  1. It's a bummer for sure - the iPad would be great for on-stage tweaks.
  2. Good point - I forgot about the Firehawk.
  3. I seriously doubt that the HD500X is the last of the line. The Helix is beyond the financial reach of many players, so they would be crazy to not have a "Helix Light" range whatever they might call it.
  4. I have a Tech 21 Power Engine which does a pretty decent job. I just bought a DT25 which would have been a great partner to the POD HD500X, but mine had some problems and I am returning it.
  5. Quite possibly, but since it's only a week old, it's just as easy to switch it out for a new one. I have three other amps, so it's not a hardship.
  6. Well, after less than a week, my DT25 will be on its way back to Musician's Friend tomorrow. It was suddenly dropping volume, and developing odd hissing and fluttering noises. This happened whether I was going through a POD HD500X with the LINK connection, or direct into the amp. It was also very noisy switching between patches on the POD. Bummer because I was liking the tones otherwise.
  7. I couldn't go when they were at my local GC. Dammit . . .
  8. The amp is nice. Plugged in directly, it has some really nice warm tube sounds. Going through the POD HD500X was initially problematic. I had bought an AES/ABU cable (not the Line 6 one) and it was awful via the LINK connection - crackles, sound drop out, hiss, you name it. I substituted a regular XLR cable and it seemed OK. Not sure if the sound is the best it can be, so I am waiting on the Line 6 cable to arrive next week. I am now working on modifying the patches I had already created for the DT25.
  9. Thanks Brad. My DT25 arrives tomorrow. Looking forward to putting it through its paces.
  10. Just bit the bullet and ordered the DT25 combo to go with my POD500X. Never could get it to sound great with my Vox AC15 or Carr Rambler. Wasn't bad at all with a Tech 21 Power Engine, but I'm hoping the DT25 will be the ticket!
  11. I wrestled with this also (Vox AC15 in my case). Just bought a Tech 21 Power Engine - problem solved.
  12. Thanks for the help guys -much appreciated! Andy - thanks for the link - I will check it out.
  13. Thanks guys - very helpful. I was confused by the manual saying that you should have Master Vol on max. That seemed to defeat the purpose of having a master volume. DunedinDragon - I play in a church band and need to switch tones sometimes quite dramatically from song to song. Having a big drop or raise in volume is a problem. I only just learned about setting Inputs 1 and 2 to be different. I had them set to Same.
  14. I'm brand new to the POD HD500X, but so far enjoying the different tonal options available. I am having a hard time understanding the options that control overall volume (I'm running into a Tech 21 Power Engine 60) and not getting big volume changes when I switch patches. Effects aside, I can see that most amp models have drive and master volume controls - and there is the Master Volume control on the unit itself. Are there any other controls that affect amp volume? How should I set Master Volume on the unit when I'm programming patches? At maximum or, say, halfway to allow for volume increases at stage volumes? Does anyone have some tips on keeping volume constant between patches?
