  1. Cool, great job with that. Very Ozzy on the clean parts which I liked too. Great tones from the Helix, and a very polished production. Al
  2. Ok so I just looked at my settings for this patch and its almost all default settings. Guitar is a Schecter C1 with EMGs. No noise gate. Gray Flanger default settings. Simple EQ, Low +1.0/ mids -0.5/ High +1.0. Amp+cab in one. Low cut 72hz high cut 6.0khz Then make fx loop. Put the simple delay under the amp. Change only feedback to 30 and mix to 36. Then I used a large hall reverb in my mixer. You can try one on the top line after the amp, but with the level at 60% or so. Take this as a starting point for your own big solo tone. Al
  3. Yeah spot on, Garden of Eden for rock guitarist's. I just need a new laptop to run the Helix app, then I'll be getting Sigi's finest 1 and 2. Can't wait to have those tones for my Helix to use. And thanks for all your effort in doing a great job. Al
  4. He did tell me you guys called him and he always likes to help. And you turned up with a great selection of mic's. He said the feedback has been very positive about the IRs. The small box 50w plexi and 8x10 cab was Jim Marshall's favourite tone! Btw, here is my visit to Sigi's Museum including pictures and sound clips. 5. Thanks a lot, glad I'm in good company here!Btw this was based on a Violin Sonata, I got the tab from guitarist magazine. It just blew my mind how he changes key to maintain interest.Love it. I recorded this on windows XP. My PC is that old. So I can't export the settings for upload unfortunately. But will get a new laptop soon, that should open up some doors like IRs and editor ect. If you're interested I'll post the settings here the old fashioned way. Really most fx only had 1 or 2 changes from default settings. Al
  6. Thanks Robbie. I must confess I pretty much threw this together, but as a valve tone snob haha, I know what I want it to sound like. I don't think it sounds digital at all, and that's why I went for the Helix.
  7. I'll have to give the dynamix a try. Sounds interesting. Thanks for the tip.
  8. I will be doing soon. BTW Sigi who owns the Marshall museum Germany is a friend of mine. Where else can you get an IR of a Marshall 8x10 cab? Nice job you guys. Al
  9. Thanks Duncann, Yeah I like what the Flanger is adding here. Its set quite low, but it gives movement when I'm stationary. I like the FX on the Helix. Best digital fx I've heard.
  10. OTT? You bet, but hey, with a Helix, the sky is the limit. I was using a Grey Flanger, compressor, EQ, Line 6 Elektrik amp, delay and masses (too much) of reverb for that Royal Albert Hall sound. Just having fun. Al https://soundcloud.com/ju287v3/bach-helix-mp3
  11. Thanks MonkeyXT. The tone starts with a Schecter C1 with EMGs in Eb. The amp was left on default, but I added in front the basic EQ pedal. This was set to +1.0 bass -0.5 mids at 600hz and +1.0 treble. A very small amount of reverb was added from the desk I go into, before going onto the PC. Give it a try.
  12. Thanks Robbie. I hope its a help to those considering the Helix.
  13. Hi guys, there's been post's asking about the Helix high gain tones. So I thought I'd give it a try. This is the Line 6 Elektrik amp model, and it's stock T75 cab. I reduced the top end of the speaker to 6Khz and now it sounds just like a miked up cab. Al The Perfect Chugg.mp3
  14. You have a reason for asking that, but as it's not adjustable, why does it matter?
  15. Congratulations. Now you have all 3. Helix, Kemper and Axe Fx. You seem well setup in that studio. I wish I had a setup like that.

    Helix vs AX-8

The general consensus is that, out of the box, the AX8 high gains are better. But put some IRs from Ownhammer ect, and the Helix is as good or better. I don't have both, but if you look back on this forum people who have both have said as much. Really the thing I have against the AX8 are the tones are grainy, while the Helix is very realistic when dialed in properly.
  17. Very nice tones and playing. A good advert for what the Helix can do. Thanks for posting. Al

    Helix Cab vs IR

Good demo. I thought they were very similar like you said, and I actually slightly preferred the stock cab. The advantage in IRs seems to be with higher gain than you're using. So all the clean users don't see any benefit, while the heavy rockers get a marked advantage. Did you see Paul Glover's IR test? The difference was big!
  19. Cool, and I think Kemper should listen to your idea of a floor unit. They'd get more sales from that I'm sure.
  20. Go for it. Get a Kemper too if you can. It's no different to buying say a Mesa, Marshall and an Engl for the same money. They all are different and have strengths and weaknesses. I currently have 10 valve amps, and the Helix.
  21. I love stories like this. I need a new laptop before I can load IRs, but I need to do it sooooon!
  22. I wonder whether you would benefit from some third party IRs. They can be more open sounding imho. It could help make it sound less compressed.
  23. Good to hear this. Glad it's working out for you.
  24. Love the quality of the production. You're a pro! Al
  25. The other way, short cut? Is to assign à n fx to a pedal by simply highlight the fx on the line, then just touch the footswich for a few seconds and it will ask if you want to assign the fx to that pedal. Then if you want the fx off, press backspace. Now do the same with the next fx but have this one on.
