  1. No problem, I know exactly what you mean. :-) Actually I was surprised to find the HX Effects wasn't its own sub-topic under Helix.
  2. Thanks, that's what I thought. Back to the IRs. :-)
  3. Does the HX Effects have cabs? I didn't see them listed in the Owner's Manual - just that it can use IRs.
  4. One of my uses will be using a preamp into the Effects and then to a recording interface, so I assume I will need an IR block in the chain.
  5. The HX Effects manual says, "NOTE: Just like a true speaker cab, IR blocks are mono. Therefore, an IR block will sum any stereo source that is fed into it to mono." I get that. It doesn't sound like there an option to set the IR block to stereo? If not then it has to be placed before any stereo blocks. So the IR block would come before effects like stereo delay and stereo reverb blocks. If that is true, my question is does having the IR block that far forward in the chain affect the ultimate sound at the end?
  6. Thanks, I anticipate using only one IR but I want the HX to output stereo so I was concerned that by putting the IR block before my stereo blocks that it might affect the sound.
  7. I have ordered the HX Effects and am reading the manual and watching the videos. The manual says, "NOTE: Just like a true speaker cab, IR blocks are mono. Therefore, an IR block will sum any stereo source that is fed into it to mono." If I want stereo output it seems I should put the IR block someplace with any other mono blocks and place the stereo blocks at the end? Will the location of the IR block have any effect on the overall final sound output, other than the obvious stereo/mono issue? Does the HX Effects come with any IRs preloaded? Is the HX Edit software functioning for importing IRs to the HX Effects? Thank you.
  8. Mine failed also. There is a thread about it here. Bottom line, contact Line 6 and open a support ticket.
  9. Cool! I just ordered the same Strymon pedals to add to my Helix. How are you running them into the Helix? Thanks
  10. I record with Audacity thru the Helix. I monitor with headphones from the Helix and can record multiple tracks of guitar and mic with no discernible latency. I am hardly an expert with Audacity but it is working for me. My Interface Preferences show I am using MME as the Host with the Playback and Recording Devices set to Line 6.
  11. I can't find the Native program on my computer after installation. Win 10. MD 5 checksum says the downloaded file is OK. The only programs I see installed under Line 6 is "Helix Native Pilot's Guide" and "Uninstall". The only files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Line 6\Helix Native is Uninstall.exe.
  12. Peter, what is the 8" floor monitor you are using? Thanks
  13. I opened a support ticket and am sending it to Line 6.
  14. No, still not working. And the mics and cables are fine. I just opened a Support Ticket yesterday but haven't heard anything yet. If you do a search it seems quite a few Helix have had the mic input stop working. I will report back when Line 6 replies. Keep me posted with your progress on fixing the problem. Thanks
  15. Yes, I had tried adjusting the Global Mic Gain setting but there is no sound from the mic. I am pretty sure the 48v phantom power was on before I plugged in the mic. I didn't see anything in the manual about plugging in the mic before turning on the 48v power but it seems either the mic or the Helix mic input has failed. Thanks for your help.
  16. Thanks for all your input. I have tried all suggestions. Nothing seems to work. I don't have access to my other mics right now but I think the problem must be either the mic or the Helix mic input. I have one question for PeterHamm - You said you set set the preamp gain to 24 or 27. The Studio Tube Pre-amp for the mic only goes to 10. Where are you setting the gain to 24 or 27? Thanks
  17. I selected Template 012 Guitar and Mic for a basic start with the two respective inputs and made no changes or added blocks, etc. Using headphones for monitoring. Guitar input works fine. But there is nothing from the mic. The mic is a Shure Beta 87A. I set the Helix Mic In 48v on. I adjusted the Mic In Gain in Global Settings but it had no effect. I also increased the Pre-amp Gain and Level but there still is no mic sound. I don't think the mic is bad and I swapped mic cables. Are there other settings required when using the mic input? Can the mic input go bad/fail? Thanks for your help.
  18. I had done that but I wasn't getting two tracks in DAW and monitoring from the Helix stopped. So it looks like I have to plug my headphones into my computer for monitoring when I am recording two paths into two tracks to DAW? I think part of the problem is my unfamiliarity with Reaper (coming from Audactiy) so I am prolly not setting up the tracks right.
  19. I have a guitar into Path 1 and a mic into Path 2. Helix is connected to my Windows 10 computer via USB. I can record a mix of both the guitar and mic with Reaper and Audacity. But I can't figure out how to record the guitar and mic into separate channels in the DAW. I assume it is possible and I need to adjust some settings in either the Helix or DAW? I have looked at the Manual but I don't see where that is covered. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Tuner

My point is - for me it was easy to put a good tuner in front of the Helix and I would rather Line 6 use their resources to continue to improve the quality of the amps and cabs and variety of effects in the Helix. FWIW, I have repeatedly used 1 cent tuners and .1 cent tuners and I prefer the results from the .1 cent tuners. Use whatever works for you.

    Tuner

When using amps I got used to always having a stobe tuner with +- 0.1 accuracy. Now with the Helix I use the strobe tuner before the Helix. It would be nice to have a built in tuner with 0.1 accuracy but I understand the current limitations and competing demands.
