  1. Ideascale already has many suggestions like these for the regular Stomp, but it seems that Line6 is actively limiting this unit for marketing and business reasons. The Stomp XL has the exactly same processor and DSP limitations of the regular Stomp, but the former already offers 4 snapshots per preset. So to me it's pretty clear that this isn't a hardware or software limitation.
  2. Well, the HX Stomp supports 5 switches since day one, not just 3. So, according to your theory, we could get up to 5 snapshots without any problem, but I'm only asking for 4, hehehe
  3. Hi guys! Does anybody know if there's any chance for the HX Stomp to get 4 Snapshots in a future update, just like the XL? Or will it always be limited in that regard? Thanks!
  4. In my opinion, if someone plans to use the XL as an all-in-one multi-effects in order to do everything, then it makes more sense to get it instead of an HX Stomp + a MIDI controller. The XL wouldn’t require any MIDI programming, MIDI cables and any dedicated power source. Also, it’s footswitches are touch sensitive and color coded, which really helps with the HX interface and looks really nice. A MIDI Controller + HX Stomp combo CAN be much more powerfull than the XL, even if it's used as an all-in-one solution, but it would be much bigger and much more expensive, so it's really hard to advocate in favor of it. But I disagree when people see the XL as a good adition to an existing MIDI capable pedalboard: as soon as you start to increase the number of pedals, or the complexity of them, the XL will inevitably fall short because the Command Center on the Helix is fairly limited. So, depending on the pedalboard, a combo consisting of a good MIDI controller and a regular HX Stomp would be vastly superior. So, at the end of the day, I think the XL will appeal only for those planning to use it as an all-in-one soluttion (with somewhat limited DSP) or for small MIDI capable pedalboards. My particular wish is that Line 6 make something like an HX Stomp XL, but with the DSP capabilities of a full Helix, so it would be even smaller than an LT and you wouldn't be stuck with an expression pedal if you don't use it frequently, but you could still make use of the poly effects or double amps chains in a reasonable manner.
  5. There is a way to scroll through presets using MIDI, and without having to enter the Scroll Mode on the HX Stomp or having to emulate FS1 and FS2 on your controller. But in order to do this you have to get a MIDI controller capable of sending PC messages, not just the regular CC messages. I successfuly use a Morningstar MC8 to do it, and here is how: A) On your HX Stomp (I don't know if these steps are obligatory, but I thought they made sense with the MIDI comands described below): 1) Go to the Preferences Page under the Global Settings Menu on your HX Stomp. 2) Set the preset number scheme to 000-125 instead of A-B-C banks. B) Then go to your MIDI controller and program it like this: 1) Choose one footswitch to use it as both Preset UP and Preset Scroll UP. This way you can go up through your presets one at a time with a single footswitch tap, or scroll through them continuously by holding down the same footswitch. Message 1 Action: Release Type: PC Scroll Up (Deprecated) Slot: 0 Lower Limit: 0 Upper Limit: 125 Increment: Yes Message 2 Action: Long Press Scroll Type: PC Scroll Up (Deprecated) Slot: 0 Lower Limit: 0 Upper Limit: 125 Increment: Yes 2) Choose one footswitch to use it as both Preset Down and Preset Scroll Down. This way you can go up through your presets one at a time with a single footswitch tap, or scroll through them continuously by holding down the same footswitch. Message 1 Action: Release Type: PC Scroll Down (Deprecated) Slot: 0 Lower Limit: 0 Upper Limit: 125 Decrement: Yes Message 2 Action: Long Press Scroll Type: PC Scroll Down (Deprecated) Slot: 0 Lower Limit: 0 Upper Limit: 125 Decrement: Yes Those are the settings available to me with my MC8, but I don't know if they will be available on all MIDI controllers, so it's up to you guys to find out! Good luck!
  6. It's simple: 5 snapshots with the HX Stomp. We all can have access to up to 5 footswitches with it, and now that we also have the Command Center on the HX Stomp, it just seems so wrong that we're still limited to 3 snapshots. Also, it seems that this issue is not due to a processor limitation, since it has a slightly better chip (and with a slightly higher clock) than the Pod Go, which already offers 4 snapshots. I think Line6 is gradually running out of excuses for this artificial limitation they've put on the HX Stomp.
  7. Very cool update! Unfortunately, it seems that the number of Snapshots available in the HX Stomp is still just 3. Can anyone confirm this?
  8. I talked to James Lebihan from Mission Engineering a few days back and he told me that the HX Stomp may require up to 2A in order to run completely stable, although some people may never have any trouble if they use a 1A power supply, just because they never push their Stomp to its limits. OTOH, I tend to think that the HX Stomp is a "work in progress" kind of gear, and with some future firmware updates its power requirements may increase. So, if we want to play really safe and with a "future proof" mindset, I think we should use a 3A power supply, just like Line 6 did.
  9. Using a MC6 or MC8 to create "fake snapshots" is clever, but it just can't be done on the fly, in the middle of a rehearsal or something like that. To me, knowing that the HX Stomp can natively have up to 5 footswiches but, at same time, can have only 3 snapshots is a real bummer. And now that we have the POD GO, which have a slightly weaker processor and can nevertheless offer 4 snapshots, this limitation on the Stomp seems completely artificial, like an intentional software lock to prevent the HX Stomp to compete with the HX Effects. So yeah, my main wish with Helix 3.0 is the unlocking of 4 or even 5 snapshots on the HX Stomp. This and the Command Center feature will turn the Stomp into something much, much more powerfull from a practical point of view.
