  1. Hey guys, My Helix floor suddenly lost all the custom names for each snapshot, so I went through the process of updating to 3.5, including the firmware, along with loading a saved setlist, which brought everything back. However, my Workbench HD is the giving me the following notification - see attached screenshot: The connected Variax is not compatible with Workbench HD. You must use a James Tyler Variax version 2.00 or higher I do not understand why everything was working just fine and 24 hours later, I have to jump through all these hoops. I have literally been working with the JTV-89, Workbench and the Helix floor since Dec of 2020, with relatively zero issues. Why are all these issues happening now? This literally was working yesterday BTW, before I submitted this post, I thought I would read a few more and one suggested to unplug the guitar, followed by plugging it back in and clicking the top control button to turn the guitar back on, which worked. This has been a strange 24 hour period of time
  2. In case someone else goes through this issue. Uninstalled HX Edit, installed the latest, followed by updating to the latest version for the floor, including firmware. Followed instructions, including the ones to ignore the errors and move forward to the second portion of the update, along with holding footswitches 9 & 10 during start of Helix, followed by loading my latest setlist and the custom names of the snapshots returned. However, when I launched Workbench HD, I received the following error - see attached screenshot: One or more presets failed to load from guitar - Code 8000000a So now I will down that error
  3. Hey guys, First, my specs: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-12900H 2.50 GHz 16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable) Windows 11 Home NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU Helix Floor v3.01.0 Cubase 8.5 Second, I am new(ish) to windows. Since my old mac labtop was having issues with Cubase, I decided to switch to a labtop that was made for playing rock n roll songs via Cubase and the VSTs Everything was going great when I was practicing a song and suddenly my Helix floor was disconnected. I have had this issue before, which required me to turn the Helix floor off and back on, but this time all the custom names of hundreds of presets reverted to their original state - "SNAPSHOT 1", "SNAPSHOT 2" etc... I make setlists and create restores on a regular basis - after any significant change. As a result, I tried to reload a setlist made 02.25 but still the custom names have reverted to the original and the colors of the footswitches are all red. I literally lost hundreds of customizations. But that's not all, when I run a restore, then I receive the following error code:-8212 - see attached screenshot It does not matter which restore file that I select, I receive the same error. Here's the crazy thing, if I open Helix Native, which is a plugin for Helix floor via a Cubase instrument track, then it still retains the custom names - see attached image Why two questions are: 1) how can I load a successful restore? 2) why would this happen, all of the sudden? The same setlist(s) that populated Helix Native are the same setlists that are now showing the reverted - "SNAPSHOT 1", "SNAPSHOT 2" etc... - on the Helix floor - how is that even possible?
  4. In case someone else on mac os 10.14.6 would like to know the answer to the question, where is the default file located on the computer to replace with your own custom bundle file, then the following is the path: /Users/<home directory name>/Library/Application Support/Line 6/Workbench HD <home directory name> is replaced by whatever your home directory is named And within that directory/folder is the file name is "LastGuitarPresets.bun" - I renamed that file to LastGuitarPresets-bun.bak, followed by placing my own custom bundle file in the same directory/folder and renamed it to "LastGuitarPresets.bun" I can also imagine on Windows it would be something similar - Users\<home directory name>\App Data... - probably some folder named roaming or something like that Anyways, when I launch Workbench HD, then I can see that my file loads - see first screenshot And if I click on any of the presets, then my configurations come up EDIT/CORRECTION: This only loads when the guitar is not connected. Once the guitar is connected, then it downloads from the guitar, which reverts it to it's default settings - see last screenshot If anyone knows a way around this, then please let me know. The reason why I am trying to do this, is that my computer (Macbook Pro laptop) sometimes starts to slow down when I have my DAW (Cubase 8.5), along with Workbench open. If I just have my DAW open, then everything works good.
  5. Sorry, if this reply was for me, but I am referring to where is the file located on the computer, so that I can replace the default with my custom bundle file
  6. Where is the file located? I created a bundle file, that I have to reload every time that launch Workbench, then I have to keep workbench open to use my custom bundle. I would like to replace the default bundle with my custom bundle, so that I do not have to launch workbench at all. I am running os 10.14.6 - thanks in advance
  7. silverhead, I used to tutor Calculus and I barely remember anything. From time to time, I will watch basic math tutorials (Geometry, Algebra, etc...) and I will say to myself, "Oh yeah, I knew that" but I could not save my life if it depended on it. OK, for the promised youtube video - first, this is my first attempt at uploading a 4K file which is almost an hour long and youtube is still processing the 4K conversion, but the 1080p version is available - please let me know what you guys think. BTW, the second song is supposed to change from acoustic to electric, then back to acoustic but it does not. Yet it works on the first song. I can see on the Helix Floor that it changes, yet the sound is still that of a preset that I call "Electric Eye" - any ideas why it works for the first song, but not the second would be great to hear. Changes in the Helix are being triggered via MIDI on channel 16. Man I can't wait for covid to be over so that I can get some sun. I look vitamin D deficient for sure. Once again, thank you for your help and I hope that you enjoy. If you do, then please hit the like button.
