  1. Hi, Is there a way to use a real amp head in the signal flow of a HX stomp such that the cabinet is emulated by the HX and the real amp make no noise other than in my headset ? I live in an appartement in NYC and I can only play with headphones. So I was wondering if I could send the signal to a JCM 800 (main input from hx fx send and jcm cabinet output to hx fx return. Is there a risk of blowing up the Hx ?
  2. Hello. I bought a new HX Stomp XL a few weeks back. I updated firmware to 3.15. What I noticed first is that my factory built presets do not have friendly names, like with "DIR" prefix in the name. I see all named like preset1, preset2, .. Is there a way to get factory list of presets that I can import to my Stomp XL? Thanks.
  3. Is there a way to change the preset while the tuner is on? Live, between 2 songs, I switch the tuner on and would like to change the preset while the sound is muted in the tuner mode. But I can't find a way to do this...
  4. Hello, bought a brand new HX Stomp. It won't connect to my pc (Windows 7 x64). Problems found: - USB Audio Device has a driver problem. - HX Stomp doesn't have a driver. Are the driver available for download somewhere? None of the software provided, in the Downloads section of Line6's webpage, are able to "see" my HX Stomp.
  5. How can I clear/delete all the Stomp XL presets without having to do it one preset at a time, either in HX Edit on using the pedal itself?
  6. Hi I just bought a stomp xl and wanna run it off my powered pedal board and I’m wondering if I need to use the adapter that came with it or can I use and “I-spot” “power all” “daisy chain” etc. Please help.
  7. So it’s just… HX Stomp, but with more touch footswitches and all the jacks on the back? For $150 more? Yes. …Why? Because customers asked for more switches. Or kept finding clever—but way less elegant or integrated—ways to add more switches. And it was relatively easy. We’re not going to pretend it’s the most innovative product we’ve ever designed but for some customers, it’s the goldilocks form factor. Thanks, but my personal needs require a Variax input, twice the DSP, and six switches, not eight. Why didn’t you give me exactly what I want? <exasperated sigh> So it’s like the size of two HX Stomps? If you omit the space required for jacks on the side (even pancake jacks), more like 1-2/3 Stomps. It’s 12.5” wide (vs. HX Stomp’s 7” width). Depth and height are virtually identical. Does it add anything else? Hands-free Pedal Edit mode (tweak presets with your feet), 128 presets vs.126, four snapshots per preset vs. three, and you can access the 6 Switch Looper without needing a MIDI controller. Other than that, it is HX Stomp with 5 extra switches. Does it have the Command Center? Absolutely. In fact, a big reason HX Stomp got the Command Center in 3.0 is because we had already done the work for HX Stomp XL. Wait, what happened to the Volume knob? We moved it to the back panel to save room. It’s spring loaded so you can recess it into the chassis to keep your cables from accidentally turning it. Can I use third-party power supplies? Yes. Any power supply that works with HX Stomp should work fine with HX Stomp XL. Can it load HX Stomp presets? Yep, just drag ‘em in via HX Edit. It can also load Helix, Helix Rack+Control, Helix LT, Helix Native, and HX Effects presets, as long as they contain 8 or fewer blocks on a single DSP path. What are the reset options? Hold these button combinations while powering up the HX Stomp XL: 1. FS ^, C & D: clears all presets/IRs 2. FS ^+C: resets presets and IRs 3. FS C+D: factory restore (globals, presets, IRs) 4. Page >: Update mode. This update mode is helpful if the update is interrupted, and the HX Stomp will not boot properly. You will see a blank screen (no visual feedback on the display). 5. Upper & Lower Knobs: Rebuild presets. Wait for "Will Rebuild Presets..." to appear and let go. Can backup files be exported/imported between HX Stomp and HX Stomp XL? No, the backup file is not compatible across HX Stomp and Stomp XL. If you would like to move your presets, IRs, etc. You would need to manually export the individual files and import them into the other device. You can also connect both devices to HX Edit simultaneously and then drag and drop the files across HX Edit windows. Both versions of HX Stomp or HX Stomp XL should be on the same firmware version for dragging and dropping to function.
