  1. Somehow I have deleted the installation software for HD500X Edit. I have searched all over the downloads website and can't find it again. I know it's there right under my nose. My wife constantly tells me how blind I am. PLEASE No One tell her about my not finding this! I am going to have to reformat my hard drive and reinstall my OS. So I want to download it so it is there when I reinstall every thing. Can anyone possibly provide a link? Running Windows 8.
  2. Are you going to tell us which one?
  3. You made the extension cord for the power supply? Any idea where a guy can buy one?
  4. I am not the least bit interested in whether or not I am using the most "hip" term. In fact, I'm sure "hip" is a very outdated term. spaceatl, thank you. It is doing that. It is doing something weird that I posted about elsewhere. It is just spontaneously disconnecting from my POD after so long. But it is switching where appropriate. I never said my computer sound old. But that was the point I was trying to get to. Should I just get a new system (build) if I'm going to have to get a new hard drive to start with? I absolutely guaranty you I will never "make 128 track masters". And I further guaranty you I am not about to get a separate system solely for recording. Should I ever record more than a couple tracks it will be a shock. Other than me on guitar and a backing track what could occupy a track?
  5. It was good while it lasted. It is still working fine as far as playing my guitar through it. But if I am playing music from my computer through the speakers connected to my POD it will work fine for some period of time. 30 minutes? 60 minutes? Then it just quits. I get a message that my audio player is not responding. If I try and play a YT video nothing. I'm going to practice now and, as I said, music from my guitar through POD to speakers will be fine. But to play music from my computer I'll have to reboot it again.
  6. Thanks to you all on this forum, especially @spaceatl , I got my POD HD500 connected, up and running and it's working great! But I didn't realize in advance that my POD was actually going to serve as my system's sound card. For something totally unrelated to playing guitar I had to take my computer to the repair shop yesterday. The service tech informed me that, like me, my computer is getting old and slow. He was specifically referring to the hard drive but if I'm going to have to replace it at some point I just as well start thinking about a whole new system. Down the road, should I ever start doing some recording will I ever revert to using my computer's sound card for that? Or will I always continue using the POD as the sound card? I have Reaper so that it recognizes my POD as the source so I don't know what that situation would be that I would use my sound card. Yet I vaguely remember a year or two ago, when I was first learning Reaper, the book that I was studying from talking about sound cards and their speed and latency issues, etc. I figure if I'm going to have to get a new computer I just as well get a great sound card at the same time if I may need one.
  7. Positive. OMG. That was awful! Great job.
  8. 87.3% certain I am going to go with JBL 305's. I really liked the sound.
  9. Does anyone have any idea what he said? lol
  10. Thank you for starting this thread. I'm in exactly the same situation and need to find some replacement speakers for my system. The responses are helpful.
  11. Stop the presses!!! I also found an adapter and an extension cable to reach my POD. And Debbie is coming through my speakers!
  12. Woo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I tell my computer to use "Speakers Line 6 POD" for playback and then play something. (I chose Debbie Davies' new album btw. ) The music comes through my headphones plugged into my POD! Now to get that adapter so I can plug my speakers into the POD.
  13. Thank you for all the help that you have been. I feel like, if I knew where you are at, I should send you a bottle of Scotch (or your favorite spirit ) for all the help you have been. As I said I'll be tied up for a couple days but then get the TRS adapter or test with the headphones and get back to you. Thanks again for all your help and patience.
  14. Let's be very clear. I am not trying to do any configuration. I don't have any planned configuration! lol I'm just trying to get this d#$%ned thing so it will play through my speakers. So in that Windows box above I tell it to use the "Speakers Line 6..etc"? After I get the adapter and plug my speakers into it, of course. And then at some point I'm going to be able to tell my DAW (Reaper) to use the POD? Once again, Thank You. Due to medical appointments and some other things going on it will be a day or two before I can go get that adapter. If you don't hear back it's not because I gave up or lost interest! Unless I find one of those adapters laying around.
  15. This is getting way above my pay scale. Connect my speakers to the POD?!?!?! Then when I'm playing music on my computer (cd's (yes, I still use physical media lol), YouTube, etc.) how am I going to get sound? Do I need to switch the speakers all the time? And my speakers just have the little plug. Once again, Thank you.
  16. Wow! Thanks for the blazingly fast response. The volumes are maxed in the Line 6 Device. I'm listening through speakers connected to my sound card. I'm not sure about the rest of that "XLR outputs", etc.
  17. Actually that worked and I did NOT have to reinstall the driver. Thank you! But now here is the problem du Jour. I can only hear it if I have the "Master" turned all the way clockwise and the amp volume turned all the way clockwise and my guitar volume also all the way up. With all those up if is far from loud. I can hear it ok but I wouldn't think I need all those up. Thanks again.
  18. If I go into Control Panel->Sound Playback and Recording does not show my POD HD 500X as one of my choices. However, in Control Panel "Line 6 Audio-Midi devices" does show up. I'm plugged into my computer by USB. when I turn on my POD I do get the beep that Windows knows it's there. Anyone any ideas on how I can get Windows to play with my POD so I can play through it into my computer? Edited to add: I do have the latest driver, btw, v4.2.7.6
  19. I'm also sorry in that I am having difficulty understanding what you're asking. When you say, "On initializing th edit program ,it downloads presets.. What presets?" , the Edit program is synching with your POD. When finished the "picture" of presets on your screen accurately reflects everything that is in your POD. If you make any changes in the software and want that in your POD you will want to "Send" (to the left of the picture of the POD) those changes to your POD. Do you "need to mess with them at all ?" Isn't that the whole idea? You "mess with them", make changes and then send them to your POD. It's easier using the software than doing it with the controls on the POD.
  20. Yep. Some real dumbsh&t was trying to do that. Tim. Make sure you're using the correct version on HD Edit.
  21. Buzz? Yeah, I would call it a "Buzz". If you go to that Soundcloud link you can hear it. I don't know what a ground loop is. I'll try plugging into a different outlet if I can find an extension chord. All the outlets in my office/sound/practice room are on the same circuit.
  22. My POD HD 500X is connected to my Fender Blues Jr.3 via a regular guitar cable. If I hook up a guitar to it everything works fine. Sounds great. I just recently installed the Edit software and connected to my computer (Windows system) via USB cable. And now I am getting a horrible buzz out of my amp. It makes no difference if the POD is on or off. The second I unplug the usb cable out of the back of my POD it is quiet. This will give you an idea of the noise: https://soundcloud.com/matonanjin/noise I know this is not the fault of the POD. But I hope that there may be some electronics experts on here that can suggest where I start to resolve this. At some point I may want to start recording with my POD and DAW and I will have to figure this out.
  23. Well, that's embarrassing. Thank you!
  24. Actually, Windows recognizes it but POD HD Edit won't. When I plug my POD HD 500X into my computer via USB cable I get the familiar "beep" that a device has been plugged into my computer. I have installed the Line 6 drivers v4.2.7.6 But when I fire up POD HD Edit I get a warning box that states "Could not detect a POD HD connected to your computer. POD HD will run in offline mode." Anybody any suggestions? Any and all suggestions are appreciated.
