Lets guess you have checked all USB ports and they are ok. Same to the USB cables and the power supply. Lets's also say you have installed the newest drivers correctly with attention. Your question about save mode has been answered by Line6David. Press and hold the down arrow key while powering on. This will display the fw update screen. Now you can reflash over Line6Monkey. I personally prefer to download the newest firmware first and to reflash offline by the stored flash-file. I wish you the best for I have no idea then (instead of exchanging the device)

Clever to try it on another pc. Last thing is to exchange your usb cable with eg the printer cable. Otherwise it is time to give a try with another exchanged hd500x. At this state I would not risk a failed reflash with save mode.

The driver cannot install or uninstall with Usb connected!!! Disconnect. Then deinstall and reinstall driver. Only connect when driver asks you to connect. Use a buildt-in Usb2 port only. You can keep monkey but close it during inst process. Download newest driver.

I hope I have understood: Save your presets with the editor. Then do a reset and all factory presets should come back. These ones you can also save with the editor. Now you can reload your best presets eg into the empty user banks. You can change the banks by pressing the knob wheel and navigation buttons.

First of all I would check the power. Can you measure 9V DC (=) output? If you connect your POD over USB at your PC and open Monkey, will Monkey show you anything, or can HD500 Edit read your presets? >If they can, the display would seem to be defect. Think that a full reset also means to reinstall the firmware. Connect you POD over USB and hold down the black round multi-function button to the right side and power up. It should then boot up in Safe Mode. Can you now read the display here? > If you do, then continue firmware update with Monkey and finish with firmware reset and pedal calibration. > If you don't, maybe the board is defect or the power still is not ok. Try to exchange the power cable (exactly 9V DC and at least 3A, e.g. Line 6 DC-3G). If this doesn't help, bring it to a repair center.

Hey tochiro, You can check it easily. Just download HD500X Edit and see if it will load your HD500 presets. Harpel wrote he renamed the file extension from .h5e to .h5x and it seems to load the files.

I don't know if it is a known bug, but it is a bug. What's happening: - Positive values are o.k. - Negative values are always one value below. The reason is, that the POD HD500 display shows "0.0" twice. Example while I'm turning the knob one click to the left each time to decrease values: 0.3; 0.2; 0.1; 0.0; 0.0; -0.1; -0.2; -0.3 Whereas the editor is consistent. I also often recognice a bigger tonal step in sound while effect values come to zero.

Or same in words: There is a fx block called FX Loop. You place it at any of the 8 possible positions you like, just as it was an usual effect. So you can place up to 7 more effects altogether before and behind the FX Loop block. For the 4CM you usually disable the virtual amp block in its fx path. Preset example: wah - overdrive - fx loop - Amp disabled - mixer - delay - reverb Cable example: Guitar out jack> Guitar Input 1; FX Send > AmpInFront; FX Return L/Mono> AmpSendBackside(Preout); 1/4"Out L/Mono > AmpReturnBackside(Poweramp in). Within fx loop you can control volumes, same does the mixer. Place it where you need to mix. I prefer it behind the fx loop. Don't forget to ckeck Output Mode on SYSTEM page. There was a discussion what mode is best, I'd start with STACK FRONT because this is the first amp's input connection.

>The sound will be transfered over USB, but to hear a sound the speaker must be connected to the POD. Maybe the volume sliders of the Asio driver must be configured.

In short words: Monkey is now seeing the POD - all software is up to date now, but Savon doesn't hear any sound. He is asking how the sound will be transmitted - over USB or over L-R jacks.

Hi Stratchamp, Your preset is o.k.. My Pod HD 500 does pan hard left and hard right with your file, so I can hear amp 1 only left side, and amp 2 only on right side. Please save your presets as a bundle over HD500 Edit software, then do a Global Reset and Pedal Calibration. http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-2222 http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-2223 If this doesn't help then do a firmware reflash saying NOT to keep your presets, then again Global Reset and Pedal Calibration. Ps.: You amp's volume knobs here are not loud enough. You can turn the volume knobs higher. I'd say at least 50%.

>Please also check if all Line6 software is the latest. Is monkey up to date? Im asking this because in the studio there is no internet and maybe you have old drivers.

