  1. Hey Everyone, My amp guy finished modding my JCM800, its tone is unbelievable!! So i showed him the issue with the DSL2000. So he said the exact same thing about using a relay box he will build for me that will use an adapter so i wont need to switch out batteries. As soon as he checked the grounding on all my 4CM jacks on the Helix, while they were plugged in the pedal, he knew exactly what Helix should have done. I dont remember all the terminology, but he said the relay box will work for both my Marshall Heads and he will build me two so i don't have to tote it around to both my band practice places. thanks for all the Excellent advice and knowledge. Greatly appreciated! cheers Rick
  2. The Switch that came with the amp works fine without causing the added hum. Was hoping to switch the channels of the amp using the Helix to do it using snapshots so i can simultaneously change the channel with specific FX seamlessly. For live playing Cheers
  3. Im not having a problem with the 4 cable method. (mine is set to line level) This is a external amp-channel changing issue using the Expression pedal 2 jack to switch channels on my Marshall. The Loud humming only happens when plugging the cable into the amp controller jack, using a regular guitar cable or a TRS cable. This problem happens without the 4 cable method hook up as well.
  4. Good day folks. I Finally upgraded to a Helix LT from (HD500X). It is a mind blowing incredible pedal. I do have to sort out an issue that me and a friend, whom both have the same (Older) Marshall amp and same Helix pedal. We both are using this pedal with the 4CM and using a modeled clean tone. Now that we have the Helix and the ability to use snapshot mode we also want to utilize the clean channel of the Marshall by changing amp channel with the helix using the EXP pedal 2 jack. It works no problem changing the Channels but when plugging in the cable you instantly get a loud hum. We tried everything and googled it extensively. As far as we can tell it is also a problem with both the Helix and the (Axe FX units) with older amps. We tried a new DSL combo, it does not hum when using the Helix to switch channels. Talking to my amp tech he needs to meter the Helix jack for continuity and he thinks its either a ground loop or something affecting the switching matrix in the Head. Each jack on the DSL is a standard tip to sleeve short. But it is referenced to the chassis. When he comes into town this weekend he is going to trouble shoot it for me. I'm just curious if anyone else is having this issue on older amps? Has anyone had an amp tech fix the humming issue? Any help or incite will be greatly appreciated. Cheers Rick
  5. Thanks hurghanico! Do you know off hand if they ship to Canada? Or would you happen to know of a Canadian supplier? any help will be greatly appreciated! not sure why, but can’t find a canadian supplier when i search cheers Rick
  6. Good day ppl. I have two Hd500X pedals, one for home recording and one i use the other live and and at rehearsal. Live and at practice i use the 4CM. I was rehearsing last night and 3/4" through the night i switched from bank 7A to 9A, started playing and a minute it (automajically) switched to the tuner. I got the band to stop. I so i looked down and hit the 'A' button and 3 seconds later while looking at it, it did it before my eyes and switched to the tuner again, then it went to 9A, then &a, then tuner, without even touching the (up and down) bank buttons. So I unplugged it and hoped that a reboot would fix it, but it keep switching to the tuner on its own. Plugged it in today and it is just doing the switching to the tuner by itself.... All drivers etc are fully up to date according to Line6 Monkey. Im gonna try contact cleaner on on all the buttons and work them for a good cleaning, but am going See if anyone else has experienced anything like this first. Has anyone ever encountered this? Thanks in advance Rick
  7. There are many cheap or free recording softwares to install on your p.c. and simple to use. I use the oldest version of cakewake for working tracks to send to my band mates. i just bring the .mp3 to a track of its own then jam along to it, recording my guitar. on another track
  8. Good Day Everyone. Been recording with my pedal successfully for years using the USB out on the pedal. Need to start recording using a 2nd DI box track but have not purchased one or small interface yet. I have an older P.C. with no capture card. Just USB and the standard 1/8" audio and video jacks Can you record your tone track and a separate plain tone track simultaneously to two tracks(on your recording software) from the line 6 pedal using just the USB out? If not Opt#1(without DI box) just interface Is it possible you can send the tone signal via (1/4" out) to an interface, then send a separate signal via (XL out) to the interface, then to the P.C to record on two different tracks? Or will i have to buy both the Interface and the DI box to accomplish this? Any incite will be greatly appreciated. Cheers Rick
  9. Not following?? I went to filter/ voice box, tweaked it...... Didnt sound the Greatest So I tried it with a flanger tweaked it, use moderate Settings on my way pedal and it doesn't sound too Bad. I do see the vocoder, I'll mess with that see how it sound Without the flanger Thanks Rick
  10. Hi all, hop every one is doing swell! I have a gig on Saturday and a song that we cover by Motley Crue, kickstart my Heart he uses a voice box. I just do the best i can with a few effects and a strong wah pedal Does anyone know of an effect that may sound close to the voice box? thanks in advance Rick
  11. For $1500, I hope this is the be all end all! http://line6.com/helix/?mkt_tok=3RkMMJWWfF9wsRonuKrJZKXonjHpfsX97%2BgpXLHr08Yy0EZ5VunJEUWy2YcFSdQ%2FcOedCQkZHblFnV0KTK25Xq4NrqcF
  12. Hi guys. Sorry for the late reply. I was able to try using the effect level to boost up my lead channel. Both the send and return were defaulted to zero Wow, what a volume explosion! Thank for the help, you guys are awesome Cheers Rick
  13. Hello everyone. I am using HD500X and the 4 cable method with a Marshall JCM2000 DSL100 I have been struggling with my ignorance on how to control the master output from each channel. But Struggle I mean I have no clue how to do it. :) So from scratch, to make it easy ,say i have my favorite rhythm channel 'A' and copy it to the next channel 'B'. I cant for the life of me figure out how to make the b(lead) channel louder. also struggling with the noise gate, should it be in the left or right side of the screen as being on the left if does not seem to be that affective. thanks in advance Rick
  14. i am gonna mess with that for sure, I am gonna try dropping the wah and see if thats all it needs. I dont need it for this particular song. I was doing it wrong and only diabling them. :bonk:
  15. I like replies like yours mainly because i can take a beating(and i usually deserve one). ;) Makes me realize what I am not seeing. I am a pretty busy dude I know. 11 hr a day tooling Engineer(including drive), two kids, two bands and a recording project. So I have to be ultra efficient at all my hobbies, as i usually can only enjoy and work on them when the kids go to bed...... <_<
  16. lol! What is the next generation of HD pedal looking like? If the DSP was doubled or allows for maxing out the blocks, I would glad pay extra for the upgrade to a newer better pedal. :) Just make sure that you can load the 500x bundles on the new pedal. ;) Hands down, I realy like what line6 has to offer. Especially the wireless unit I purchased a few months ago.
