  1. Thanks for posting. It's an interesting site. How do you like the GD patches?
  2. It is defective then. Can you send it back?
  3. Enjoyed that Paolo. It cheered me up on this Monday morning haha. I like that you use cleaner tones, it makes a nice change. Good use of the Tremolo fx too. Al
  4. You're welcome, glad I could help. Al
  5. Yeah, I'll post some here for you tomorrow. Al Btw did you miss this one,I posted. http://line6.com/support/topic/20175-2204-with-t75-sounds-great/?do=findComment&comment=152328
  6. Ok, I'll have to record it. I have to say though that by lowering the gain on the amp from default, I can eliminate the cliping. I prefer it to Axefx which has a gritty overtone to all its amp models. Just try the default JTM for yourself. Just amp and cab.
  7. Well yes I'd say it does. Certainly I've had tone snobs think it's one of my valve amps. I have 8 Marshall valve amps, so I know the tone I'm after, and after a few weeks I can now get those tones, and many more. You need to think about what you'll be playing the Helix through though. I record direct, but potentially you'll get even better tones with FRFR powered speaker systems.
  8. Thanks Rick, I was always an analogue only guy until I got the Helix. Btw, you've got two very nice amps there. I've played a Switchblade and it has a very full tone. Nice.
  9. Well done Rick, that was a good test. Both sounded good to me, and very close in tone. Certainly usable in a mix. Really the 2204 isn't one of the offending amps for digital clipping. More like the JTM45. Al
  10. Hi guys, I'm still trying out the many different ways of using the Helix. Here I am impressed how good its DS9 pedal stacked with a Timmy is driving my Laney on its clean channel. The 70s chorus was used for the 2nd lead guitar. The Bass and 3 bass harmony was the Ampeg model recorded direct to PC. I'M impressed by the quality of the Helix fx used in this way. No amps or cabs were used from the Helix, that all came from the Lionheart. Mic's were SE ribbon and SM57. Hope you enjoy it. Al https://soundcloud.com/ju287v3/als-comet-mix-mp3
  11. If you want to listen to great tones, I think Scott on The helix channel Youtube does a great job. Though he uses Ownhammer IRs.
  12. This is growing out out context, though I agree with what has been said. I love the Helix, and have posted here clips of the 2204 and T75 sounding great and also my JVM1 into the Helix as a Cab modeler. All we are saying is, why do some default amps with default settings, and no other FX have Digital clipping going on? It should get sorted out to make the Helix even better.
  13. Well lets not get too focused on the 185, because other amps in the Helix, the Marshall JTM for example suffer with this digital clipping even on its default setting, with a Les Paul. Like the OP said,a few of the amps exhibit this sound, and I have found this to be true.
  14. Just to make sure, after selecting a block on the line, and pressing action, now pull the joystick downwards. That should open up an fx loop with the block ( lets say a delay pedal for example) now moved to a lower line. Al
  15. Mine does this digital clipping too. I almost sent the Helix back. C'mon Line 6, this shouldn't be happening on a default amp setting. I bet Kemper and Axe fx don't do this. It's the only thing keeping me from wholeheartedly recommending the Helix to other users on other forums. I love the unit other than this, and my work around is to lower the gain and master so it stops clipping, then use a pedal, od or compressor to bring it back up. Btw I'm using 1.06 firmware. Al

    First Helix crash

Mine is running 1.06 and not connected to any computer at the time of crash.
  17. The 0.1w on the little Marshall's, is just slightly hotter than line level, so I had the amp on 5 and gain on 4. I got no clipping and it sounded good. Aux can take line level. I got the idea from Pete Thorn when he demoed the Helix, and put a 100w amp into it using the Suhr dummy load box, and its line out.
  18. Hi guys, It amazes me how many different ways the Helix can be used, and still sound great. So here I'm putting my Marshall JVM1 in 0.1w mode, and the speaker output of the amp into the aux input of the Helix. The Helix T75 speaker cab was used. Guitar was the Les Paul Traditional. Btw I hope Line6 release a Marshall JVM amp at some point. And the reason for doing this is because even in 0.1w mode, I can't use the amp at night for recording. Now its silent with this method and headphones. See what you think. Al https://soundcloud.com/ju287v3/jvm-into-helix-cab-mp3
  19. To me it sounds like a problem. The Helix is very prone to internal digital distortion, and I have to reduce amp gain if I want to use an od pedal on most amps. JTM clips even on default with my Les Paul. I have to reduce gain and Master volume to stop the digital clipping. Your sound is different to this though I think. I would take it back to the shop, unless you have an electricity problem you can find..

    First Helix crash

Mine has crashed /frozen a couple of times. I just rebooted and it was ok. But not a good thing to happen.
  21. Thanks you guys for your settings too. Mine were; 2204 Drive 7.9 Bass 3.0 Mid 4.5 Treb 6.6 Pres 8.0 Ch Vol 8.0 Master 5.4 and the rest was default. The twin 1960 cabs were set the same like this; Default except High Cut 6.0 khz and level -2.4db. Don't know what that does but Scott has his cabs at -18db for some reason. Then room reverb and simple delay. The delay in a loop. Guitar was a Gibson LP Traditional. The mixer is a Soundcraft and I added 3db to bass, and 1db to mid and treble. Also a little onboard Lexicon reverb.
  22. Thanks Rocco. I'm really enjoying the Helix now. Just takes time at first, to set it up well with what ever its going into. We all have different setups, and therefore get different tones.
  23. Thanks Raszack. Glenn DeLaune put me onto the T75. I've had the Helix for about 6 weeks now, and I'm finally getting the Valve tones I like. Hope this clip helps potential customers to form an opinion.
  24. Hi guys, For anyone interested in how good the Helix can sound, recorded direct into a mixer then PC. I like the Marshall 2204 with a T75 speaker. The T75 gives great clarity for a stock IR cab. Al 2204 T75.mp3
  25. That last clip sounded right to me. Same as mine.