  8. How about folks, I am very interested in getting an HX Stomp, I use the HX Effects and it is a blast. Currently I use a MOOER Preamp Live in a 4CM configuration in my amplifier, I use this configuration since I exchange the emulation of the mooer's amps with that of my real amplifier, it is an interesting function that is removed by the mooer since it allows me in some songs to use the effects of my real amplifier and in others use only the power stage of my amplifier and use the emulation of mooer amps changing preset, in their documentation they explain it as two FX Loop modes one called A / B and the other serial, when i use A / B mode emulation is disabled and real amp is on. Page 16 https://v1.cecdn.yun300.cn/fsite_1804040320%2FPreamp live_Manual_EN1552881468849.pdf I would like to know if there is a way or method that the helix stomp achieves this since I did not see something mentioned in your manual, I do not know if someone knows how to do it or it is not possible.
  9. Hi! I'm a new bass HX Stomp user and i wanted to use this beast like a no pc Guitar Rig. But i have some trouble to find some good tones for the style i want to use it with! I play various modern style of music like lofi hip hop, futur house and overall electro style, so when i use Guitar rig, i surch for weird effects preset and adjust with what i need... i use a lot of Octaver(oc2 for that), Bit crusher, phaser, stereo... But when a go through the HX, i don't find much of good starting point to go in the direction i want... I know that those type of pedals are usualy used by "rock" musicians so there is millions of good thing for that style, but i'm afraid i really have to dig a long time to find my way... :s So i wanted to know if you knew some place where people share thoses kind of presets... or at least a forum where people exchange there presets! Thank a lot !
  10. Hi I've connected my HX Effects to my HX Stomp and its working great. However, using the HX effects as the MIDI controller, I want to press a preset on the Effects and change the preset on the Stomp at the same time. What happens when I press the footswitch on the Effects is it changes the Stomp to a 'default' preset. If I press the switch again it changes it to the preset I have set as an 'instant' in the command center. It feels like I missing something obvious. I have turned off TX MIDI clock in the Effects global setting. Can anyone offer any advice? many Thanks
  11. Hello, I am trying to re-amp a dry signal recorded on GarageBand with the HX Stomp. I understand that Garageband output and input must be set to HX stomp, the dry signal send to output HX Stomp via USB 5-6 and the re-amp will be recorded on HX Stomp USB channel 1-2. I set all that. I have also changed the input of the HX flow to USB 5-6 as per explained in the manual (circle before the first block on the stomp itself) Here is my issue, the sound comes from GB (I can hear the dry guitar in the headset plugged into the HX stomp - only the usb is hooked to GB) but it doesn't sound like the signal is passed to the effects chain (no parallel split in my chain). Nothing is getting back to GB and again the sound in the headset is the dry sound. I found several videos explaining the output of the dry should be set to USB 5-6 but GB doesn't let you select that (I can only select HX stomp). Is there a way to do it? Any idea what could be set improperly ? Has anyone had any luck reamping with Garageband and HX stomp ? Thanks for your help Pat.
  12. Hi, Is it possible to set the footswitch mode per preset? For instance say I have snapshot-mode in preset 1 and when switching to preset 2 it has stomp mode. In other words: will the footswitch mode be saved in the preset itself? Is that possible?
  13. Hey guys! Abolutely loving 3.0 so far. I have a MIDI related question that hopefully somebody can help me with. I am running my HX Stomp with a Specular Tempus and am having some problems getting it to communicate. The tap tempo is working fine from the Stomp but is it possible to programme it to do this: - Snapshot 1 in my stomp uses patch A in Tempus - Snapshot 2 in my stomp also uses patch A in Tempus - Snapshot 3 in my stomp switches to patch B in Tempus I don't want to change bank on the tempus - I just want it to change to patch B from A when I hit footswitch 3 (snapshot 3) and vice versa. I seem to have tried everything including the new command center but can't seem to get it to work. Is this doable?
  14. Im new to Helix, and will like to set up my Helix Control (and rack) so I can toggle between snapshot mode and stomp mode on the FS6 on the Helix control. At the moment I only have the option to toggle between stomp and preset mode. I can enter the snapshot mode by pressing both bank button at once, but then I can not toggle back to Stomp mode. And here a wishing list, that might not be possible: 1. is it possible to assign 2x8 blocks to the stomp mode, giving me the possibility to toggle between the first 8 and the second 8 bloks with, say, the "bank buttons" 2. is there any way to use the two Bank buttons for other use than Bank up and down?
  15. Updated HX Stomp firmware today after quite a while of inactivity. Now for some reason buttons Home/view and back page not working. Cant get into menu/global/mode settings etc from unit. Everything works fine using HX Edit. Tried the obvious rolling back to previous firmware/global reset etc without any luck. Anyone having a solve would be greatly appreciated.
