    Helix 2.9

Totally hear you, man :( People, IMHO, if anything, we should write an email to Line6 support, suggesting them to have a community manager in these forums (and social media). Asking devs to write here as part of their jobs isn't cool. I work on a software company and they have a team of 4 people (2 from community management, 2 from support) checking the different communities (reddit, Twitter, Instagram, discord...). Developers never show up, and that's perfectly fine. If their input is needed, they're asked by the community management team. We don't even have forums. Forums are actually something from the past I think what we would all like here is some kind of weekly/monthly communication from Line 6 regarding the Helix updates. However, not many companies do that anyway. Most of them release updates when they're ready. @Digital_Igloo: couldn't you just mark some people as "ignored" and stay with us?

    Helix 2.9

I hope they're safe at home. The next update can wait (as everything else in our lives currently) :) This might be a good chance to explore even further all the capabilities in the Helix.
  5. That would be in HX edit, I guess. I'm talking about the Helix LT interface ^_^U
  6. Yes, I'm currently copying and pasting, but I don't understand why you can't just move it when path 2 is linked to path 1 ^_^U I understand why it couldn't be done if path 2 doesn't come after path 1, though.
  7. It certainly didn't appear on the first dozens of pages when I searched. Thanks! Two years since that, though ^_^U As I said a few posts ago, it does. I'm my case, normally only 2 or 3 strings are out of tune everytime I start rehearsing. Being able to see which, saves you from checking all strings. Also, if all strings were in tune, you'd only need to strum the guitar once, instead of six. You don't save years, of course, but it's better than string by string for sure. I guess it's more noticeable when you have a polyphonic tuner than imagining it. I got my first polytune ten years ago and I will never go back xD The polytune 3 mini is probably the best choice. Despite its size, you can clearly see all strings as in the normal size versions, but it takes much less space. It also comes with buffer, and can detect drop D tuning.
  8. Yes, the problem was that I didn't understand the parallel chain and thought it was A or B. Now I find the Helix even more powerful :D What bugs me is that I cannot move blocks from main path to the second path, but only to a parallel path and back. Not sure if it's a bug or if there's a reason for that behaviour.

    Helix 2.9

This reminded me of another story, of a beginner guitarist who didn't have the ability to hear if his gear was clipping or not, and one day tried checking the meters, fixed some errors he had... And it sounded pretty good! ;-P Jokes aside, we all get it: developing ears is a must. But there's no crime on using technology while you are working on it. Being able to see if something is wrong can make a huge difference for many players, resulting in better music, which is good for everyone. Even more: you can improve your listening by realizing, with the meters, that you were making mistakes.
  10. I don't think it's polyphonic at all. A polyphonic shifter doesn't produce artifacts. The EHX Pitch fork is pretty good. Not 100% like a capo (will that ever be possible?), but as good as it can be right now. Definitely much better than any monophonic shifter. I can use it to add an octave up or down and sound convincing, as long a it's not louder than the main guitar volume. The Whammy V also sounds good but I sold it to get a Pitch fork because the latter has a mix knob.

This. Having meters won't hurt anyone. It will help some and it will be useless for some, but it won't change how they play or sound, so there's nothing to criticise :)
  12. Wow, you nailed it. It was in a parallel path. I tought the signal continued through the other path, not on both paths (I mean, I thought it was A or B, not A and B). Now I'm getting much better sounds from the flanger. Thank you! :D Now I understand why there's a second path line below the main one. Still have so much to learn from this device, I guess ^_^U
  13. While I don't really know, I'd say the time they find a way to detect all strings frequencies, they can do either polyphonic shifting or tuning. It should be a matter of treating the info, either generating shifted notes or displaying the tune in the screen. Again, just guessing. Glad to know they said they have people working on it :)
  14. I gotta disagree. I tune significantly faster with my polytune since my guitar usually stays in tune and only 2-3 strings need to be slightly adjusted most times. Being able to see, in a single strum, which strings are to be tuned, save me time from checking all strings all times.
  15. Yes, sorry. I meant in terms of DSP. I do think the Helix's DSP must be superior to EHX's Pitch Fork, but I don't really know.
  16. Oh, sure: The beginning of this video: Also, it was used in this Smashing Pumpkins song: Maybe it's a different approach of the flanger effect, but I always asociate ir with this sound. It's also in the drums of this song (from 0:10):
  17. Maybe I'm just used to Boss BF3 (edit: I meant BF2) sound, but to me, no flanger in this unit sounds as "powerful" as that. Maybe it's that I just don't know how to properly use them, but it's one of the few "disappointing" things on this device (with polyphonic tuning and pitch shifting).
  18. I'm not in a hurry for this, and I searched in the forums before opening this topic but only found a post saying that someone from Line 6 "hinted that it's possible", but I didn't find this anywhere. I just wonder if this would be possible on current hardware :)

I'm glad that they're adding these meters, especially the gain reduction. Here's hoping the next update brings polyphonic tuner and pitch shifter. With that, the Helix would be 100% what I want (currently it's 98.60% xD). So glad that I discovered this device while reading user reviews of the boss gt1000, which I almost buy.
  20. Thanks very much for all the info :) I gott guess I'll investigate for quite a while. I'll start by testing on my voice PAs to see how it sounds, and then I'll get a dedicated powered speaker. A light one, I hope, as what I most want to achieve is not having to carry the 20kg of my fender hot rod deluxe xD
  21. I just bought a Helix LT and, while I wasn't thinking of using the amp models, I'm starting to change my mind. I've been able to get rid of some of my pedals so this might be another improvement. However, I've never played without an amp so I don't really know what would I use instead. I'd rather not use the same PA system I use for voice and keyboards in my band, but a separate "something" ^_^U Any recommendation (at around 500€ maximum, if possible) would be greatly appreciated :) PS: Helix ROCKS!