  8. OK, I woke up in the middle of the night doing a little math. 347 - 256 = 91 of the User set list. In my case, this was a preset called "Baracuda_Heart" 1) Turn off the Helix Floor 2) Held down FS7 and FS8 3) Opened HX Edit 4) Restore backup, which was made prior to the upgrade 5) Clicked into preset 93, which I had named "REBELL YELL" - worked fine 6) Right clicked on the aforementioned preset, chose copy 7) Right clicked on preset 91 and chose paste 8) Created a new backup for today 9) Turned off the Helix Floor, followed by turning it back on and it rebuilt all the presets with no issues. As I was typing this response, it was in the 400s, so I have no idea exactly how many it rebuilt, but it looks good. Turning off and on one more time - drum roll please - comes up with no problem. It looks like datacommando was correct when they pointed out that there could be a bad preset Thank you all so much for your help. I will record some songs (I was about to type tomorrow, but it already is tomorrow) this morning, in a few hours, followed by editing this response with a youtube link to the video. You guys may regret helping me :-)
  9. Thanks for the feedback guys, but while the Helix Floor is saying "Rebuilding Preset 347" the HX Edit does not find the device. That is why following ralfaro's advise yesterday was so awesome, in that it got me back up and running, but this morning, I was back to where I was yesterday. How do I delete preset 347? I did not have this many presets before the update. What I noticed yesterday, is that it went through all the presets fairly quickly until it reached 347. I did not have a preset 347 with version 2.8 something. Also, every time after reverting to 2.8 something and restart the Helix, it boots back into 3.01, followed by being stuck at "Rebuilding Preset 347" - how do I remove 3.01 entirely so that I do not have keep going through this endless cylce?
  10. Hey Just Startin, Did you find a solution for this issue? I followed your advice on going back to 2.82, followed by using the Line 6 updater to take me to 3.01 and reapplying my last backup, which was made before the original update to 3.01, but when I started my Helix floor this morning, it went back to being stuck at "Rebuilding Preset 347" Does anyone know what is preset 347 is? Thanks in advance
  11. I do not know if this is the solution or not, but it has worked so far and I will add another post if it stops working. First, I went to Global Settings> MIDI/Tempo> set Tempo Select to Global and changed the MIDI Thru from "auto" to "Off" Second, in Cubase> the midi channel that I had dedicated to the Helix, channel 16, I changed the incoming Midi from "All MIDI inputs" to "Not connected" - I read in another post that the Helix sends data back to Cubase, so I basically turned off the loop Another Edit to original post One item that I may have overlooked as trivial, is actually very important. If you right-click on the newly created MIDI track, select "Show Automation," which will allow you to select the CC 0 and CC 32 parameters, that you entered into Cubase's "Line Editor" - see screenshot from previous post above. Once selected, follow that by selecting "Modulation" from the drop down menu directly below the first drop down menu, followed by clicking the "lock" icon - see second screen shot below. Be sure to repeat these steps with the CC 32 parameter as well. Once you have locked both the CC 0 and CC 32 parameters, then make sure that your audio interface, which has the MIDI in cables connected to the Helix's MIDI out, is selected, with the channel that you have set in Cubase's "Line Editor" - once again, see screen shot from previous post above. In my case, I set the channel to 16 in the "Line Editor," so I selected channel 16 of my Focusrite Clarett. It has still worked so far. The only time that it hasn't was when I would forget to these steps, that I have just outlined.
  12. Hi @Optimist I know that this is a post from over a year ago and I know that my question is not the same as your question, but maybe you could help me, because it is a similar question. I have tried to place a Program Change in a Midi track to change Presets, but I have been unsuccessful so far. By clicking the "PRESET" button on my Helix, I was able to see that my preset had the following values that you see in the screen shot below, which I have been able to enter into the line editor of my Cubase 8.5. When I click the play button within Cubase, I can see on the Helix screen, that it changes to CC32: 002, PC: 008 and CC69: 000. I do not understand why it follows my input of the CC32 to be 002 and the CC69 to be 0, but the Program Change "PC" becomes 008, when I clearly have it set to 51? Again, as you can see in the screen shot, I have even tried to add 51 to the Data 2 column, but that did not work either. Is there a CC from program change? I have also tried to keep each command sequential, along with adding the MSB - CC0. I have also tried to change the 51 to any other number, but it has not worked so far. Still remains on PC008 If you are able to make your Program Change, then can you share with me how you did that? One edit to my original post - I watched the following video and realized that I had to change the Global Settings> Midi channel to the same channel that I have in Cubase - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ADVKLUcwkk As a result, I changed my Global Settings> Midi to 16 and the preset changed for a brief moment, but then reverted to the PC008 preset. Why? That does not make sense. Nothing else is set to channel 16. OK, one more edit. After I wrote the last sentence, I went to check the channel settings on each track. After making sure that each track was set to a specific number, then the above screen shot worked, with the one exception that I had to change it from 51 to 52 Thank you for letting me talk through this, until I figured it out. BTW, another thing that is important from the above YT link, is that, you have to choose your audio interface as the external rather than the Helix. I imagine that it is because, as the YT video explains, connect your midi out of the audio interface to the midi in of your Helix. One other note, if you want to change the snapshots, then use CC69 to change - the following video around 06:51 explains changing snapshots - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojUgrs5x8rU - In Cubase, I was able to use CC69 with a value 0 for the first snapshot, value 1 for the second snapshot and so forth One other caveat, if my VST instrument tracks are frozen, then I would have the same issue as listed at the beginning, where it reverts to the 008 preset. If anyone knows a work around for that, then I would appreciate it. In many of my songs, I have so many tracks that I really need to freeze many tracks, so that it does not overdo the CPU. Hope this helps someone and thanks in advance.