  16. Hi there, I'm trying to record my guitar using my macbook, audacity, and of course my HX Stomp. I read that no driver is required on Mac if I'm using 48Khz sample rate, so I simply plugged the stomp into the macbook and, indeed, it is detected by the system. But so far, I have not been able to get any sound from the usb audio interface. I set the HX stomp as recording device from the Audio MIDI Setup application, but I can't set master volume nor channels volume Yet, I tried to selected the proper interface and channel (1) in Audacity and expected a miracle : But of course I have a flat line. So is there something I missed (the audio output knob on the stomp is set at max) Many thanks !
  17. Hi guys... Firstly, the problem I am having has only happened since I updated to Helix 3.0. So - when I load a new preset and go to snapshot mode, as soon as I press a footswitch for an alternative snapshot, I get the small 'E' icon which suggests I have edited something. any further switching of snapshots doesn't help and the snapshots do not default back to the original settings. Yet, when I go out of the preset and come back into it and go back into snapshot mode again, the 'E' has gone but returns as soon as I hit a footswitch. I have seen other users are experiencing the same issue. Please help with this problem - Thanks
  18. hi there - looking for some help on snapshots on the HX Stomp as I can't tell what I'm doing wrong! I've saved a preset with 3 snapshots (see first image). It looks & sounds fine. IMG_3334.HEIC But when I change to snapshot 2, I see a little "E" appear by the preset's name indicating something has changed (image 2). I don't see this happen in online demos. I've read the manual and watched a couple of YouTube videos but feel like I'm missing some setting somewhere. Any suggestions/help very welcome! IMG_3333.HEIC
  19. I was probably too hasty! I use MacOS Big Sur and HX Stomp 3.0. And there are some problems. Worst of all I find that changes in the snapshots' block values are not kept. I have set "discard" and are saving after every change of a value. When changing the snapshots the value jumps back to the old value. Is this because of the combination of 3.0 with Big Sur?
  20. Helix: https://shop.line6.com/marketplace/satch-style-with-ir-for-helix.html POD Go: https://shop.line6.com/marketplace/satch-style-with-ir-for-pod-go.html HX Stomp: https://shop.line6.com/marketplace/satch-style-with-ir-for-hx-stomp.html The Satch tones are done for all three platforms and live in Marketplace at the links above! I started playing guitar in 1989 just a few months before Flying in a Blue Dream was released. I was reading all the guitar magazines at that time and Satch was on the cover of every single one! Surfing with the Alien was the first tab book I bought at the local music store. I can't really play anything like Satch but he was such an inspiration to me that I certainly spent many hours trying! This history is why it was such a special set of tones for me to work on.
  21. Hello everyone, I have a problem with my HX Stomp. I bought it 6 months ago and been using it as both audio interface or plugged into my scarlett ever since. I'm really satisified. Lately, I decided to use it as an effect stomp in front of a tube amp (effects only, no amp or IRs) or straight into the PA. All I got from these two scenarios was disturbing noise and no sound. The routing signal has always been: guitar - jack cable - Hx stomp - jack cable coming out of the L/mono main output - Amp or PA. Nothing worked. Needless to say, I checked all the cables I used and they're all good, I used 4 different amps, 3 PAs. Has anyone ever experienced something similar? PS: as audio interface or in front of my Scarlett (L/mono output to interface preamp) works very well. Thanks so much! Love to all
  22. Hi there, My fitst appearence here, so be kind to me:) Since a few weeks u have an HX Stomp on my pedalboard, fantastic machine! But since 2 weeks it doesn’t send out a stereo signal anymore. I use my pedalboard/HX Stomp at our local church, since the first moment i had it, i played stereo, by the usual way to put 2 jacks on the left+right output of the stomp. Nothing special so far. But since 2 weeks the sound guys @ the FOH (front of house) tell me that they don’t recieve a signal from the right output. Tried multiple jacks, switched between the left and right output, tried different DI’s, but no signal... I checked/compared some base settings with the HX Stomp of a friend, and those were no different. I use my gear very carefully, so i can truly say that i didn’t broke anything... it is only a few weeks old, it’s the limited white version, so i juist can’t believe it broke by itself... is there something in the settings that i forgot, or something else i didn’t think of? Hopefully there are some folks that can help me or send me in the right direction to solve this problem! thnx. Pieter