To make sure you have the best solution also experiment with all kind of settings. Try also STACK FRONT and COMBO FRONT where you can adjust highs and lows and focus, and also try COMBO STACK (It once has been said that Combo Stack is for an open box, and Power Stack is for a closed box). Maybe Studio DIRECT is your favorite, but maybe all this emulation here takes away a litte bit of the power and frequencies, or it sounds less direct. It's your taste that counts.

When open and connected, POD HD EDIT always wants to synchronize the sound with the loaded files.

I'm no professional, but I do my best, so I have compared it with the original sound at the same time: Try to give some more mid and lower mid sound, you are not strong enough. Maybe use an extra EQ if the amp EQ won't do. I don't know your preset setup, but you should try to get the sound a little bit closer to the Center. I mean if you use a chorus or another spreading effecting parameter, then reduce the depth, and if you are using two amps, then mix them a litte bit more mono, just a little - you are pretty close to it already (it has something to do with phase shifting). You can also check the predelay parameter of your reverb. Check your cab settings. On amp page 4/5 try to reduce ER parameter and on page 5/5 you can reduce Res LVL parameter to get a more direct sound. If you decrease Decay parameter a little, you get a tighter feel which also will give a more direct sound, especially in contrast with reverb effects. You must be very sensitive, don't turn to fast and feel how the sound changes with each single step of value. You do not have to change everything, but now it is time to test some details. Some don't believe me, but I hear a difference if I change some values just +1 / -1. I also hear a difference in tone wether I'm in Edit Mode or in Play Mode (saved), or if I'm connected over USB or not.

Hi toneman2121, Yes, Savon just has confirmed over messenger that he has the drivers surely installed and they are in the studio available, even without internet. He is asking if I have another idea, because he thinks he has got an USB port problem. I asked him if he uses an USB hub, and he replied he doesn't have an USB hub. Of course I told him also from your idea to do the global reset. Unfortunately he seems to have problems posting here and only the messenger is working. Now he thinks about a defect motherboard, but I told him to test some other devices or to use another USB port.
-
Well, savon will know what's the problem. I hope he will post, because many users leave their threads open.
-
Hey toneman2121, I understand that savon has got a computer with Windows XP and internet, where everything works fine. His computer with Windows 7 in the studio doesn't have internet and Monkey cannot find the device. I think he just hasn't installed the driver on Windows 7 system correctly. He really should install the driver before he is going to make a global reset.

1. Yes, "Studio" mode is correct for mixer and active monitors. If you choose "Amp" or "Line" depends from the input level of your mixer ports. What says the manual of your mixer? Usually I'd say choose "Line" first (-10dbV). If the level is too low, then go with "Amp" to get higher output. 2. A big volume difference is not meant. But have you done a "factory reset" after firmware update? You also should better choose not to keep your presets during fimware update. This means you have to save them over HD400 Edit before. 3. Beside the manual, take a look at Meambobbo's tone guide: http://foobazaar.com/podhd/toneGuide/ Or just download these presets from customtone. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/209242/ http://line6.com/customtone/tone/209898/ http://line6.com/customtone/tone/211175/ http://line6.com/customtone/tone/211175/ John Petrucci plays Mesa Boogie Mark amps. You can try the Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier "TREADPLATE" model. Choose a compressor or extra overdrive as fx1 (as needed), a mod effect as fx2 (chorus, flanger, phaser) and add your wah model and reverb.

You can check some things: Of course you can disconnect from USB and uninstall, then reinstall the driver and reconnect over USB when the driver tells you. You can also try another USB port. But maybe it is because your computer or some components go to sleep. While you are playing guitar, the pc thinks you are doing nothing. Take a look at the Windows Power/Energy options in the Control Center. Here also take a look at the extended power settings. Then look at the Device Manager > USB Controller. Here are also energy options where you can disable the USB controller going to sleep.

I don't want to make you buy an additional device, but maybe this one can help: MM5 Advanced Programmable MIDI Foot Controller http://www.philrees.co.uk/products/footctrl.htm It seems like with this device you can program Midi command sequences that will be all executed with just one single kick at once, e.g. one Midi command to change preset on HD500 and one Midi command to change the amp channel.