  17. I appologise for my ignorance. So glad it was pointed out.... ;) I will try to understand more, in the future, without complaining. Everyone, thanks for the tips, tricks and sugestions. i will ponder all incite that has been offered, i suppose I can try overdubbing solos as well. Since I use my amp's sound live, 75% of the time, I should be able to max out the effects needed for that set up.(removing amps and fx loop block) A friend contacted me about the line 6 rack FX's that he uses in tandom with others, like a BBE bass maximiser, and is going to school me in how he utilizes it for his live and recording sounds. He has an older model, and loves the line6 rack stuff. cheers rick
  18. Thanks for all the insite so far on my issue. Adding effect sounds like my only real option that works 'best'. Got two more questions. 1 - how do you add effects pedals using the 4 Cable method and can you asign them to switches on the 500x?(like you would if you were using the direct cable method in the previous video I posted) 2 - Does any one know if the Pod HD PRO X has more DSP then its partner in crime the HD 500X? Been Entertaining the idea of rack effects for a while. Cheers Rick
  19. I went from pod XTlive to the HD500x, Why did I not have this problem on the old antique pedal? anyways, I copied the patch to a different channel disabled one of amps, disabled the pre-amp disabled the reverb and it still wont let me add the pitch shifter.....?....? i dont get it??? I saved after i turned of the other 3 items, just incase that was the issue. A friend of mine's son has both the Gt-8 and Gt10, has never heard of this. So anyone, please go up to post #3 and down load the tone and see if you can disable what i said then, try to add the pitch and see if it works for you. maybe my pedal has a defect....i dont know
  20. This is not one thing man. It not a deal killer, i already own it ....LOL So I need to buy a tinier effects pedal, so I can turn off effects in my current Large effects pedal, to be able to maximize my current multi-effects pedal. is this an april fool joke, or just a bad line6 marketing technique?....LOL this is the 5th time in a month I sacrifice dropping a part of a distinguished tone because my effects pedal runs out of memory and now I have lost the exact sound i had and need. I just dont understand why they factored in a 'limit'? I have never heard of any other pedal have a DSP limit of any kind Real Zap, what are these cards you speak of.... like a changeable memory camera card inside the pedal?? that sounds like something line6 should offer to put this behind them. Regards
  21. in this order hard gate / line 6 distortion / vetta wah (open slot) < Dual amp plexi's > preamp eq / hall reverb / analog flanger / digital delayy I use this for recording , via usb to my P.C. here you go add it to your 500 x and try to add a last effect. pain in the a$$ Load chart is not gonna help me any, it not gonna fix my problem it will verify the inadequacies that I am experiencing with the great 500x and that's it. If I cant make the tone I need, I am at a loss. especially if I have to sell this thing and get something else Main Rythem Rec (3).zip
  22. Ok, I am getting a little tired of this error. I have an awesome sounding channel with one open spot to add one last effect. low and be hold i get the error, so i say bye bye to my pre-amp EQ, which is really a large part of that tone. Well it wont even let me change the preamp to a pitch/bass octaver...WTHeck is wrong with this pedal!! I try dropping the delay too and it still gives me the error?? I seem to held back by this pedal now and it seems i can only replace it now to a different brand, since there is no patch to fix this PITA error. UNLESS..... someone has an answer to why Line6 cant fix this annoyance. yours truly, VERY Frustrated. Rick
  23. Ok Space, i checked the 2nd link out again. If i understand it right i just need... -the relay switch -1/4 mono cable to go from amp channel switch jack to relay - a midi cable to go from relay to hd 500x then just figure out how to assign it or program it to do the job. I think you nailed it. :) thanks a pile! gonna try to rig it up before next fridays gig if I can schwing it. I found the video, but it wasent the 4cm it was just using the effects loop as is But i think i just liked his distortion sound when using the MXR over the clean
  24. @gangster Is it possible to add midi jack mod to my amp by an Amp technician? If so would my 500X be able to switch it then, if he configured it that way? @space I seen a youtube video where fellow, using the 4cm, Added a distortion pedal in the effects chain loop, (MXR dist 111)was able to assign a button on the 500x to Turn it on and off. (Gotta find that video) My Marshall pedal for switching channel is 1 button like an a/b box?.(I think) Is there such a device like an 'inline' type channel Switcher that I could use in the same manner as the distortion pedal set up? http://www.musiciansfriend.com/amplifiers-effects/morley-aby-channel-switcher I'll try to find that video and post it. Thanks for the replies. Keep em coming.
