Yeah thats the problem I want to lighten the load of my pedal board by attempting to run just the POD. It would be great to get a couple of more modern boutique over drives modelled. Surely the Klon is worth modelling?

Does anyone else find the overdrive pedals in the POD colour the tone way to much? I dial in a nice clean/breaking up tone and add one of the drives and its all fizzy and EQ'd all wrong. I have tried everything the best I find is the screamer but thats still not great... Any help?

How will it work with dual amps? Apply the same eq to both paths or one for each path? Thanks Matt

A good sound guy will mix for the crowd not himself in his mixing position. Our guys move around and compensate both in sound check and during the gig.

I have found that my patches created in headphones sound ace through our church PA when I put a tube screamer in front of the POD. I only use one patch so tweaking it per venue is fine for me. Im starting a cover band though that will require me to have several different patches ready to go (from metal to bluesy stuff at the press of a button) and I won't have time to check them all. Would an EQ pedal help in this situation or should i get it right through our pa in the rehearsal room and hope it translates well to different venues? any tips? Matt

That's a genius work around Rewold but its a shame you have to use a DI and don't get the beneift of the clean VDI signal.

I use a line6 M5 in the loop already and works fine apart from having to drop the send level of the effects loop as it clips the M5. I just wonder if there will be issues with drive pedals Matt

Iwant to know peoples experiences using pod hd with variax via digital cable and putting external drive pedals in the effect loop. Im thinking my signal chain would go something like this... Variax > POD in > Wah > Effects loop send > JHS Morning Glory > Tube Screamer > Effect loop return > Amp Model > Delay > Pod Output Would it work well ? anyone doing it? I don't like the internal drives in the POD but want the versatility on the JTV connected via VDI.

I like to use my ears to EQ things, not just guitar. It doesn't matter what the frequency is. Find and cut it.

Hi guys Any advice (other than turning down my guitar) to avoid my guitar digitally distorting the AD converter in the pod? I have switched the pad and it still sound horrible until the chord i play decays and cleans up. Im running a lux and hi way amp with fairly clean signals and was hoping to use my over drive pedal to drive them a bit more but so far i cant get it to stop distorting digitally. Im playing a strat with standard pickups. When i lower the volume on my guitar and boost the drive on the amps it works fine but when i switch on my pedals it overloads the input again... I will lower my pickups if needs be but it won't fix the external pedals problem... Help!

I had a go at running my guitar into our church PA through my mac and Logic Pro X last night and apart from the latency I was impressed with the results. Anyone have experiences with doing this? how does it compare to the POD HDx? Im still saving up for one hehe Matt

Im aware that for the money (its more expensive over here in the UK i think) that the POD is much better than its competitors but I was still disappointed. I want to run direct to our PA. A D and B audio xS White series system and Digico SD8 desk. So I'm guessing I will need the full amp models? I had thought about running an M5 for the particle verb also but part of my reason for wanting one was to downsize my pedal board.

I went to a guitar centre today and had a play with a HDX. I love the tones and flexibility but I couldn't get it to run dual amps plus a hall reverb, plus a particle verb and a delay. I might have to re think. I know the DSP thing has been said before but its not a lot to ask to be able to do two reverbs and a delay - even if one of them is the particle verb. Matt

Im not so bothered by the effects loop. I would be running over drive pedals in front of the pod and maybe a compressor. I know the issues with clipping but I wondered how the amp modelling reacted to overdrive pedals. I tend to run my amp clean and stack overdrive pedals to get the specific gain structures i like...

I don't have a POD HDx yet but I wondered if anyone prefers to use external drive pedals instead of the Pod ones. I prefer to use my external drives with my M13 as they sound more transparent. I also like that I leaves me more DSP to play with. What are your thoughts? Matt

I have done plenty of research into the pod hd500x but I have a few questions before i go for it... 1) i will be playing at church running into a great sounding PA with sound engineers that I trust - do you think I will struggle? 2) I want to run dual tones in my patches, should I pan them hard left and right and let the noise boys decide or make that decision for them in the mixer section? I will have lots of opportunity to arrive early and work on my patches before most rehearsals.. 3) Will i run out of DSP if i try and run these effects in a dual tone patch... compression, reverb, auto volume, ping pong delay? 5) if the answer to question 3 is no would i be albe to fit an particle verb in there also? maybe i have my hopes set to high thanks <matt

Find out what POT the external line 6 expression pedal uses and wire it into an external momentary foot switch?
