  1. Hi Roman: As you can see there's not a lot of traffic around here - which is unfortunate. 1. When renaming the preset try rotating the Model Select knob all the way to the left - counter-clockwise. That should take to you a blank. The downside is you have to do this for each character, but at least it will clear them out. 2. I have the same thing with my M13 and I was wondering if it's because I'm using the cheap Line 6 pedal. When I'm using it as a volume pedal, for example, when I'm all the way off/heel, I can still hear a really low sound coming from my amp. Also, the sweep is not linear - the majority of the signal/volume comes nearly in the travel (maybe 1/2 way) and the rest doesn't make much of a difference. Again, not sure if it's the M13 or the pedal 3. Make sure your set to Autosave. This will keep the last settings you used in each effect as well as what you had on or off. From the manual: Scenes Knob 1 toggles between Autosave or Manual Save. With Autosave, every change you make to your Scene is saved, like a real pedal board. With Manual Save, changes made to your individual FX will be saved only if you don’t change Scenes; if you do recall a Scene, all your changes will be lost. Manual Save is a good choice, however, when you want to be sure your Scenes will always be recalled exactly as programmed. Knob 4 selects Momentary Scene or Latch Scene mode. Please see Chapter 4 for more in-depth information on Momentary Scene and Latch Scene modes.
  2. Bummer to hear. Unfortunately I don't know where to source these. Aside from the LCD's how does the rest of the device work? If there's liquid damage I'd be concerned about something else being bad too.
  3. I have the M13 and use both the momentary scene and latch scene modes. At home I mostly use momentary and just turn on/off individual effects. But when I'm getting together with friends (I don't play in a band at this time) I often use latch scene to quickly change effects and the channels on my amp, etc. When I'm in latch scene I use the MIDI out of the M13 into a Voo Doo Lab Control Switcher to change amp channels. My amp is not MIDI so this converts the MIDI to a relay that my amp recognizes (no different than the footswitch). Preset 1A is Clean, 2A is Clean w/Chorus, 3A changes amp to OD, etc.
  4. It could be a few things. Sometimes the amps effects loop will slightly modify the tone, for example, or it could be the effect itself. Depending which delay your using some of them have bass and treble controls you can adjust.
  5. You need to set Latch Scene Mode in setup. It will be in the 3rd LCD window.
  6. I've not seen this before. I have a few pixels now then disappear in a window but nothing like this. I'm no electrical engineer, but I would think if it was a power issue the screen would display but be dimmer, and all of them - not progressive as you go from one to the next.
  7. Hello All: Where does the Global Noise Gate fall in the M13 signal chain and what is your experience with it? For me, it doesn't seem to be nearly as effective compared to setting it as one of the effect pedals. When I set it as a pedal in a scene it does a good job of reducing amp hiss on my Marshall DSL40C Red Channel. Then without changing anything, I'll turn off the pedal and enable the Global gate and it's minimal at best - still quite a bit of hiss. I'm using the four cable method btw. Since the DSL generates OD in the preamp I set the noise gate pedal in the effects loop before delays/reverb so it removes a lot of the amp hiss but doesn't affect my delays. It seems as if the global gate is before the preamp though since there's still a lot of hiss when it's enabled. Can anyone confirm - is this your experience as well? Thanks.
  8. ...patches and firmware, sure and makes sense. However, from the manual: The M13 will send and receive MIDI CC and Program Change messages on any MIDI Channel from 1 thru 16 or Omni... If it's going to send MIDI messages, as the manual states, I think it's reasonable to expect that with today's technology, it would be rather instant. Additionally, from what I can tell, aside from your response (which I do appreciate by the way), Line 6 has been rather quiet on the subject - no updates for the M13 since Jan 2011, etc. I suspect the M Series is nearing end of life and since there hasn't been an update for over 6 1/2 years I'm not expecting resolution for this issue. For that reason I think it's in my best interest as a consumer to look at competing products - which is a shame as I really, really like the M13, the sounds, the simplicity, etc., but the latency is a real pain to deal with in a live situation. Thank you for your response. Bob
  9. Hello Forum: Looking for feedback from anyone using the POD HD500X and a MIDI Controller (VooDoo Lab Control Switcher, Mini Amp Gizmo, etc.) to change the channels on a non-MIDI amp - Marshall DSL40C in this case. I recently bought the M13 as I don't want/need amp sims and also have the VooDoo Lab Control Switcher so I can change the channel on my amp when switching scenes in latch mode. The problem is I'm getting about a 1/2 second delay when I click over to a preset that changes the amp channel. This is likely a deal breaker for me so if the M13 forum doesn't have an answer I'll likely return it. I know it's not the VooDoo Lab as when I manually change the channel with that the response is instant. I'm looking at competitive products that have a built in relay for this exact purpose, but also would possibly consider the HD500X if: 1) There is no latency when using MIDI to change amp channels 2) I can completely bypass the amp/cabinet sims and use the 8 foot switches as presets like the M13 Thanks! Bob
  10. Hello: I recently purchased the M13 and a VooDoo Lab Control Switcher so I can change the channel on my DSL40 when switching scenes in latch mode and I'm also experiencing latency when changing channels. I don't have any other MIDI devices so there isn't anything to setup a "star" configuration for - it's just one midi cable from the M13 to the Control Switcher. From the little I can find about this online I'm not seeing M9 users having the same problem. I know the Control Switcher is not the problem as when I manually press the button controlling the channel it switches instantly. Is there any solution for this as this is likely a deal breaker for me as I can't deal with the delay in a live situation. I have 2 weeks to return the M13 and I'd rather not do that if this can be resolved. I'm now looking at the Boss GT-100 as that has a built in relay for amp control which is maybe a better way to go so I can bypass MIDI all together. I've read where people say the M13 is not a MIDI controller and I get that. But I'm not looking to do complicated MIDI programming with it and if it wasn't meant to control anything why have a MIDI out? Any help would be appreciated.
  11. Hello Forum: Just purchased the M13. My first Line 6 product and the first time using a Looper. My question is how do I record one loop and then change the sound to play over it without changing what's already recorded. What I'd like to do is loop a basic chord progression with a clean tone and a little chorus and then play lead over that with a little bit of crunch/overdrive. What's happening is I record/play the clean loop and then when I add an OD pedal (in the M13) for my lead it also adds OD to what I just recorded - the loop doesn't stay clean. I've tried messing with the Pre/Post switch but that only seems to make what's recorded a lot louder. I've tried recording the chord progression and exiting the looper before I turn on the OD and it doesn't make a difference. I've seen guys do this on YouTube but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated Thank you, Bob
  12. Hello Forum: I'm looking to get a used M13. I know they've been out for several years so is there something I should be looking for when comparing units? Or as long as it's in good shape and the firmware is updated it shouldn't matter if it's 1 or 5 years old? Thanks! Bob
