to selected the proper interface and channel (1) in Audacity and expected a miracle : But of course I have a flat line. So is there something I missed (the audio output knob on the stomp is set at max) Many thanks !
  10. Hi all, probably there already is a similar topic already here, but I could not find something specific. I want to get a little amp for home to connect my Stomp Hx to. In the rehearsal room I use a Line 6 Spider Valve 112, and connect directly into the Power Amp section. At home it is just to sometimes play a bit louder, alone, or together with my girlfriend who plays cello, so not to compete with a complete band. Just a bit louder than standard indoor room volume. And the sound should be good of course ;) Does anyone have any good recommendations? I tried a Roland MicroCube, that worked, but the sound was really really crappy. Ideas I have so far are: Transistor: https://www.thomann.de/de/marshall_mg10g.htm Transistor: https://www.thomann.de/de/marshall_mg15g.htm Valve: https://www.thomann.de/de/laney_cub8.htm Active Speaker: https://www.thomann.de/de/fun_generation_pl_108_a.htm So long, Kalle
  11. Hello, bought a brand new HX Stomp. It won't connect to my pc (Windows 7 x64). Problems found: - USB Audio Device has a driver problem. - HX Stomp doesn't have a driver. Are the driver available for download somewhere? None of the software provided, in the Downloads section of Line6's webpage, are able to "see" my HX Stomp.
  12. Hello everyone, I'm a new HX Stomp user but with many years using Kemper, POD's and many other ones through time... I had to sold my Kemper and I get the Stomp so I had to redone all my MIDI stuff on my band's Live Cubase Project. With Kemper, we had everything programmed on MIDI (Preset changes and Tunner On/Off) so we can´t have to touch anything during the show. But these days programming the Stomp MIDI line, I have so many problems with the Tunner. I know there is a CC to activate/deactivate it, but I have this problem: I write that CC on the MIDI track during the time I have to tune my bass, and when the CC ends it turns off by itself (Well), the problem is that if I stop the project in some moment, the Tunner turns on magically without any CC writed in that point. I tried so many ways : Writing the CC on the MIDI track, Writing a note and using the Cubase MIDI plugin "Note to CC", searching some MIDI option which sends some extrange msg on project stops... But I cant control it, its lollipoping crazy haha... Anybody could help me? BTW, it could be so nice, to implement some kind of improvement in this fact on future firmwares (I liked so much the Kemper's way to activate tunner, just sending Vol value to 0, for example), or giving a certain note value to Tunner, or whatever... But please, I don't want to be running on stage to activate/deactivate it hahaha... Thanks everybody!
  13. Scenario: I have my Focusrite audio interface setup as my In/Out device Audio settings. I have my HX Stomp connected to the Mac via USB. I do not want to use the Stomp as an audio interface. So, I turn on the Focusrite, launch Logic, all is good. The Focusrite shows up under Audio device as my in/out. However, when I turn on the Stomp, Logic “grabs” it and makes it my Audio device. I can’t find a way to stop logic from recognizing the Stomp as the Audio device. I would like to use HX Edit with the Stomp, but not have it be my audio device. Current work around is to unplug the USB cable and only plug it in when I need it. But it just seems that there must be a way to stop Logic from using it as an Audio device but still allow HX Edit to be usable with the Stomp. many help would be greatly appreciated. Mac using Catalina and current Logic Pro. Stomp is current firmware.
  14. Couple quick questions on controller assignment. I understand how to assign multiple blocks to one controller and cycle through them. However, let’s say I want to use one controller to cycle from a phase block, to flange and then a 3rd press to bypass both completely? How would this be done? Second question. When toggling /cycling through the block assignments on any given controller, the name of the block doesn’t change. Is there a way for the name to change to whatever block it switches to?
  15. I tried to create an Adam Jones Sound with the HX Stomp FW Version 2.82. Adam plays a Marshall 100W Plexi and 2 Diezel VH4's. I chose a split and added a Marshall Plexi (Brit Plexi Nrm) with a German Ubersonic in parallel (Amp+C in both cases), see attached Screenshot. First, I was really impressed by the sound itself. I thought "great, now I only need a booster, Flanger and Delay and I'm done. Well, no. All effects/blocks are grayed out and I can't select them. Why???????????
  16. Can I use one tap/tempo external switch (Boss FS-5U) to control more than one time-based effect at a time ? Case and point : I would like to set the tremolo's rate/speed and the delay's time/BPM simultaneously.
  17. Hi trying to replicate a DD-3 stutter effect, as shown below. Any advice? I’ve found that the pedal seems to retain previous feedback when i cut it on, off, and on again, so while I might get a good start towards this sound the first time, it progressively turns to chaos as I try it more than once, due to the feedback from previous tries sticking around.
  18. I have a 2018 Macbook Pro and up until about 2 weeks ago, the DAW I use and HX edit doesn't recognize my HX Stomp. Is this likely because of a problem with Catalina? If so, when will it be fixed? Anyone else experiencing this problem?
  19. Hi All, I bought a Stomp and it came w firmware 2.65. I did the upgrade - all seems fine Except all the Preset Names disappeared. Seems like the presets are still there, they just have no names. Did I do something wrong? Anyway to fix or get a list? TIA!
  20. Hey Guys! I got my hands on an HX Stomp and today we are going to run through how to get up and running using it as your audio interface on a Windows 10 PC and with Presonus Studio One 4.0 I walk you through setup and how to record the processed guitar as well as the DI or, Direct Input so that you can reamp at a later time.

  22. Hey Guys, Today we are going over the tone I created using the Line 6 HX Stomp using Ownhammer Impulse Responses. I go over each block, which IR I use as well as how to create snapshots so that you can use this tone as your main rhythm tone as well as a lead tone. If you have any questions, leave them down below and I'll do my best to help you out. Thanks again for all the support. 24. Hello I'm very new to mutlieffects processors and need some clarification on it's capabilities. I love user made presets and I see the helix has a sizeable collection of artists I really like. The hxstomp has some but not nearly as many. I know the stomp supports 8 blocks in the chain and the helix a few more but, as long as the signal chain is under 8, would I be able to pretty much replicate any user preset that was made for the full helix? Idk if the answer is obvious but I'd like some help from you guys. Thanks if you help out.
  25. Hi, After I updated firmware on my Stomp (from 2.65 I think to the newest) the tuner has been acting up. Every time I hit a string, the tuner jumps to a D for a split second. If I let the string ring out it stays on the right note, so seems it only happens when I hit the string. Doesn't matter which note I play, the tuner jumps to a D. Anyone else experienced this?
