It should be fine. Depending on the sound you want, there are a few acoustic amp sims built into the Spiders.

I was wondering if anyone knows for sure what level the XLR outputs are on the SPider V 240? Are they Mic level, Instrument level, or Line level?

I picked up an Active USB 3 extension cable that's 30 feet long hoping to be able to use the iPad from more than 4 feet away. Unfortunately, I get an "Unsupported Hub" error on the Spider V screen when it's connected. I have a 10-foot passive extension cable which works fine. But There may be times I need a longer cable than that. Has anyone found an active Cable at least 20 feet long that works with the amp? I don't need it to be powerful enough to charge, just to change the presets on the amp. Maybe the Line 6 staff have an idea of something that can work. It still baffles me that some sort of Bluetooth or wireless wasn't available for an iPad. I have wireless freedom with the G10T, but not the iPad.

I can't find a way, but I was wondering if there was a way to control the master volume with the pedal. If I have a loop going at the end of a stong, it would be great to fade it out with the volume pedal.

The only amp model that even mentions a bass is the generic "Tube Instrument Preamp" which would be a perfectly clean tone, and the only one I would consider using without blowing the amp. My fear is turning it up very far may blow the speakers, so I wouldn't go very loud or use headphones to protect the speaker. That said, the description of the "1969 Brit Plexi Lead 200" amp says it was a favourite of bassists, but I would be very careful using this with a bass on the built-in speakers. Depending on tone, other effects you could use are Bass Overdrive – Based on* the Tech 21 Bass Sans Amp, with a pleasingly metallic distortion that is a favourite with the Post-Metal crowd. Bronze Master – Based on* the Maestro® Bass Brassmaster, considered by many to be the Holy Grail of bass distortion units. Sine Chorus I would avoid anything with too much gain, or that gets funky (like the synth effects)

Different cabinets can affect the sound. I suspect the Spider cabinet is designed to be as "neutral" as possible so the cab emulation comes through, but any quality cab should sound good. Though they may not work as well for the acoustic presets (if you play acoustic through them) since the Spider cab also has tweeters in it. I found this, which seems to indicate there's a switch for non-Spider cabinets. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/amplifiers/spider-v/spider-v-240hc-cabinet-modeling-r853 It seems to indicate there's a switch/setting for non-spider cabs to help with that.

It doesn't matter, it will ignore them until you turn a dial and then it will "jump" to that spot. So if you have the dial at say the 9 o'clock position when you load a tone but the parameter is set to say, the 3 o'clock in the preset it will just stay at the 3 o'clock "position". But then if you touch the dial at all, it will jump to the 9 o'clock position and start adjusting from there.

For example 8-ohm amp into a 16-ohm cabinet. However, since you're not powering the cabinet fully, it may affect the tone.

Since there's no XLR input, I'm not sure how you'd connect a microphone to the amp. If you got a cheap "Karaoke" style microphone with the 1/4" connection I guess you could use the "clean" generic tube amp, with no cabinet to record a mic.