  23. I am using it with bass, My previous main processor was the Zoom B3n and various single effects pedals.I have only had the Stomp a few weeks despite some short-comings its here to stay. Comparison: Size goes to Stomp. Front panel on the fly edit goes to Zoom ,preset to stomp mode to tuner easier on Zoom. Amp models goes to Stomp (EBS 360 in Zoom was great too!) and the addition of IR's which Zoom does not have. Got some great IR's on the net to fill out the Stomp. Midi and routing, interface goes to Stomp ,Zoom doesn't have it! Eq/dynamics...about equal, a few preferred on the Zoom though, (Dual comp,ZNR) OD/distortion- not a big user of dirt but both Stomp and Zoom are Ok (I have a Source Audio aftershock-better than both) Pitch/Filter definitely goes to to Stomp. The single, dual pitch and EBS Octobass are all good. Filters go to Stomp The synth models are better than Zoom in many ways ,(lots of room for improvement though) Delays are about equal. Modulation also equal, though Zoom since its a "bass" processor seems out-of -the box better, less tweaking. Reverb I would say goes to Zoom. To me they sound deeper and richer perhaps again due to Zoom being geared at bass. It doesn't seem likely but the HX reverbs seem thin (running mono, but did on the Zoom too). Since I am a bassist only light use anyway. Looper..not a big user but i think Zoom has longer loop times. (and along with the drum machine doesn't count in # of effects) Less important but convenient...Zoom has a metronome/drum track and a dedicated 1/8 aux input for mp3 player, etc. Most surprising: The Stomp synth stuff. Created quite a few patches. Not great for dedicated classic bass synth patches, but got some great sounds/layers, even faux brass and sax. Disappointments: Lack of dedicated "bass" effects. This saves on tweaking/EQ etc. I actually know more bassists using Stomp than guitarists! 3 note generator and 4 voice synth...just a drone???? The 6 block thing????? Why wouldn't it have the same as the LT if using the same chip? I could live with it easily if send/returns didn't count as a block..Who thought that was a good idea? Update process...following directions crashed at both updates 2.91 and 2.92... scary for new user! Another main reason for changing: Support! Line 6 seems to support their products with updates and ideascale. I had contacted Zoom many times about updates, looks like they abandoned the B3n already. I think the next HX update(3.0) will remove some of the disappoinment issues...at least two more blocks for send/return and Command center functions if I heard that right. (after all got Stomp to run in midi setup) Hopefully, more octave/filter/synth models and more modern bass amps/cabs (More GK,Hartke,EBS models) Still, fun to re-create some of my old classic bass amps with the ones in the Stomp, but bring on the new! With expanded features I expect the Stomp to shrink my pedalboard. If i could do without some of my single pedals I might go for a an LT...wish it was smaller though Just curious on other users view and insights. Thanks.
  24. Hello, guys! So, I'm thinking of buying an HX Stomp because I have 2 tube amps that I hate to take them up and down because of their weight and how troublesome it is. Even though I love their sound, I think its time they seat at the studio a bit more haha Anyway, I have a pedalboard that is controlled via a mastermind pbc. Here is what I want to do: Have my drives in the mono loops of the PBC. My first stereo loop of the PBC would go to the hx and then back into the mastermind. Then my next stereo loops would be timeline -> big sky -> wet My only usage for the HX would be amp simulation really. So, with all that being said, I know the hx stomp has the ability to output instrument lvl, but could I plug from the wet (last pedal in the chain) directly into a PA? I know the hx has a loop, but im not sure how I could keep my 3 effect pedals in the hx loop and also in the mastermind loop (so I could turn their loop on and off via the PBC). Maybe this is possible? I know I could make the HX stomp last on the board and make it output line level, but being able to have those effects after the amp sim would be really nice since thats what I like to do with my FX loop. Thanks already for the help and sorry if this is obvious.
  25. Hello, I am new to Helix and have learned a ton the past 2 months reading all the wisdom on this forum. Thank you! I would like to have a Footswitch assigned to modify 2 parameters on an Amp Block. In this case I wish to INCREASE the Drive parameter and DECREASE the Channel Volume to create a CRUNCH-like footswitch while maintaining consistent volume levels. In working with assigning multiple parameters to a footswitch, it seems that it can only toggle ALL the parameters to the Max value at one time then ALL of them back to the MIN value at one time; not one to Max while the other to Min. I understand that this may be easily doable with Snapshots, however I am still figuring out how that might fit into my live gigs based on the diversity of situations I am in given I have grown up used to stomp boxes. I will get there for sure as I know they are powerful. For now, I appreciate understanding if what I would like to do is possible with footswitches in stomp mode.
